  1. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 06:02 AM) First off, one of the courses I am taking this fall is Forensic Psychology. The text books are Evil Minds and Mindhunter. Bwa ha ha ha. I too have a fascination with events like this. I also never have liked horror movies. There obviously is something a little astray with this guy. Hmm, soft and chewy on the outside, crunchy in the middle. I'm really hoping theres some news coverage of the court proceedings, because I want to know more about what happened here.

    i am drunk

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 10:26 PM) People need to stop coming here when they're sober. Nothing is worse than hearing an asshole recount what he drank last night. Do you honestly think anyone cares how "f***ed up" you were? If you were so "f***ed up" tell me what happened. Tell me something funny, interesting. Not how many beers you had. Your drinking tolerance doesn't impress anyone. This thread has severely lost its luster. Every time I see this thread, I get excited to see someone's drunken postings. It always fails me.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 07:06 AM) http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/08/04/presumed....eref=rss_latest How wasn't this found out sooner? If he was presumed dead, wouldn't a death certificate have been prepared? Was he paying taxes all these years?
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 05:31 AM) I guess it's kind of a hypothetical/theoretical exercise, but with Garland in the rotation (maybe Contreras could have been shifted to the bullpen, although unlikely for someone at $10 million or so per year)...and Ramirez at SS and Uribe at 2B, would we be any better off? We'd obviously have had a better pitcher than Masset or Richard to use for three games... Or if we kept Gio and Sweeney...although how that would have put us in an improved position, I have no earthly idea. One of Floyd and Danks would not have been in our rotation had we kept Garland, so I'm not sure what would have been gained. Knowing what we know now though, it would be nice to plug in Garland ahead of Contreras instead of Garland keeping out one of this seasons two best pitchers, which would have been the case if we kept him.
  5. I think Josh Fields had far greater value before this season started.
  6. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 06:47 AM) If they posted the team was going to be in second place, then hell yes I'm saying there are posters here who would rather be right then have good things they did not predict happen to the team. They want Fields -or- Crede to fail. They want Buerhle to not be an ace. etc. They want to show they are smarter then Williams or Guillen. I've read it for 5 years around here. As soon as something bad happens that they predicted they start a thread gloating. Mariotti would fit in very nicely around here. I'm with you on this one. I have a feeling that may be why you do a lot of your posting in the SLaM forum.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 01:20 AM) That's really how I feel and what I've been trying to get across but have failed to do so. Thank you. No problem!
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 12:05 AM) Yeah, and every one of them is under 26 and by and large in their first full season as a starter in the majors. Slowey and Baker have thrown this amount of innings before (both in a combination of the majors and minors); however, Liriano has already thrown about 140 innings this season, hasn't thrown this many since 2005 in the minors (where he threw 167), and both Blackburn and Perkins will almost certainly eclipse their career high in innings. Constantly being on the road won't help either. Yes I find it funny how our team, filled with established vets, is destined to go down the s***ter but the team made largely of unproven, untested unknowns is somehow just flat out better. They may very well beat us, but the writing isn't exactly on the wall.
  9. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 01:04 AM) Billy Madison, Buscemi's list, right? Maybe I can taste your brain sometime. Seriously, I mind this beautifully twisted must be studied. That indeed was what I was thinking of, even though I suppose the desired effect was reached with or without knowing of the Billy Madison scene. And I'm flattered.
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 11:14 AM) This is going to be worth the wait, I believe. I'm going to go with a slightly different format. Early thanks is in order to the folks helping me with this. The suspense is killing me!

    QUOTE (BobDylan @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 12:42 AM) What you don't see, the mob doesn't do.
  12. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 12:43 AM) Wasn't the victim sitting next to him on the bus? Horribly, bad luck. Normally, I'm all for torturing people who commit violent crimes, but this is a special mfr. Clearly, this animal has no sense of reality, so this is one of the few times where I say you gotta lock him up in an asylum. By the way, I like the way your brain works Jake. Finally someone appreciates my how my brain works. People to Kill: Miguel Olivo All Twins OF's LosMediasBlancas On a serious note though, I don't know if Canada has capital punishment, but if they do this is what its made for.
  13. MLB Catch-All Thread Even though this probably deserves its own thread.
  14. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 11:31 PM) I meant Gavin and I have no idea why I put Havy. "3:30 in the morning, not a soul in sight" is a lyric from one of the greatest songs of all time. Oh yeah, I knew that.
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 11:38 PM) Yeah, I hope that 91 mph pitch didn't hurt too much. I'm not sure how that makes Olivo a b**** and Carrasco not one.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 11:26 PM) Just got back from all 3 games: Game 1- fun game, Javy pitched well. Good to see we don't have to hit shots and bombs to win (all 12 hits were singles). Game 2- crappy until the comeback, every Sox fan around us thought Ramirez's was gone. Mark pitched like poop. Good effort, Indians did us a favor. Game 3- crappy all around effort, I'm sure the 107 heat index was the excuse. Richard isn't ready yet. Olivo is a b*tch- go get 'em Tuesday. Olivo's a b****? How about Carrasco who lays his hand on Miguel's head in an apparent attempt to bless him or something.
  17. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 12:14 AM) Since he had the knife on the bus with him, it seems like planned the stabbing at least. I have a serious fascination with these kinds of people too. I would love to be a fly on the wall during the interrogation. I as well. One would think he at least imagined the situation, but some people might be able to somewhat randomly act out in this way. Maybe he always carried the knife with him, just in case he decided it was time. Another question is what made his victim stand out? Did he look tastier than the rest of the passengers? In addition to being a fly on the wall during interrogations, I wouldn't mind being his big, mean, violent, jailed for life inmate.
  18. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 10:56 PM) 3:30 in the morning? Where the hell are you? I was thinking the same thing. Let's see if Gavin can kill another losing streak!
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 11:05 PM) Jake, for the record i'm not jumping ship; I'm concerned. We ain't been playing good baseball for a couple weeks now. I'm hopeful. I want us to win. I just am concerned especially KC beating us 4 of 6. I did in fact reread your post and realized you weren't nearly as pessimistic as the others that got me going on that rant, which is why I felt the need to make that edit.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 11:07 PM) You could be right Jake but the Sox can't afford to trot him out there again. Unless the coaches are convinced start No. 4 will be the charm. He hasn't had a quality start yet has he? If they give him start no. 4 I'll assume Oz, KW and Coop see something. But after today I don't know how you could start him again. Yes this will probably be the end of Clayton's big league season, and you can't really argue against it with his lack of production. I was simply stating that he is capable of doing what was asked of him and that the many people wishing never to see him in our uni again would potentially regret that wish when he shows up in someone else's.
  21. Does anyone ever post in their birthday thread on the day of their birthday? Of course I understand this one, they don't let you use internet in the county jail.

    Montauk Monster

So what the hell are raccoons doing in the ocean?
  23. I wonder how long the killer planned what he was going to do. Did he plan his actions? Did he already know when he got on the bus that he was going to do the deed to someone? Did he immediately pick out his victim? Was eating him part of the plan or did it just seem like a good idea at the time?
  24. Yes, damn Buehrle for preparing KC hitters for all those fat pitches they were going to see today! If only we could have pitched a true ace at them first to get them looking for good pitches.
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 10:09 PM) I don't see how anybody could argue with Fathom on that sentiment. They are taking care of business while we are continuing our sometimes good, sometimes bad ways. Like he said, hopefully it'll change. In the past week, absolutely they have played better. For I'm not sure what time period, they arguably have played better. However, as for the entire season they are a mere half game better than us and to argue that they are absolutely head and shoulders better than us is a total discredit to all of our accomplishments thus far this season. We have been hampered by a few injuries and big time slumps, not to mention played I believe 10 more road games than the Twins. Despite all this, our records are almost identical. The bottom line is that we are far more talented than the Twins. If we play like we are able to and they do the same, we will win this division easily. Edit: greg775 this post is not aimed directly at you but rather the whole of soxtalkers jumping ship. Can we lose this thing? Suer can. I just hope our players don't feel the same way as all of you, or we indeed are in serious trouble. However, since they are athletes and are naturally competitive, I trust they haven't laid down because they know as I do that we can win this thing because it is ours to win with the tools that we have on our team.
