you've got to be kidding me!
  2. our outfield: scott podsednik aaron rowand jermaine dye carl everett timo perez joe borchard alex escobar too many people! we dont have a backup middle infieler, but we have possibly 7 outfielders, and only two of them have a possibility of being sent to minors. if ozzie wants to keep borchard/escobar, our roster is screwed, especially since he's considering keeping 12-14 pitchers
  3. we have what is a lot of money for us, but not much compared to yanks, angels, etc.
  4. i liked his offense even more than his awesome defense he's a good guy, sure, but so is my next door neighbor.
  5. i dont know....washburn sure couldnt hurt
  6. that's because he always beats the hell out of us
  7. i have this hunch that everyone but the yanks gets screwed in this deal.....btw what makes vazquez so good anyway? his stats weren't any better than garland's
  8. Man with a monster heater...will he be the next Randy Johnson or the next Billy Koch? You tell me. Will alcoholism and lack of control (mentally and physically) prevent him from reaching his potential? Position: P Born: Mar 14,1981 Place: Mission Hills,CA Height: 6-3 Weight: 225 Bats: R Throws: R Drafted: Selected by Anaheim Angels in 5th Round (140th Overall) of 2000 amateur draft. 2003 stats(mainly hurt in 2004) 7-2 2.17 ERA 16 GS 83 IP 56 H 20 ER 2 HR 103 K 1.29 WHIP
  9. its a matter of how our bottom 2 perform (with randy) contreras and garland could suck, or they could tear it up, or be solid 4 and 5's

    Deja Vu?

I dont want to trade any of our rotation. If you do that, sure you have an great starter but you're falling down the bottomless pit of fifth starters again! Dump Lee, I think Konerko might be a bit more of a clubhouse presence and I am personally not a huge fan of Lee's. If we could keep both that would be great too.

    Rowand

Rowands been slumping lately. He's 4 for his last 25, and i want to see him finish on a high note. Does a good manager sit him for the rest of the year or let him play it out the last couple?
  12. "potential"....the most dangerous word in sports.
  13. When I saw you guys talking about working hard to improve, i thought about aaron rowand. about a year ago i started hearing about how he had been working on his fielding, and now he is IMO a gold glove caliber centerfielder. hittingwise, .310 isnt s***house luck either. you cant tell me some work wasnt put into that. Of course, it does appear he gets some credit. maybe not too underrated
  14. one problem with burke 32 years old.
  15. Playerwise, i think we got the better of the deal. But Contreras' contract is too big.
  16. 7-10 months for him to be able to function at all as an athlete. Many players who have had ACL tears have said that they aren't 100% for a good two years, if ever.
  17. we do have some room to trade, but we're not a small market team so we shouldnt have to act or play like one.
  18. Kenny was getting to a point of desperation trying to win to keep his job and credibility. Sadly, credibility is what he lost in the deal and maybe his job soon will be lost too.
  19. If we competed in the AL East, that's because you're a great team. If you compete in the AL Central, thats because you're in a weak division.
  20. Well we'd all win if we had 200 million to spend.
  21. Thomas can't produce, goes down with injury. Everett continues sucking, but must play. Ordonez signs to yankees. Valentin resigned, Uribe moves to second. Rowand hurt, replaced by Harris in center. Davis, Burke, and Alomar provide no production. Konerko tears up first half, blasting 30, but enters home run derby and slumps the rest of the year. Lee decides he's a basestealer, attempting to steal everytime he gets on. 13 SB 87 CS. Brandon McCarthy starts 5-0 with a perfect game and only 3 ER. Goes down with torn labrum. Crede plays to his .220 20HR 50RBI expectation. Buehrle goes 12-12, along with Freddy Garcia, both with near 5 ERA's. Contreras goes 7-16, leading the league with 54 wild pitches. Throws 4 fastballs all year. Garland pitches to a 8-8 record and a 4 and a half ERA. Many fifth starters tried, but to no avail. Sox finish dead last in MLB.

    Garland

We definitely need a fifth starter. You can't have a winning season when 20% of your games are automatic losses.
