    Where would you live?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 10:05 AM) Yeah, Vancouver is another great city...and Montreal... No poopy French parts!!! I am a big fan of Toronto myself

    Where would you live?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 09:30 AM) I'd love to live in SF, but not sure doubling my pay would make that any more feasible than it is now SD possibly...or Malibu...Colorado isn't a bad choice either, Jake LOL California was exactly my thinking behind the "doubling your pay" condition
  3. Let's say your employer comes to you and says: 1. We're going to double your pay 2. We'd like you to change locations 3. You can work anywhere in the USA or Canada, except those poopy French parts Where do you go? I'd imagine some folks will stay put and others will hightail it outta there. I think I'd go to Boulder, CO
  4. ptatc has already said elsewhere that this is the perfect situation for the Sox to stretch him out in terms of pitches per game and innings pitched when the risk of losing a game to do so isn't something we care about
  5. I'm taking the GRE on Monday. I am absolutely positive that we'll trade Peavy while I'm on my way there
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 10:04 PM) I don't think that's crazy at all. They need value regardless of pitcher/hitter. That's definitely true. It certainly seems odd that we are trying for pitching over hitting when all things are equal though (if Gammons is to be believed...and god knows if anyone is to be believed at this point)
  7. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:58 PM) Started out in the minor leagues at 17 though. 3 years to get to AA doesn't seem that impressive. Your actual age does matter though. The benefit of being young is it gives you more time to adjust before your clock has ticked out
  8. How are they going to call the bullpen now? Smoke signals?
  9. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:56 PM) The only way that makes sense is if the Sox plan on flipping Quintana or Santiago in the offseason for positional prospects. I just don't buy it. Maybe they've just resigned to the fact that we can't scout/develop position players "f*** it, we just won't allow ANY runs!"
  10. Everyone tells their media that they don't have the money and/or willingness to give up talent for the top guys on the market....but suddenly they always find those things if they want the guy
  11. Well, Peter Gammons did say that we're targeting pitching....as mind boggling as that is
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:21 PM) Cashner's not striking out as many people as in the past and that 5.07 ERA away from Petco raises some questions. But I agree that everyone assumed it was a lopsided trade, but Cashner has some talent. I'm looking at FIP, which likes him quite a bit (3.62 entering the day)

What would happen if Courtney Hawkins batted against Chris Beck? *head explosion*
  14. Yep, my threads are magic
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:16 PM) Dislocated hip. Can't imagine that is an injury that you can come back from quickly

Keon Barnum heating up a bit. Still striking out a ton and has a very high error total for a 1B

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:12 PM) Jacobs 2 run single. Extends hit streak to 9 Also made stupid baserunning blunder to end the inning welcome to the White Sox!
  18. Just thought I'd point out that it's no cinch that Rizzo will be a better player than Cashner when all is said and done. Not that the Cubs would ever need pitching, of course
  19. Side note: since when was "freeze on a liner" extended to line drives that are clearly going to the outfield?
  20. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:00 PM) When you see that ball off the bat, you have two options a) go back to third -- you will not score on if it hits the ground because he'll throw you out. The one exception is if he dives and misses and the ball goes by him (on a trap play, you're still not scoring) b) go halfway, score if it hits the ground, go back and not score if there is a catch (which would require a web gem type play) He chose the wrong one. Let's not act like it was a play where it was clear a catch was being made, though There's honestly some chance he gets thrown out if he tagged up -- I don't recall how quickly Lough got to his feet but that was a shallow fly
  21. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 08:56 PM) I don't know what you're arguing here... he did dive? There is simple rule in baserunning "freeze on a liner" I would argue if you're tagging at third that would be the exception. Even if he just froze there he may have still have had a chance. Much better than running 30-45 feet down the line for nothing. When you see that ball off the bat, you have two options a) go back to third -- you will not score on if it hits the ground because he'll throw you out. The one exception is if he dives and misses and the ball goes by him (on a trap play, you're still not scoring) b) go halfway, score if it hits the ground, go back and not score if there is a catch (which would require a web gem type play) He chose the wrong one. 22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 08:54 PM) In the 7th, not all that often I would suggest but I have no stats to prove it. Now, if the Sox were winning at that point, I would absolutely agree with the move. The problem was that it was unclear if we were going to get any more baserunners and with that situation, it looked like it might be our best chance to score in that game.
