Game Thread 5-11-2005 Sox .vs. Suckfish
shakes replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2005 Season in Review
This is starting to remind me of the last two games. -
I'm in. I love how available they are. I e-mailed asking for ticket donations for a fundraiser, and received two responses within a couple of hours. I don't think any proffesional organization is this fan-friendly. Let me know where to sign.

I'll be in the UD at the 5/20 game. I'll be there 6/26 in section 106. Regardless of what some say about Wrigley it will be a good time. Many of those features of an old ballpark are very similar to what the old Comiskey was like. And I loved that place.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ May 5, 2005 -> 07:30 AM) DJ and the Pope. I almost fell asleep at one point. Whoa, how about a little life guys. I couldn't take it. I turned the sound off. I have DirecTV and there's a delay, so unfortunately I don't have the option of the radio. DJ has no business doing play by play. He's as bad as I've ever heard. I guess I'll have to go to a bar where the sound is off until Hawk gets back...things could be worse.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 4, 2005 -> 02:20 PM) - Says the pitch got away when he threw it behind Rondell. If he was in Rondell's shoes he wouldn't of gotten that made, he didn't hit him. Says if you want to come to the mound he's gonna defend himself (not that he's guarantee he'll hurt you) and that Rondell didn't scare him. With the control he's had lately I doubt this.

Game Thread 5-4-05 Sox .vs. Kansas Shitty

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) Sox are on CSN Plus, which for most people is CLTV. Bulls are on CSN, and the Cubs are on CSN Plus 2, which is the Total Living Network, whatever the hell that is. Anybody know what channel that is on DirecTV? -

Wasn't this guy Prior's pitching coach? -
QUOTE(retro1983hat @ May 2, 2005 -> 06:58 AM) The Ego factor in the booth with Hawk and Stone would be unbearable. Besides I don't think that Stone particularly likes Hawk's Hawkimsms. Can of corn, hangwuffhim, etc... What exactly does hangwuffhim mean? I've never figured it out.

Congrats Ben!!!

I hadn't heard about his until now. I will definitely be taking advantage of this. Brooks is fantastic. I sent him an e-mail regarding fundraiser donations from the White Sox and received a response within hours. You would be hard pressed to find any professional sports organization that would do that. Let alone, the head of marketing.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 06:58 AM) Rain? s***...I'm going. Oh well, hopefully we'll get the game in. More drinking time for me. Who else is going tonight? I'll be there!!!!

Bradly (Talbott, TN): Can the White Sox continue their streak? I know MIN is still the defending AL Central Champ, but the Sox look like they finally have a good blend of players this year. Does it continue, or is April simply a mirage? Tim Kurkjian: (1:12 PM ET ) It's not a mirage, but they're not going 16-6 every month. The Twins are the team to beat in that division, but the White Sox have better starting pitching than people think. They've upgraded their speed and defense and if Frank Thomas comes back and is productive, their offense should be OK. Think Chicago will contend the entire season, but I think the Twins will win the division. From TK chat. At least they are changiing their tune a bit. Acknowledging we will contend.

The attendance is going to be better than expected according to the Sun-Times. It looks like ticket sales are going well so far this year. http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-stix29.html Mods, this may need it's own thread so we can quiet some of these attendance threads. That is quite a redundant statement. And yes, I am going to the game tonight.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 06:28 AM) I think we already saw how they would react to this. They gutted this game out, when they had a built in excuse to fold. Freddy Garcia went out and gave an excellent preformance. I really hope that in the Hunter BS, this does not get forgotten. Garcia put this team on his back, and almost singlehandedly won the game, dispite the odds. I am extremely proud of this team after today. I wish I could be there Friday to give them a standing O. I will be there Friday and I'll give them a standing O for you.

It hasn't been quite as bad as I thought. It certainly has been a strange couple of days.

QUOTE(TheDybber @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) you guys hear that Widge is using an outfielders glove at 3B? Hilarious. I'm interested to see a dp attempt.
-
Out 3b coach just got nailed. THis is getting out of control.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) wish I was in front of the Tv for this one. Crede at SS?....has he ever? Not at this level. Widger hasn't played third either. I hope Freddy has a lot of K's!!!!

It's good to see a positive thread around here. It can get annoying reading these posts there's so much negativity. That game was frustrating, but bound to happen. Today will be a good day to judge the character on this team. The Sox haven't had a loss yet where they just played bad all around. Let's hope we bounce back today. A 7-1 road trip would be great!!!!!
-
I'd agree that someone finally talked to him. The only press we've been getting is regarding Ozzie's recent comments. I think the Sox are looking for coverage on their best record in baseball.
-
Has anyone else been a little annoyed with the constant discussion of this new 42 game theory? Hawk says every team will automatically win 60 and lose 60 games. It's what you do with the other 42 games that matter. I guess it makes a little sense, but hearing them discuss which games fall into the wins, into the losses, and into these 42 is getting tiresome already. I've got a feeling we are going to be hearing about this all year.

I don't mean to turn this into a Cubs thread, but does anyone do their homework: 11 Chicago Cubs 14 Mark Prior (3-0, 0.95 ERA) looks as strong as ever. Now, if Kerry Wood can follow suit, they will really have something. The flubs moved up three spots after losing their "star" shortstop, one of their "aces" leaving with shoulder tendinitis, demoting their closer, and losing thier new closer.
-
Garland has been great this year, but I can't believe this even a debate. Prior has top three stuff in the league.

This is why this show sucks wothout Dibble. It's way too serious. The same topics every day. At least Dibble would say something stupid or have an opposing viewpoint. There is no more humor left on this show.
