  1. Garcia got through the 3rd with out any blood Ortiz got on b/c of an error by the first baseman add another K to Garcia's totals (Beltre) 1-0 Domincans, Venezuela coming up to bat
  2. Garcia looks solid tonight! I dont know who it was, but one of the announcers was complimenting Garcia, saying that his whole mound presence is different after the white sox post season... he was less "figity", much more solid out there on the mound, and throwing many more strikes... even in pressure situations. Right now he is at 2 IP, 1 ER, 2 SO, 1 BB (I believe it was intentional) I'd have to say, if anyone in this tourny would be able to feed off his team winning the WBC and have it have a positive effect on his season, it would be Garcia... his problem in the past seemed to always be intensity, maybe playing some meaningful pressure games here early in the year will have quite the positive effect of Freddy.
  3. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 08:36 AM) Alex Cintron had been playing very nicley for PR also. Vazquez was down right nasty vs DOM. Wow, I totally forgot about him anyways, in 20 AB .300 BA / .300 OBP 1 HR 4 RBI not bad at all, PR is also playing tomorrow (the 15th), no idea if he is schedualed to play...
  4. sorry if its already been posted (if its somewhere i didnt look feel free to delete), didnt see it anywhere so i thought i'd bring it up in case anyone isnt following our boys in the tourny. And maybe if they stick around in the tourny there should be a thread devoted to the boys not in Arizona. Vazquez pitches nicely against the stacked DR team 5 IP, 1 ER, 5 SO, 0 BB that now gives him 8 IP, 2 ER, 7 SO, 2 BB for the tourny (vs panama and DR) Garcia is slated to pitch against the DR tomorrow (March 14th, 6:00pm central time), but had a solid outing in the first round vs Italy 3.1 IP, 0ER, 7 SO, 1 BB ( I think that outing has been discussed earlier)
  5. Thome Stats throughout the central US Cell 210AB .286/.382 18HR 50RBI Metrodome 251AB .351/.424 23HR 83RBI Jacobs 2061AB .306/.440 176HR 500RBI Kauffman 192AB .276/.453 9HR 22RBI Has had some trouble at Comerica only hitting like .230 with 7HR in about 80AB I like to see these numbers b/c our success in the central was one of the keys to winning our division last year. Although some are "more great" than others, all but Comerica are above average for him (except the power numbers in KC). Even though a lot of people seem to be writing off the twins, I definately am not, and I am very glad to see the numbers he puts up in the dome (b/c we historically have struggled there), and he seems to already like playing at the cell... cant wait to see him there day in and day out!!
  6. Just email the ticket office, they got back to me in like a half hour ( i didnt get a code either), can we just post it here? Its not like everyone gets their own personalized password.
  7. Charlotte, NC is just barely north of the border. Fort Mill, SC is just barely south of the border The "Charlotte Knights" does refer to the NC charlotte, even thought they are in SC. Edit: a simple mapquest can prolly make that less confusing... so for those that are "visual people" (like me), here ya go (unfortunately, you have to zoom out a little to see what im talking about) http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searc...=&zipcode=29715
  8. Okay, So Hernandez has now officially hit the DL for the second time this season, BMAC gets a second try up here in the bigs. And in an underscore on the sox official site it said "McCarthy pitching for possible spot in the starting rotation" Now that quote right there made me decide to actually post these thoughts I was having early today at work to pass the time. I was thinking.. "Now what if BMac comes up and preforms like spring training, gets a couple great starts up here" Okay, well the reason that could cause an interesting situation is with Viz struggling out of the pen, and Hernandez having trouble staying healthy. I was thinking maybe it could be worth looking into throwing Hernandez in Viz's spot, and trade Viz for some prospects, or in a deal for whatever... I dont really want to mess with much at this point, we are doing so well. So what do you guys think? Would Hernandez make a good pen guy? Would it even be on the sox radar of things to think about? Would the sox trust a rookie in the SR in the heat of a pennant race? I think Hernandez could replace Vizciano quite well, and improve our bullpen to be one of the best in the league. And an added bonus, if we run into closer trouble (hopefully we wont), he would be the first person I would want in those 9th innings in the playoffs. Of course this would all depend on BMac doing well, Anyways, tell me what you think. I may just have been having a crazy day-dream.
  9. Contreras is looking nasty today, I hope he keeps it up and we see a lot of "this jose" for the rest of the year
  10. Westbrook pitched about as good as he could today too, good to see the sox finding a way to win a game like this... a sign of a good team

    BMac!

didnt see this posted anywere... if it is im sorry, feel free to delete http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...t=.jsp&c_id=mlb
  12. QUOTE(Confederate_48 @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) Heres the grades the Sox got Lineup B- Defense B Starting Pitching B+ Bullpen B+ Intangibles C Was that on the show?!? If so I will take that grade... above average everywere except intangibles... and thats probably just b/c we dont really have a utility player yet
  13. haha... the padres guys are also saying how Crede had "good numbers" last year.... that hurt my ears.... however i still think he will be a lot better this year
  14. just in case anyone is interested... the padres announcers are talking abou thow balanced our team is... and if they stay healthy they can easily be in contention.
  15. can someone give me an update on the frank interveiw?? im not in "tv range" here in iowa... so i have to listen to the game on the radio
  16. They said frank was throwing into a wall, taking ground balls, hitting in the cage, and he even jogged a little... even though im sure all this was at a snail like pace, thats really good news if you ask me
  17. Iguchi gets his first hits of the spring! single and a double
  18. IIRC Iguchi fouled his first bunt attempt off the plate, my guess would be thats the shot we are seeing... then he sac bunted to the pitcher and the pitcher booted it, i do hope that he wasnt bunting like that with his hands though or he will break some fingers... maybe the bat got knocked back in his hand after contact (i know that happened to me every once in a while) although on a closer look it doesnt seem like the "bat being knocked back in his hand" idea looks correct... he is griping the bat
  19. I am so glad to hear of this move!!! We finally have a rotation going into the season, first time in a while you could say that... even if there is a question mark, its alot smaller than the ones we've had in the past! If you ask me, we have two pitchers who could win 20 games (not saying they will, just saying they are that calibur) and the other three all can win 15 (obviously they wont b/c one will be the fifth guy and have limited starts) but i am happy just being able to say that.... Hell of alot better than that crap we threw out last year at the begining of the season... Buerhle Garcia Contreas Garland Hernandez or Buerhle Loaiza Garland Schoe blah I'll take that kind of improvement
  20. hey, money question here I was just wondering what the payroll would look like if the whole Vazquez thing happens.... and if that "non-rumor" about us matching the angels offer for Clement is indeed true, is there any chance in the world we could land both? Or would that be way over our payroll?
  21. Hey, When I herd of the spod trade, like everyone else i was a little heart broken CLee is gone, but I got over it pretty quick... I figure we can afford to lose the power. Anyways, Just a thought i had... is anyone else kinda excited that willie is actually going to be able to see someone that KNOWS how to steal bases work on a regular bases? I think Spod can teach Willie something about the "art" he seems to lack. With Willies speed he can easily steal 50 a year... maybe all he needs is someone to show him how its done. If that does indeed pan out, and Willie gets a little better with his bat (wich i feel like he slowly has over the time i have seen him) we could possibly have the top two in our order stealing bases left and right... followed by the boppers Dye, Thomas, and Konerko to nock those 2 in... thats a formula for some serious runs. Anyways... that was just a thought i had, I hope it works out and Spod can show Willie the are of stealing.... Go Willie!
  22. Instinct tells me he would come for not too much money, most of those guys seem to mostly just want a chance... I guess i kinda feel like "why not?" we know that we most likley wont go out and sign a high priced stud to replace anyone (except maybe pitching, maybe). And KW does like to go for the "risks" i feel like. So if he does have an upside, and its not all that great a cost, i want to see him "getting his shot" on the south side (or in their minor system)
  23. yeah, here ya go http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb...s_mlb&fext=.jsp
  24. Hey, my first post here on Soxtalk... I stop by and read once in a while, but decided to join the fun on this one... With the loss of Maggs in RF, what do you guys think about that Korean guy maybe replacing him? Jong-Soo Shim i think? mlb.com said he batted about .330 with 50ish HR and 125+ RBIs last year... and he had a spring training with the Marlins were Ozzie saw his stuff (and seemed to impress him and the other coaches down there). I know this guys isnt the fix for the "speed" ozzie wants, dont know about how good he is defensivly or at small ball. But if we trade Pualie to fill some of the other holes, this guy could provide us with some lost power (especially since who knows how frank will do next year, he had a rough time coming back from injury last time). Anyways, since he already has experiance with ozzie maybe we will try and pursue him a little... Just wanted to see what everyone here thought. -Steve
