Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox
Jake replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't think Alexei is a good fit with Boston, at all -
Yeah, you can't really have too many MLB-ready bats. If they both turn out, we can find a place for them

That's actually Trayvon Martin in lostfan's profile picture

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 11:06 AM) After reading the last few paragraphs of this Jeff Passan article, I will change my opinion and say that Braun does owe Laurenzi an apology. It's one thing to use the loophole to your advantage, it's another to go this far with the blame game & accusations. It's time for everyone to congratulate LittleHurt. In the history of message boards, he's the first one to respond to new facts by changing his opinion. A Soxtalk first, for sure.

I don't have a problem with dealing De Aza given how he has played this year. He has hit very well, but as myself and others have said, it is not unreasonable to say that he has been the ringleader of this circus. With that said, you have to get good value for him. Given the contract situations, he should have similar value to Rios. Maybe more.

You guys really like Carlos Boozer that much?
-
Dunn+Kep would only make too much sense for the Yanks
-
Jesus, why not just trade for Dunn then?
-
I find it unbelievable that the Yanks would take on 15 mill of salary for next year

Martin Perez, Luke Jackson, Luis Sardinas, Rougned Odor, Nomar Mazara, Ronald Guzman, Neil Ramirez (maybe?), Jorge Alfaro (hurt), Joey Gallo (hurt) Also, top 10 guy entering the season Cody Buckel has suffered a complete implosion. He had a great year last year and had an outside shot to make the big league club entering this year. He threw 9.1 IP in Double-A with a 20.25 ERA (29 runs) with 28 BB. No typos there. They assigned him to extended spring where he seems to be rotting away. John Sickels says "pitchers will break your heart" in reference to him and he's right. Crazy collapse.

T.J. Quinn made a good point on ESPN about Nelson Cruz - as an upcoming free agent, it behooves him to get this resolved by the end of the season so it isn't hanging over his head when he's looking for a new team. This could open up the market for Rios for sure.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 10:04 PM) Jason Grilli might have blown out his elbow tonight. If true, that's very sad.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 10:03 PM) Haha...he was protecting his multimillion dollar image. It's really easy to sit here as a normal schlep and criticize a guy that has all that for trying to keep it. Me? Normal schlep? Not me!!!

He didn't have to say s***. He didn't have to pretend it was intentionally spiked by someone who had to be the collector to get off. It was selfish and hurt somebody just for his personal gain. I'm glad he's getting his public shame now
-
You could also promote Marcus Semien for the same reasons and he's somebody that is pretty damn hot right now at the plate

Yeah, hard to say what's up. Really appreciate your input. -
If Beckham goes to DL, we should call up Carlos Sanchez just for s***s and giggles. Who knows, maybe he catches fire. It wouldn't be the first time something like that has happened.
-
While I am flabbergasted as to how Alexei made that error, Ramon Troncoso on his rump is a nice representation of our season
-
The obvious implication is that something must have happened while the sample was in the collector's home.

QUOTE (mike65 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:15 PM) I don't know what this means or if it means anything but the Cardinals promoted a 2B late today to AAA Memphis. His name is Luis Mateo. In addition, Kolten Wong, who is always in the lineup, is not playing tonight. I can asure you that Wong is not coming to STL with the year Carpenter is having. This is just a little strange. Since I am a Cardinals fan hanging on this board, I just thought you folks would appreciate the heads up. Thanks for the info! That is VERY interesting. -
QUOTE (jthunder93 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:01 PM) Right. Also, for the 9 passed balls, I guess that's less than 1 per game (11 games). He does need to cut that number down, though. What weird delay? Crikey, that is a lot of passed balls. He's just 19 though. I was referring to how he was seemingly getting passed over for playing time early in the short season.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:14 PM) In your opinion, is he overcompensating too much for the loss of bat speed? Seems like the only thing that makes sense. He isn't stupid, he would have realized he needed to change his approach if approach was the issue.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:05 PM) As someone that's seen a large majority of Konerko's at bats with the Sox, I'll never understand why he changed his swing so much last year around the ASB. It seems like he tries to flip everything to right field, and cuts off his swing so drastically now. Honestly, he was doing a lot of those swings even during the hot streak - we didn't notice how little power he had while he was batting .400, but now that he's back down to earth it doesn't look pretty. He used to use that kind of cut occasionally, maybe against a tough pitcher or to break out of a slump, but we haven't seen him look hitterish in a long time now.
