  1. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 04:11 PM) I am with you on that. So what do you want, a guy with less talent and less track record? He's a major big league talent who just so has happened to succeed at the big league level. There's uncertainty with everyone, but he's a pretty damn good bet. It's all moot anyway, as I don't think they'd part with him for anyone except a Sale level arm.
  2. Addison's consistent spot was in a place where the ump isn't seeing strike. Has to move the ball around
  3. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:54 PM) Does anybody have a number on how many 123 innings Reed has had this season? He has a 1.05 WHIP, so probably several
  4. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:50 PM) Eh, not necessarily but there are a myriad of posters/fans who have much less patience than myself. I didn't like his hiring to start with. His approach is to go up there hacking and that is not my cup of tea. There may be a correlation between his approach and our 14th in the AL OBP of .302. There was one quote that made people think that. Our players are the correlation. We had a bad OBP before Manto and we still do now. Everything I've seen and heard from Manto, I like. I especially like that he is not a system teacher (ie, no lift and pull BS unless your skillset mandates such an approach)
  5. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:49 PM) Oh I would especially when they have pitching coming back and in the minors. They really dont need to do anything except add bullpen help. lol? did something change between now and a week ago? there is a limit to everyone's interest, but what their management says on TV isn't going to affect the way I perceive the Peavy trade market
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:46 PM) Too bad the alternative is the Indians That's fine. They aren't close to a sustained winner, so them limping into the playoffs isn't something that bothers me QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:47 PM) Diamondbacks President on MLBNetwork radio basically all but ruled out needing starting pitching(injured pitchers coming back/young help in minors) I sure wouldn't believe any of that around this time of year
  7. Gattis would be an amazing get. He was an elite MLB draft prospect before his issues hit him (he says these have been over-sensationalized) and he's been great since he returned to professional baseball.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:44 PM) why? Because it is always nice to see a team's free-spending ways be rendered ineffective. Every year, their window get closer and closer to being shut.
  9. It would be lol-worthy if injuries cause this Detroit team to miss the playoffs
  10. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:43 PM) I dunno if it's just me but it seems like the past week Dayan has had tremendously better at bats - not just that he is getting more hits, but he is seeing way more pitches and not swinging at everything they throw. He's even taken a few walks I think Indeed. The whole month of July has been good to him
  11. Another day where Tank kills righties. Good sign
  12. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:41 PM) He's in the JR loyalty belt. Why haven't the fire Manto conversations came about yet? Do you think our poor hitting is his fault?
  13. Crain is on the DL because he throws 1000 pitches per batter
  14. Knowing what I know (which means, Peavy didn't ask me personally to go back out there) I wouldn't have sent him out. Nonetheless, it is by far the least big deal of all time
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:37 PM) It wasn't a situation like where Buehrle is going to be a free agent at the end of the year and he wants to get the standing ovation one last time. Again, this risk of him getting injured was far too great there. The fact he gave up a homer is secondary to the decision. I hope the scouts don't think he's that injury prone, because that would be a ridiculous reason to get hurt. "threw 7 too many pitches" "stood on mound 5 minutes too long"
  16. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:34 PM) That is not even close to being the point. Peavy gets hurt then what ? Already missing out on Crain . You'd be looking at a disaster of major proportions. He didn't get hurt. Nothing happened
  17. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:29 PM) Maybe Peavy begged him to go back out. In all likelihood, yes
  18. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:28 PM) That is not the point. He finished with a K and several pitches over 100 to end the 7th. The White Sox do not think 100 pitches is a lot. This isn't news
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:24 PM) I think Sale was worse against DET than Peavy last year. He only made 490K so it's fine
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:15 PM) Go Pirates!! We need the Bucs to lose so that they get desperate
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:11 PM) And he pitched like s*** when it mattered in that one good season. End of last year, he had two bad starts vs. DET, and in the third one he couldn't even finish the sixth inning. Needed a big win against the Angels, and he got rocked. Kinda similar to his limited postseason career in San Diego. But god forbid you say something bad about Jake Peavy the competitor. I love having him on the Sox, but I can't stand his apology society that says he does nothing wrong. Don't forget his great starts that don't count because they weren't against Detroit
