  1. Yes, we need to make a deal to bring Timo back.

    I would give McCarthy, Fields, Sweeney, whoever they'd like for Oswalt. And then give him a 100 year deal.
  3. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 10:54 PM) Hell, I'm still playing the old WCW vs nWo for N64. That's really a great game.
  4. Does anyone know how hard/effective Hermy has been throwing down there? He could still help us up in Chicago.
  5. So why don't celebate priests turn to women as opposed to men?
  6. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 09:54 PM) Thats the funniest thing I've ever seen. ?
  7. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) I don't see this as an excuse. I see it as the Sox recognizing a problem and trying whatever they can to fix it. ^^^
  8. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 09:47 PM) As if Vazquez doesn't have problems enough keeping his ERA down, Cotts didn't help that cause today. Bad pitching all the way around, some bad luck in the 9th didn't help either. Everything went right for Gibbons today, he fisted his base hit in the 9th. Conine I give credit to, great veteran at bat but bad pitch location and selection by the White Sox. Mackowiak again costs us in center, as well. Not a lot went right today. But we almost came through with a good win anyways.

    QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) Tonight's lineup was a f***ed up, hideous thing. There's something so deeply unintimidating about AJ Pierzynski batting third instead of Jim Thome. AJ Pierzynski wasn't even the problem. We have our starting CF out there today, I think we win this game.
  10. QUOTE(zenryan @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) why not trade BMac if you arent going to use him over Javy That's what I'm starting to think. Might as well get some value for the kid if you aren't going to make him a valuable piece of your team.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 09:40 PM) What do you think about giving Thornton a chance or two at closing out a game? With Jenks struggling lately, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Thornton get a situation with a 3 run lead and some lefties coming up to the plate. In no way am I advocating a change, but it might give Ozzie some options. I remember that before the year, you thought Cotts would get some chances to close (to give Ozzie options). Again, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Jenks is still our primary closer, but all teams will have someone else close on occasion, if anything just to give the regular a break. You won't find many teams with only one person with all the saves.
  12. QUOTE(Dan Pasqua @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 09:34 PM) Did he not know what he was paying for? Look at his career. He is a 500. pitcher. Take it up with Kenny Williams That doesn't mean we should expect him to be just a .500 pitcher.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 09:28 PM) No he's not. KW didn't pay a hefty amount for him to have his ERA now 5.50. Couldn't agree more.
  14. I feel like we're back on the upswing.
  15. I like having baseball in the summer. I could do track and baseball that way, an option not available to me here.
  16. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:15 PM) whats wrong with her having a pair of manboobs?

    QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 06:51 PM) So you'd be advocating finding another CF just so that Ozzie might stop playing Mack out there? Hmm, this makes a strange amount of sense...and is probably as good of a justification for replacing Brian as I've seen (and about the only one IMO). I took his comment to mean that we should acquire a backup OF that could play a good CF, but maybe I'm wrong. I definitely don't advocate replacing Brian and I think Brian needs little to no days off.
  18. I can't take anymore. What in the fish is PFB?
  19. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 03:21 PM) No Vazquez is a slider We all know linking to other sites is wrong Greg.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) It's a debate between Mr. Optimism and Mr. Pessimism, and I'm sticking up for Ozzie. At least the only game we lose is the game Javy pitches, I really feel good about the rest of the starters.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 03:15 PM) I could just imagine the outrage on here if he left in Thornton, and he blew the game. Thornton had pitched in all 3 games this wknd, and it doesn't matter how many innings he threw. For relievers, they typically end up throwing more pitches warming up in the bullpen than they do on the mound. I guarantee Jenks through a significantly larger amount of pitches than Thornton, not to mention Thornton has kicked their asses. I was saying how dumb it was to put Jenks in before we even brought him in. At least wait till Thornton gets in trouble. Nonetheless, Vazquez should have been pulled in the 6th after letting a batter reach base. Not after spiff goes south.

    Zito?

    QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 03:09 PM) The only way I see Vazquez heading to Oakland is if we're prepared to pick up a significant chunk of his contract. Small market A's aren't going to want a $12M bust. Well the DBacks and Yankees are picking up half of his contract for next year, we throw in a couple more million and he turns into a $4M bust.
  23. This is Ozzie's fault. Pitching Bobby for a third straight day after he's looked like spiff the past two days is just stupid. I'm getting sick of this "He's my closer so he will always close" bullspiff. We should have left Thornton in, he only threw 7 pitches the inning before and threw just 1/3 of an inning each of our previous 2 games, not to mention how dominating he has looked.
