QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) Didn't see this posted yet and I usually hate the anti-national media bashing because soxtalk posters appear paranoid beyond recognition but I figured you'd guys would get fired up by this heading into Friday and t'd make you want the win even more. "White Sox fans won't ever be confused with the most knowledgeable fan bases in the game. In the first inning, they cheered wildly on three White Sox routine outs; one to short, a medium fly ball to center and a groundout to second. We can chalk it up, I guess, to overexuberance. Or, more likely, to lack of postseason practice ..." You can't win with these people. Earlier in the year Eric Casilious(parden me if I butchered the spelling) was bashing us for not getting off of our feet for every out.

With out a doubt the best time I've ever had at a sporting event.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) NO. 3 games this weekend in Cleveland My bad.
-
QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) I would like to see him start all 3 games. We need a LH power threat off the bench, and he's all we got. I don't understand some peoples ifatuation with Gload. He's not a power hitter and he hasn't started all season. Now he is going to start three games in the playoffs.

QUOTE(S720 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) If we go back to our fundamentals - pitching, defense and small ball - in the playoff, we will advance to the second round. I don't know how, but I am having a very good vibe right now. Our White Sox might bring home the ultimate trophy this year! Your scratching me just where I itch.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) i will be on it like Michael Jackson is on little boys. I already have some good ideas.

QUOTE(Wanne @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) With the thinking being what?...he'll see some good pitches?!? He's had good pitches to hit and hasn't done crap with them. If...and it's a remote "if" if the Sox blow this....I'll still point to his two ABs in critical situations with RISP that he didn't come through and cost the Sox 2 wins this past week. Let's be honest...at this point the way everybody's swinging the bat...does it make much difference who bats 3rd anymore...it's almost a futile effort. The thought being when he gets hot he hits like a #3 hitter and can carry a team. When he's not hot, he's still as good an option as anyone. I was just as furious at those two at bats as anyone, but I think it happens to most of our hitters more than it does to JD. Rowand and Everett in the spot have been useless. I do agree that we don't have a great option. It's a major hole.
-
QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) The problem is that outside of the two guys that are already there, no one on our team is well suited for the #2 hole, and we don't have any #3 hole type hitters either. This means that our options are basically to hit Rowand #3, which doesn't really work, hit AJ #3, which doesn't really work, hit Dye #3, which we haven't tried and might work, or move Iguchi down to 3, which could conceivably work. I think the real answer is Dye, but I wouldn't complain if we tried it for a few games next year (a little late to tinker with the order this year, especially when the games mean so much). Hopefully we'll make a move or two to help the issue a bit though. I've been a big advocate of moving Dye to third since Frank has been out. His second half numbers have been good. I'd like to see him hit with PK behind him.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) Yes, but his point was put it in the strike zone where we can at least have a chance to get an out. And if he homers, fine, then we are tied. If he doubles, fine, then he beat you. But at least attack the strike zone and give us a chance to beat them, instead of giving a free pass. You may very well be right. It was just phrased very poorly. I hate walks as much as the next, but I think Hawk and DJ harp on it a little too much, at times. IMHO
-
QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) Without hearing anything on this topic during the game, I would assume he meant it as he would rather give up a shot hit by throwing strikes as oppossed to walking someone. You can make a great play on a well hit ball. The walk has no defense. I think DJ actually said he would of rather gave up a shot off of the center feied wall. It made no sense to me at all. In fact, my girlfriend even said that was a rediculous statement.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) Doesn't ticketbastard cut off ticket sales on the day of the game early? Not usually until 5:00. I was just able to get on. Keep trying.

QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 11:54 PM) I was watching the ND-MSU game Saturday, and I have to say that I hate the way NCAA overtime is handled. I am an ND fan (beat you to the punch), but that isn't the problem. I just think that giving each team the ball from the 30yd line and seeing if they can score is not a good way to handle OT. I like that each team gets a chance (the NFL should adopt that rule), but think a regular kickoff is a better way. Both teams should be guaranteed a possession in OT. If the game is still tied after one possession for each team, the game should be sudden death. What do you think? I'm not a fan either. You are taking some major elements out of the game. OT is extremely exciting, but I didn't have a problem with ties in college. It made in game coaching decisions so much tougher.

AJ stepping on Boone=Hunter running over Burke

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 08:08 AM) I think he was getting out of the way. I don't think it was at all intentional by AJ, and he seemed to do the best he could to put very little weight on Boone's back while still not letting up on making home. I agree. Boone came up right after the inning and didn't seem to be pissed at AJ. Either way, I couldn't stop laughing. It was one of the few tension relieving moments of the game.
