  1. Yeah-- check out these pics of Oswaldo: http://deportes.eluniversal.com/2005/11/05...05A628919.shtml He meets with Chavez next week! I love the fact that the World Series trophy now resides in a Communist Paradise!
  2. PK should get 3 years at $50 million. Anything longer or for more money is just not worth it. Long term big money deals always turn out to be bad for the team. If he won't take $16.5 million/year, with a 3-year guarantee, then he's not worth it. Let him go to NY and endure the media circus.. Put Dye at first, put Anderson in right, give Garland some more cash and let the chips fall where they may.
  3. Genesis? Time to steer this conversation in a different direction. I heard Arto Lindsey was in town this weekend.
  4. Does anyone have a definative, complete list of Sox minor leaguers who are playing winter ball in Puerto Rico, DR, and/or Venezeula? Thanks!
  5. Hey-- Does anyone know of a place where I can pick up some cheap, bootleg Sox championship gear? I saw a few guys selling shirts for $5 outside Union Station (at Jackson and the river) last week, but they're gone now. there is one guy who sells "official" stuff at Adams and the river, but he wants $20 for a hat... Help - I need to do some Xmas shopping and have limited funds
  6. Since he's not taken yey, I'll adopt Hogs axeman Tom Collaro. I've been following him for two seasons. In 2004, with Great Falls, he posted some impressive numbers. I was told, however that offensive numbers in the league were inflated - that's just the nature of the Pioneer League. Here's what he did in 2004: in 66 games, 268 at bats, . 287 BA, .560 slg, 77 hits, 48 runs, 150 total bases, 18 homers 67 RBIs, - top 5 in homers, at bats, triples, RBIs, and total bases (and, ugh, strikeouts). It was enough to get him a promotion to High A Winston-Salem. This year, here's what we got: in 133 games, 531 at bats, 140 hits, .299/.490/.264, 68 runs, 27 doubles, 29 homers, 100 RBIs. He led the Carolina League in homers (tied with teammate Daigle), 2nd in RBIs (again, Daigle), and top 5 in total bases. On the negative side, he struck out 153 times, which also led the league.
  7. Arbitration.. right, got it.. just too lazy TO TYPE IT IN LARGE ANNOYING BIG BOLD LETTERS! the point being, who is NOT under contract.. who will be back, and who won't. I knew about Thomas... no way they'll exercise his option. AJ's option - player or club?
  8. I don't want to spoil the party, but which of the 2005 Sox are now free agents? I know Konerko and Garland... I think AJ just had a one-year deal.... Who else?
  9. 0 the championship stuff is tacky and makes fans look like they just jumped on the bandwagon.
  10. 85 Bears - hands down... I was 16 in 1985 and remember it well. For a few years there, in the mid to late 80s, the city would come to a stand still when the Bears played, kinda like what happens in Brazil during the World Cup. The 85 Bears were the greatest - a national phenomenon. The parade was just insane - the entire Lopp was up for grabs. I'd put the 05 Sox ahead of all 6 Bulls titles combined. But then again, I'm not much of a basketball fan. But the 85 Bears, nothing will top that...
  11. Near as I can tell, backi n April 2005, after the Montgomery Biscuits (AA-Southern League) sent him down to the Hudson Valley Renegades of the NY-League (Low A short season), he's been out of baseball. Both Crede and Bill Melton had a lot of priase for this guy's defensive abilities. What went wrong for him? Couldn't hit? Nose candy? what?
  12. This article is propagande. I hear that Cuba is really a Communist paradise!

    Films

I watched "The Man With The Golden Arm" last night starring Frank Sinatra. Its the film version of the famous Nelson Algren book. Sinatra won an Oscar for his performance. Great old film.
  14. As an old man - 36 - I've been avoiding all thing rock and anything with lyrics for a long time now. Call me lame, I prefer jazz like Miles Davis, and lots of Brazilian music. The only rock to turn my crank in the past few years is Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, though I also liked the new Cary Hudson, and I hear the new Nada Surf is good too... Beyond that, as far as new stuff in rock goes, the bone has pretty much been picked dry.
  15. The real key for beating Houston? Score more runs that they do, and win more games. DUH!
  16. This is totally unbelievable: http://southsideadventures.blogspot.com/
  17. I'm willing to pay face... Please... I'd love to take my 5 year old son to this game - his first game ever... Please call me at work number via a PM...
  18. I think Dye's injury might possibly have actually been the clap, or crabs, brought on by some stripper he met in Cleveland.
  19. I've got two bleacher seats, section 160 row 7 that I can't use. I'm willing to sell them for face ($80 for the pair) if you can pick them up in the Loop before 5 pm.
  20. I've been talking about Collaro on my blog since last year... I've got an interview with him from my post on May 6. He doesn't say much, but he does talk about working with Ibanez on his discipline at the plate. I just did a piece on daigle this week.
  21. how may times do I have to say it? I HAVE ONE TICKET FOR FACE IF ANYONE WANTS IT. BLEACHERS SECTION 160 ROW 7.
  22. yo asshatsoxfan. I have a bleacher ticket, section 160 for face $40... Its yours if you want it...
  23. I've got an extra ticket to the game... and I'd like to tailgate. the ticket is bleacher sec 160, row 7 I think. I'm willing to take face at this point...
  24. Those MIT kids are crazy. The impression is that they are all nerds, but I know better. I went to a REAL party school - Ohio U. I went to visit my cousin, a southsider, who was an A student studying structural engineering at MIT in the mid-1980s. I have never seen more alcohol in my life. During the week, they worked hard, and on the weekends, man, they partied H-A-R-D. They're alwways doing crazy, high level genius stuff that takes partying up a notch. the only reason they're never included in Princeton Reviews Top Prarty Schools is because the place is a sausage factory. There are MIT 10 guys for every MIT "girl" (usually a short fat dopey Asian girl).
