  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 01:01 PM) I think Chris Sale straight up for Kung Fu Panda is a good deal.
  2. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 12:34 AM) What I hate even more than the Sox playing at 9:05 pm on Opening Day is the fact that there are now THREE "Opening Night" games to kick off the season. 3 games back-to-back, starting at noon on Sunday. And the marquee match-up that they always start with is the 3rd game. So the biggest game of opening night is actually the 3rd game played. That's a bummer. I always liked the build up and anticipation for that first fulfillment of baseball on the night before every else started. Was Mets vs. KC opening day scheduled before the World Series?
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 10:45 AM) Pitching line up https://twitter.com/ChiTribKane/status/712301604989341698 Anybody know what the arrows mean?
  4. QUOTE (hi8is @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 11:47 PM) Even if that was the case, the time to raise the concern was the offseason and the voice for it sure as he'll isn't KW. It couldn't happen in the off season because how could the new players even suspect what the situation was. And KW is exactly the person that should do it because that keeps Robin and Hahn out of the mess.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 02:08 PM) A player can't just retire temporarily to clear a contract out, guys could do something like that in order to get to free agency. That contract would still be in force if he were to un-retire. Well yeah, but at the same time, if a team moves on and spends that money, they shouldn't be on the hook for the original contract.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 01:46 PM) If he changes his mind during this season he would still be under contract with the White Sox. Seriously? That is absurd.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 12:33 PM) Only if he un-retires. There may be a small portion of it that they'd have to pay to cover the time he was present in ST, not sure exactly how those are structured, whether there is money included for ST or just for the 162 game season. While retired he receives no payment for the time he's gone. Were he to un-retire the White Sox would be on the hook for that deal again and he would be required to show up and meet his part of the contract - should he try to unretire while not showing up or something like that the White Sox could fine him for his absences and failure to meet his contract. Are you saying that if he changes his mind next month, then his contract is still valid?
  8. QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 12:24 PM) Are the White Sox on the hook for any amount of LaRoche's salary this year? Someone I know is trying to tell me the contracts are guaranteed and that they owe him his salary this year. No, he quit.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 11:05 AM) KW isn't one of those things though. And we have no idea what KW told him. A player or a coach or a manager had a problem, he may have just said he had a problem. If you take KW at his first word, he just said he asked him to dial it back. That isn't saying his presence was making a teammate or coach or manager uncomfortable. And addressing it doesn't necessarily mean not coming in. It could mean avoiding the player or coach or many other things. If it bothered KW, I am fine with him asking, but LaRoche IMO had every right to say no. Then IMO, KW should have dropped it. He would have dropped it if a productive player retired, and would be considered a massive idiot by many praising him now mentioning who brings their kids to work over losing a player over something so trivial. It wasn't Romper room. The kid is 14, and held his own. Remained quiet, worked around the clubhouse, and didn't cause problems. KW isn't one of those, and we don't know what KW said. But we also don't know what the original verbal agreement was. There are a lot of assumptions going around including your stance about the agreement since nobody really knows what was agreed on.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) If it was breaking a previous agreement, yes. Besides, it doesn't appear KW has much respect from the clubhouse. Telander may be on to something. But the battles against KW didn't just begin. He appears he is turning into a Jerry Crumbs Krause type. The Bulls players and coaches hated Crumbs. DA, you keep bringing up the handshake agreement. LaRoche said in his statement, "Though I clearly indicated to both teams the importance of having my son with me, I also made clear that if there was ever a moment when a teammate, coach or manager was made to feel uncomfortable, then I would immediately address it." KW talked to him about it and it seems he did not address it immediately or a week later. AL may have broken the agreement first.
  11. Wasn't it reported that AL & KW spoke last week about scaling it back? It seems AL didn't comply and then KW said then not at all.
  12. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 01:51 PM) Alright, so... can someone explain WTF is going on here? I've caught bits and pieces for the last few days, but why are all the Sox players butthurt all the sudden? *confused* Supposedly Drake LaRoche was a big piece of the puzzle this season.
  13. So did KW know this would be LaRoche's reaction and do this on his own?
  14. I don't believe Sox management would have told LaRoche his son could always be around without 1. seeing how the son behaved in that setting and 2. seeing how the rest of the team & coaches responded to the kid being there so much.
  15. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 06:13 PM) The Cubs are a bit mouthy for a team that hasn't won anything in over a century. Haven't you heard? They won the 2016 World Series.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 03:11 PM) This was posted 14 hours ago, but thought it was interesting that LaRoche's meat company retweeted it: Desmond Howard ‏@DesmondHoward 14h14 hours ago Hmmmm, I'm thinking that Adam LaRoche will have a very short "retirement". So is LaRoche officially retired yet? I don't see any way he could change his mind and come back now.
  17. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 11:33 AM) Lawrie is going to have to play 3B whenever Frazier needs a day off, so the backup 2B will have to effectively spell two players. And if LaRoche ever goes on the DL, Frazier is the only one with ample playing time at 1B, so that would mean Lawrie plays 3B on those days as well. If LaRoche goes on the DL they would probably bring somebody up who can ply 1B.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 08:35 PM) Lawrie helped me to a fantasy baseball title the year he was called up. For that I am thankful. Nobody cares about your 2011 fantasy team.
  19. QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 06:56 PM) I have completely soured on rap. I can't even get myself to listen to Kendrick's or Kanye's new albums now and I just don't like Drake despite his skills. Just grew out of it unfortunately. Mostly listen to rock/alternative or singer/songwriter type stuff but everything I listen to is old. Whether it's five years old or forty years old, it's old. I can't get myself into any new music. I feel like this genre is dying. All the kids like country, EDM and like 16 year old rappers who do weird drugs or Gang bang or have one eye. Long story short, I need help being directed towards up and coming alternative or singer/songwriter type music. I hate country, I hate EDM and can't get into new rap. I like Counting Crows, Modest Mouse, Nirvana, REM, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, Arcade Fire, Elliott Smth, Avett Brothers, Wilco, Silversun Pickups, Band of Horses, Bon Iver, Paul Simon, Pixies, etc. What is something newish and still active that I would like? Please and thank you. Not new, but definitely active is My Morning Jacket. I've seen them play shows with Band of Horses & Wilco. I listen to several of the bands you mentioned and to me they are the best music out there right now. I would not start with the most recent album, it's probably not the best introduction to them.
  20. I can get you some pictures. You can photoshop your head on my body if you want.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 27, 2016 -> 07:46 PM) Anyone know where f it costs anything to see the Grand Canyon? Maybe moving to Arizona and thinking of stopping there on way even though it's a couple of hours out of the way. I took a shuttle from the Flagstaff airport a couple years ago and a $6 per rider fee was included in the shuttle cost.
