QUOTE(Allsox @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) I went to both ALDS, Gm 2 of ALCS and Gm 2 of the WS and here's my top 5: 5) Frank throwing out the 1st pitch before ALDS Gm 1 4) Iguchi's 3 run HR off Shrek (AKA Wells) in Gm 2 of ALDS 3) Crede's double in Gm 2 to tie the ALCS 2) Paulie's grand slam in Gm 2 of the WS. The roar and celebration of the crowd was absolutely thunderous and is something I will never forget in my life. 1) Pod's walkoff HR in Gm 2 of the WS. The pure joy and "shock" that Pods just hit a HR to win a World Series game still leads me to shake my head in disbelief whenever I think about it! Plus, everyone not wanting to leave so they could sing Thunderstuck and Go-Go White Sox added to the effect Honorable mention goes to when the crowd serenaded Clement in Gm 1 with the Na-na, Hey, Hey after he was taken out....That was amazing hearing 40K Sox fans SCREAM that song at him I have to agree with everything here. Although, I was not there for #4.

QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 10:13 AM) There is mention of the pitching, but I didnt notice anything about the defense. The pitching is on page two I saw they breifly mentioned the pitching, but it was the most important driver of this team, not our leadoff hitters slugging %. I just get angry at these articles because they so conveniently leave out important info. By the way, this article was brought to my attention by a scrubs fan who claims because of this we have no chance at repeating. I am truly enjoying the jealousy.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) We should care about the on base percentage. The slugging is secondary. Which is why the stats geeks need to refine the OPS to reflect position in the order. It may be 75-25 for the lead off guy and 35-65 for the cleanup hitter. That's a very valid point. Of course, there's also no mention of our improved pitching and defense. But, who really cares about such things.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) Trying to pin down which bar we'll be tearing up later tonight. I have friends scattered all over and of course no one wants to drive. One thing is for damn sure, I'll be makin' the liver quiver. Down to: 1. Shoeless Joe's 2. Hawkeye's 3. Bourbon St. I'll be at Bourbon St.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 08:40 AM) Nobody on the radio, nobody on TV, nobody on this board. Nobody has mentioned the players last night celebrating while holding up the number 4. Willie was doing it, Widger was, everyone was holding up the number 4 in the late innings. And when Blum won the game for us, he walked to the dugout and everyone was giving high fives using the number 4. This is because the bench players were known as the forgotten 4 or the group 4 as they have been referred to on ESPN.com. They were all going crazy for the members of the 4 to be contributing and actually performing very well. Widge played well, Willie had a nice SB, Blum won the game, etc, etc. Many props. the four I noticed that too last night Rock. I don't think anyone in the media picked up in it, but it eas great to see.

QUOTE(SoxPhan7 @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) i think that maybe our bodies are setting up a defense mechanism to keep us from getting hurt if the sox lose. Our bodies are keeping us from getting to high when we win and to low if we lose. I have to believe your right. Although, I was going crazy at the game after both Pauly and Pods homers.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) Rock, it was pretty awesome. I've never hugged more men in my life. Absolutely gross. and the picture of me with the Sox World Series banner in the background....awesome. I was in a bear hug last night with three strangers that wieghed a combined 1000 pounds and I couldn't have been happier.

If your an insider, you can listen to the interview. It's good. http://insider.espn.go.com/insider/radio/a...name=dp_podcast

I tried on 12 computers....nothing. I called 25 different numbers.....busy.

Even after last night, Lidge really scares me. I think we can hit the Cardinals pitching.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) Just wait until next years' Crosstown Series at The Cell. When the Sox take the Field, Gene Honda will announce, "Your World Champion, Chicago White Sox." Then, just look around at the Cub fans and smile. I just got the chills.

I'm not sure this has fully settled in. I can't stop watching the highlights.

QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) It's funny cuz you are accurate. Rex just said Scosia should have pulled his guys off the feild and let AJ score. It would have put a lot of pressure on the umps. I don't think he realizes the game would have been over.
-
If you write him an angry e-mail he will read it and talk about how bitter Sox fans are, and how big of an inferiority complex they have. :finger Ever since he went solo, his show sucks.

QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) Off topic and not worth another thread, but Rex Hudler, not the soxtalk poster, is gonna be on with MJH to give an LA point of view around 3:30. He's on now.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Okay: I think his flip-flopping of team allegiance is GROSS(E), I don't see the POINT of it, and now I don't like that blankety-BLANK. Let's not forget the Serendipity that brought him from the Cubs to the Sox.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 08:12 AM) I guess we're seeing his True Colors? He keeps switching sides, he has no Class.

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 07:39 AM) There's really no need to argue whether he caught it or not. It's the umps call. It's like arguing balls and strikes...Sometimes they're right sometimes they're wrong. What can't be argued is whether or not he said "You're Out" which he didnt. The ump was very clear in the press conference last night. He never said 'You're Out' and he was waiting for Josh Paul to tag AJ. Also, AJ was behind the plate the whole game. He new the umps mechanics and verbal calls. Paul had just gotten into the game. He's also a backup catcher who rarely sees playing time. I doubt he's very familiar with Eddings. I'm siding woth AJ on this.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) DENIED!!! You were combining "Balitmore Chop" and "Bolingbrook Bounce." You just beat me to it.

QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) As someone who was there, the crowd was still cheering when the team was down. It's just that some of our hitting innings went by so fast, it was hard to really get into it. I find this thread amusing considering all the attendance/fan issues we've had in the past. Sometimes, the crowd would get hyped up and then it seemed the commercial breaks were would kill it. I don't know if they really are that much longer during the playoffs, but it sure seemed like it yesterday.
-
QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 07:13 AM) I agree...the crowd was jacked before the game....and then after that Garrett Anderson HR, it was quieted. Game 2 of the ALDS was very similar. We got down early, the crowd was quiet until the 5th and then we went nuts. The crowd was jacked before the game, but nothing like either game last week. Half of my section didn't get up once and many didn't even seem to know or care who was playing. I hate how MLB distributes tickets for the playoffs.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) Awesome! I loved it when he and his brother were on Star Trek. . . I just about peed myself!!

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 08:12 AM) No, it's supply, demand, and graft during the initial sale. Then it is supply and demand from a much richer crowd during the resale from brokers. I would really love to know what percentage of the 10K or so tickets to each of the games us ordinary people going through ordinary channels actually have a chance of getting for face value through TicketMaster. People can say what they like about Eddie Vedder and company musically. But he hit it on the head when he came out and said TicketMaster and the unfair advantage they give the brokers keeps the average fan of modest means from getting tickets to the events they care about, while assholes with money to burn perpetuate the problem by paying 5-10x face and lining the pockets of the scalpers. I am a big Pearl Jam fan and followed that suit closely. They were one of the largest acts on the planet, at the time, and couldn't even stir a scare into ticketbastard. It baffles me how they are not regulated as a monopoly.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) I had 7 f***ing computers going out 4 different sites to maximize my ability. I had quantities of 1 and 2 varied on those computers, and still got f***ing shut out. I guess I am drinking at home watching it on the big screen. OH WELL I did the same thing on six computers and got shut out. It just doesn't seem right. The only person that I talked to that got through is form out of state.
