  1. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 13, 2008 -> 02:49 PM) Let's face it. BA playing so well this spring REALLY f'ed up their plans for this season. Maybe ina good way, maybe bad. But this is NOT what they planned. They clearly planed on their 4 OFs being Dye, Owens, Quentin, and Swisher. If BA is playing himself into a starting CF spot and Swish moves to LF/1B, then that's a good problem to have. Carlos Quentin is eventually going to be in RF, but he may have to platoon a bit with Thome or spend some time in Charlotte. Now there's a guy who can't catch a break.
  2. QUOTE(Reddy @ Mar 13, 2008 -> 12:19 PM) that's certainly far from OFFICIAL... Agreed. It's definitely not official, but I think we should all expect to see a fair amount of Jerry Owens this season. He'll be with the team.
  3. QUOTE(SnB @ Mar 13, 2008 -> 12:02 PM) agreed. We're lacking a true leadoff hitter, so go with the guy that will get on base the most. I'm also loving that it looks like BA is getting another shot. Also, it would mean more ABs for one of the best hitters on the team. I'm a fan of that.
  4. Aaron Poreda had 3Ks in 2IP in a B game against the Rockies yesterday. Ozzie had this to say about him.
  5. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Mar 7, 2008 -> 02:21 PM) I like thnat Jon Garland guy. I wish the Sox would try and trade for him B) I hear you might be able to land Garland for a guy like Matt Karchner. Seems like a bit much to give up.
  6. Konerko knocked in Owens in the 1st. Swisher, Dye, and Crede all K'd against Haren.
  7. I think we need to get Toby Hall more time at 1B this spring.
  8. QUOTE(KevinM @ Feb 29, 2008 -> 12:06 PM) What if we trade Fields, he's awesome, and Crede continues to suck like he has his whole career? We need more intelligent and insightful thoughts like this on SoxTalk.
  9. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 03:34 PM) Who doesn't have a chance at making this team's pitching staff Dewon (I get worse and worse each) Day
  10. How fitting that he'll pitch for Charlotte.
  11. Andrew Baggarly, of the Mercury News, thinks Crede will go to SF and a player like Fred Lewis would get the trade done. Lewis is out of options but apparently has drawn interest from other teams this off-season. I've heard the name, but don't know much about the guy. Link
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 08:26 PM) 9.) Ana Devlantes - The 10 oclock news would be perfect if she and Ginger were on it by themselves dressed like twins wrestling in oil. Back when I was interning at a certain trading firm in the city, Ana Devlantes came into the office wearing a White Sox hat. That put her over the top in my book. Sweet girl too.
  13. I love my Treo. I've had the 700P for a couple years and it's awesome. It's got a full QWERTY keypad and touchscreen. These are two features I would need on my next phone (whenever I decide it's time to upgrade). I have Sprint service, which has really come a long way over the years. The service is great: clear calls, fast internet browsing, etc. but if something happens to go wrong, the customer service with Sprint is about as bad as you'll find anywhere.
  14. QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 09:10 AM) as much as everyone doesn't like him.........he is white sox baseball to me. I can't imagine watching a game and not having hawk talk about catfish hunter. Four more years of Yaz man love. Hawk is a homer, but he I don't mind him. He is White Sox baseball.
  15. If our veterans play to their potential and our young guys progress, I really don't see why we should be contenders. A lot is riding on Danks, Count and Floyd but we have no reason to believe even one of them will be worse than last season. I'm A LOT happier with the line-up and bullpen coming into '08 than I was at this point last year. As always, the huge X-factor is health. We have depth in a few areas (OF and INF) but if a pitcher goes down, I think we're in trouble.
  16. Tiger Woods and it's not close. He makes golf interesting. I never watched it before he came along and I'm sure the same can be said for many, many others. The guy transcended a sport! By the way, he'll earn more money, he'll be healthier, and he'll play the game he loves much longer than will Brady.
  17. QUOTE(scenario @ Feb 1, 2008 -> 12:51 PM) Anybody with ESPN Insider access to see what he said about Swisher?
  18. This was in Keith Law's chat on ESPN in reference to his list of top 100 prospects.
  19. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jan 31, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) Not that I am disappointed in this, but since when has Stone become a "consultant" to Jerry Reinsdorf as opposed to a part-time broadcaster? I'm not sure when that happened, but if Steve Stone is talking, I'm listening. The guy knows his stuff.
  20. Holding onto a player who can provide gold glove caliber defense and give you more than respectable offensive numbers instead of selling low on him isn't the worst idea in the world. I really wish there was room for both Josh and Joe, but selling low on Crede doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I think his value on the '08 team is potentially much greater than a couple of average prospects he'd likely yield via trade.
  21. I think most of us could stomach a Fields trade if he can yield a young pitcher with star potential; as long as Crede is healthy and willing to negotiate a reasonable contract. Boras seems to have rubbed some clients the wrong way so I wouldn't rule it out.
  22. I like the 9.3Ks per 9IP and the 1.9BBs per 9IP. That's encouraging even if it's just rookie ball.
