  1. QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 23, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) This is back to back days off for AaRow, no? No
  2. Damn, I just went to turn the radio on and realized there's 2 more hours still.
  3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 23, 2005 -> 04:57 PM) That's what I saw, I was wondering what Lee was doing. Uribe's English is supposedly very poor. I don't know if he can say foul. Did he actually say something to Lee, which I find hard to believe that Lee would be able to hear him and understand him, or did Lee go by Uribe holding up his hands. I was wondering about this myself, but I decided "foul ball" is a common enough phrase that he must know that by now.
  4. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ May 23, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) I don't know about you guys but even a 5 game lead ahead of Minnesota doesn't make me comfortable. Esspecially since its still only May. We need to have a successful road trip. Like split in Anaheim or take 3 of 4 and take 2 of 3 in Texas. If we do that we should be in great shape. I'm not sure how much longer Garland can keep this up, but I like his chances tonite in his home-state. Keep it up Jon G!!!! Not comfortable? Where did you think we would be at point in the season? The only team with a bigger lead is the Cardinals and that division is s*** this year. I don't mean to sound like I think it's wrapped up, but I think we are way ahead of anybody's expectations.
  5. The NFL has just announced that punt returners are no longer able to signal a fair catch when they have no intention of catching a ball. Also, play action passes will no longer be allowed as they are an attempt to deceive the defense.
  6. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ May 23, 2005 -> 10:56 AM) I would make this trade in the offseason after the Sox win the Series, then as someone pointed out, we have the repalcement for Pauly and the money we save go out and grab say a AJ BURNETT . But, not now there is no way I do this deal till end of season. Can Crede be traded after the season ends? And exactly how much money would we be saving? Trading McCarthy this early is a bad idea.
  7. QUOTE(southsider17 @ May 23, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) The basket fencing pattern clearly ends at the perimeter of the ball, indicating the pattern is behind the ball. The large size of the seams is due to the distortion from enlarging the photo. You can even see the fencing pattern stop at the ball perimeter in the normal sized shot. I don't think anything is perfectly clear in that picture. Look at that fence, it's all bent out of shape at the bottom, meaning that the pattern of the links are ditsorted. I think that is what you see on the ball. The angle of the pattern on the ball seems sharper than the seams. Also, I remember on the replay a Cub fan waving his arm in a circle the way umps indicate a homerun. Not that this matters anyway as stated earlier, but as long as we're talking about it, that's what I see.
  8. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 23, 2005 -> 09:12 AM) It's a Sox fan tradition to b**** about mariotti. I think it's just Sox fan tradition to b****.
  9. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 22, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) 4.60 ERA in AAA doesn't sound too impressive, but I wish JB luck. Lower than BMAC's.
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 22, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) That's awesome. Too bad I dished out a lot for an Ordonez 2003 All-Star Game jersey and now he sucks. I thought it would be great to have that jersey since I was at the game and it fell on my golden birthday. Did you take a golden shower that day?
  11. I thought McCarthy looked really good today and I didn't want to see Ozzie pull him. But one thing raised a concern and I haven't read all of the threads so this may have already been discussed. He got a lot of fly ball outs and very few groundouts. Will he be able to get away with this back at US Cellular?
  12. I am out of town, who does this guy write for?
  13. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 19, 2005 -> 06:35 PM) I'm sure that the AL Yankees, er All Stars will do a fine job representing the AL. The 2005 Sox have been underestimated long since before the season began -- why are we suddenly expecting respect at the ASG? The ASG lost all significance for me when Giambi was made a starter with his .220 something batting average. But Torre will not select the reserves this year, it is Francona, so there probably won't be as many Yankees. Also, again, starting position players are voted in by fans.
  14. QUOTE(TheDybber @ May 19, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) I can find 60's and 80's uniforms, but not the dark blue with the white Chicago lettering. Anyone know where I can get my hands on one? Maybe at Comiskey? I think Grandstand has them online.

    The Dells..

    When I went to the Dells, my bumper boat ran out of gas. That is all I remember.
  16. My dad always used to tell me that Ted Williams had great vision and could supposedly see the spin of the ball better than most.
  17. QUOTE(longshot7 @ May 18, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) Does anyone remember that song about William Perry that B96 used to play during the 85 season? It went something like , "They call in the Fridge - when they're on the goal line - they call in the Fridge - and it's six points every time!" I have the Super Bowl Shuffle on mp3 - I'm trying to complete the 85 Bears novelty song collection. Let me know if you want a copy. Did part of it go like this? Perry, Perry, Refrigerator Perry Rompin' and a-stompin' for the Bears I would love a copy.
  18. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ May 19, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) This is Ken Rosenthal's response to my e-mail...obvioulsy this was B.S....he didn't start this... "I seriously doubt it. Chavez is in the first year of a six-year, $66 million deal. " OK, so lock this thread, it's all moot anyway.
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 19, 2005 -> 09:59 AM) They always do it before the first El-series games. Its tradition. Ahhh, a tradition as old as inter-league play.
  20. But why write this article in May?
  21. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 19, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) Pitchers have everything to do with performance. Ok, then it matters for 2 starters out of 18.
  22. ATTENTION TO THOSE WHO APPARENTLY DO NOT KNOW: Performance has nothing to do with the All-Star starters, it's who the voters select.
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 19, 2005 -> 09:43 AM) Its all about the votes folks, and 1 billion Japanese can really click those mice. That's one crowded island.
  24. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 18, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) Interesting story....but still the worst nickname ever. IMO, of course. Blasphemy, esp. in Pale Hose Talk

    Marte

    QUOTE(YASNY @ May 17, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) It's much better than falling behind with three straight balls, and then grooving a 3-1 pitch right down the heart of the plate. I guess, if those are your only 2 options.
