  1. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 10:00 AM)
    When I saw him in May he was doing really well and I thought he was back to being a prospect, he still makes solid contact but some of his swings almost look like check swings, he's still young but I think with Instructs in the Fall and some work with Sasser or maybe even Thome one day, he can go back to being a very very solid contact hitter. What was his injury? I don't even remember

    It was a dislocated ankle. Sounds like it almost cost him his career.

    Thomore Injury

  2. Great info, Jon. Thanks for the insight. What did you think of Thomore at the plate? He was an intriguing prospect before his injury, but it seems like he's just not hitting enough.

  3. Adolfo hit another HR (3).

    Jace Fry pitched: 1IP, 0H, 1BB, 2K.

    Ravelo is becoming one of my favorite prospects. He's a hitter. He was 1-2, 2BB tonight. .406 OBP and a .881 OPS on the year.

  4. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:31 PM)
    Rodon is now a member of the Sox organization, has huge upside and that's all that matters to me at this point. Nothing much left to say til Rodon makes his pro debut. Go Sox!

    Do we know when this is going to be?

  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 25, 2014 -> 01:05 PM)
    Let's not forget how well Sergio Santos has done since leaving the Sox.

    Not that we got a great trade return there, but at least we avoided paying him the early money we committed to him.

    Didn't the Sox essentially replace Sergio Santos with Matt Lindstrom - and for even more money?

  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 23, 2014 -> 10:43 AM)
    There is no doubt it would be. Would it be worth an extra $500k or million dollars to spread around the draft board?

    A kid who didn't sign with Toronto out of HS as a 2nd round pick would no doubt sign for $500K-$1mil under slot? I'm not so sure about that.

  7. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Dec 25, 2013 -> 08:52 AM)
    There are much better ways to spend that kind of money.

    The Sox are going to be spending some money in the draft and internationally, but I'm curious what would be considered much better than Tanaka in this environment.

  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 11:00 AM)
    People are actually offended by that? Yeesh.

    I think more people's lives are affected by Downs than you may realize. The joke was in really poor taste. Like I stated before, I can usually look past these kinds of things, but this one crossed the line for me. Whatever though, I'm done with the topic.

  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 09:09 PM)
    If the Cubs were in year 1 of a rebuilding process you could say that and have it make sense. They've been under .500 for 4 straight seasons and it's difficult to see them winning 70 games next year. That's why their rebuild looks bad.

    If the Cubs can eat far more money in bad contracts then it's crazy for them to lose for that long.

    If the goal is to build a .500 team as quickly as possible, then yes, they're failing miserably.

    Obviously they're being patient (aside from whatever that Edwin Jackson signing was) and waiting to see what they have in Baez, Almora, Bryant, Soler, Lake, Alcantera, Edwards, et al. I understand what they're trying to do, if others don't, so be it.

  10. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 07:29 PM)
    The great theo gave the YANKEES $18 million For soriano's 2014 season for a fourth round pitcher.

    I repeat: the FREAKING YANKEES got salary relief. Even though they were) and still are) desperate for offense.

    Not. A. Good. Rebuild. At. All.

    Rick ate $1 million for a Garcia in the rios deal. HUGE difference.

    You choose the one guy they essentially had to get rid of who was signed LONG before the current regime took over, and call their rebuild bad because of that? The Cubs can eat far more money in bad contracts than the Sox can, and it's a completely different situation and is being handled as such.

    I'm far more concerned about what the Twins and Tigers are doing, anyway.

  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 04:18 PM)
    The White Sox did in six months what the Cubs still haven't done in three years. He is doing a f***ing incredible job of rebuild.

    What is it the Sox have done that the Cubs haven't? I think Rick is doing a fine job and all, but I'm not sure what the Cubs have to do with anything. They're going about their rebuild differently, and in my opinion, it's going pretty well.

  12. After a sluggish start, Homeland has been outstanding and has some really compelling story lines leading into the close of the season. I was almost ready to give up on it after the first few episodes, but I'm glad I stuck with it.
