  1. QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) I thought the same thing. Those offspeed pitches made Joe look worse than he did last yr. that's all Joe is likely to see though if he can't make the adjustments. And if he can't hit a breaking ball, the sox should be looking for someone to take his spot midseason I would like to see how Crede would respond to some competition or pressure. He has been given ample time to develop and has always been reassured he's the man at third. If he struggles for a couple of months, I think some pressure needs to be applied.
  2. Like every other ESPN analyst, this guy will contradict himself and change his opinion 15 times before the all star break.
  3. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Would like to say thanks for the pbp as well. It means a lot to those of us who are stuck at school or work and who can read but can not listen. SB I agree, Thanks Jim.
  4. QUOTE(Kogs35 @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 12:12 AM) Channel 609 Thanks.
  5. QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 09:33 AM) I still fail to see how anyone can say that Joan Cusack is attractive. I look at her and I see the Joker. I look at her and see an ugly man.
  6. QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) Instead of Helms, a guy like Bill Hall might be a better fit. He's played 68 games at SS, 68 at 2b, and 14 at 3b. I know he's a .264 hitter in the minors. But he has some pop, is versatile, and hits RH pitchers better than LHP. His defensive numbers aren't great. But he was the Brewers #2 prospect at one time, coming up as a SS. Here's his BA write up back in 2002: "no player in the organization moved up more than Hall did in 2001. Ranked as the club's #21 prospect a yr ago, he was named the Brewers' minor league player of the year. He showed the offensive capabilities to be something special at SS, though he found the going a lot tougher at AA Hunstville. Few SS's can hit like Hall. Not only did he hit for avg at high A , but he also showed previously untapped power. Hall also runs well and has great range in the field. He often gts cute on defense, resulting in needless errors. Hall had a combined 45 errors in 2001, a career high. He gets to balls other SS's don't, but he has to learn when to eat the ball and when to attempt a fabulous play. He also must work onplate discipline, as shown by his .279 OBP in AA. If Hall's defense catches up to his offense, look out. One member of the organization compares him to Miguel Tejada at this stage of their careers. Tejada's defense once was considered a possible roadblock to the majors as well" Sounds too much like Jose. :puke
  7. QUOTE(shakes @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) No I lied. He pitched a scoreless 4th. Gave up 1 hit.
  8. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) Has Shingo thrown? No
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) Yeah, that was a hard one to overlook, but still no faith!! I do like Cotts as a pitcher, but not as a situational pitcher at this point. In fact, I would almost rather see the Sox use Adkins as a bullpen pitcher and stretch out Cotts and put him in AAA to be the 6th starter I would like to see this, as well. I just don't think it's a possibility. We don't have enough lefties in the pen.
  10. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) Per ESPN News: Derrick Mason signs 5 yr deal with the Baltimore Ravens. Dexter Coakley signs 5 yr deal with the St. Louis Rams. Jeremiah Trotter visiting with the KC Chiefs. Moss trade to Oakland finalized today. More to come. Any financials on the Mason signing? I'm guessing it'll be simial to Muhammed.
  11. Farmer talking about looking for a backup SS. Possibly moving someone from the bullpen.
  12. QUOTE(quade36 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) I must be on delay over the internet I'm definitely delayed on the internet.
  13. QUOTE(mreye @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) What was she thinking? Moron! And why are they 35 schools in a single Conference? Holy cow! In Indiana we have about 8 in the conferences. Those conferences are split up. SICA Blue, Sica Gray, etc. There are usually six or seven schools per conference. I have friends who work in the districts and at schools that split off. The real reason was the other schools inabilitiy to feild teams at three levels. Freshman, JV, and Varsity. While many of the schools could provide a full lineup at the Varsity level, they could not at the lower levels. This obviously caused problems. There would then be different schedules for all three levels, causing extra buses to be deployed for three different locations. It's too bad some simple-minded moron has to make these schools look racist.
  14. Does anyone know what channel it will be on Direct TV?
  15. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 12:41 PM) Now what do I do with my Terrell jersey I got for $20 after the 2001 season? What you should have done with it 4 years ago. Burn it!!!!
  16. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) Here's a link to another perspective on Clarett. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft05/colu...tory?id=2001738 I can't really agree with too much of this viewpoint. He has had 2 years to get to his ideal weight. His time was worse than when he was fat and out of shape. He also showed his character to everyone by quitting on the remaining drills. He'll have to prove himself in training camp and it could be as a FA.
  17. QUOTE(slick03 @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) yea, i heard that too. That kind of pissed me off. It seems to me he was just trying to start a mini controversy, since the sox camp has been quiet this season so far. With Sammy gone and Frank not reporting they have nothing to talk about. I'm surprised they didn't harp on Crazy Carl's comments a little harder.
  18. Most guys will rent out a scoreboard message to get back at their friends. This is pretty creative and will be hard to top!!!
  19. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) IMO, these next two seasons are crucial to his reign. Several contracts signed last year/ this offseason expire following 06; at which point the success of "ozzieball" can be appropriately measured. Hopefully, the vision many sox fans (including myself) support will break our 4 year drought. I completely agree with this. Kenny has brought in his manager and has been given freedom to bring in some of his players. I think his job depends on these next two seasons. Not to completely discount what he's done the past several seasons, but this team has really been shaped by KW. As a Sox fan, I hope it works.
  20. Stefan Lefors- He's small, but I love this kids heart and leadership.
  21. The obvious choices are Williams and Clarret. They've had two years to prepare for this workout, so it better be good. A couple names I think it will help: Justin Tuck DE-ND - An immense physical talent who is a natural fit for a 3-4 scheme. May sneak into 1st round. Kyle Orton QB-Purdue - Has the arm strength teams covet. His type of deep ball potential has moved up lesser QB's in past drafts, i.e. Dave Ragone. Antrell Rolle CB-Miami - Great athlete, if he can increase his forty time, he can hop into the top 10. Just a few IMHO. On the reverse side, who will it hurt?
  22. The Godfather Returns by Mark Winegardner. Anyone into these movies would enjoy this easy read.
  23. I still refuse to read this moron. Whenever I use to, it would make me want to jump out of a window. :banghead
  24. I think the key is playing a full season. I know injuries contributed last year, but we need to keep it together after the all star break. We always seem to have that run, but are dead by late august.
