  1. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 02:17 PM) You know our leadoff situation is f***ed up when we're sounding happy about the idea of having Pods back. The way this leadoff situation went down still leaves me totally flabbergasted that we made no attempt to sign Orlando Hudson. Especially at what he ended up getting.
  2. Looks like he might be heading back to Milwaukee. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/04/rock...mel-gaudin.html
  3. QUOTE (wilmot825 @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 11:11 AM) Aaron Rowand....BEST EVER! He signed, took pictures, and had full conversations with me. Not a more cooler guy to have met in a White Sox uni. The legend continues!!
  4. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 08:13 PM) Micah Schnurstein gave me one of his $200 gloves, Gio Gonzalez is just about the nicest, friendliest guy ever & Fernando Hernandez is very down to earth. I am a reporter and the coolest/nicest guy i have ever met/interviewed was curtis granderson by a mile. even an hour after his game with the sox he sat there with me one-on-one and just shot the s*** for awhile. Other guys I have met, either through work or other that have been very nice include: Norm Van Leer Bob Love Craig Hodges (from my hometown) Jim Thome Fergie Jenkins Derrick Rose Antwan Randle El Frank Thomas Ben Gordon Tommie Harris Rex Grossman Alex Brown Paul Maynard Gale Sayers Biggest Jerk: Brian Urlahcer... hands down.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 11:54 AM) Every story I hear about Anderson makes him sound like a womanizer I saw him bombed out of his mind at Rocket in Chicago last year. Pure hilarity.
  6. Wait? If Jerry is gone, who are we going to b**** about now??? Wise, Fields, Colon seem like the leading candidates.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 10:44 AM) Nope. It was 2003 FWIW. We beat the Tigers in regulation time. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=230404104 Deangelo Jimenez led off that game????.. Good lord. Outside of 2005 have we had a good leadoff hitter in the last ten years.
  8. QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 03:59 PM) this team is going to be the worst fielding sox team that i can recall i think... just my personal opinion, but i think alexei is going to be a disaster at SS...he doesnt look fluid at all maybe he should be moved to cf...... too obvious/logical???
  9. QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) It's all based off how much action a certain bet is getting. People are betting more $ on the Sox to win the divsion and WS (as flyers) then on their over/under totals. yeah i get that, but it seems dumb to be on those and not bet on the over in the wins at the same time. no one is winning a division with less than 79 wins. this isnt the NL West.
  10. QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 12:24 PM) Anybody know what our over/under number is in Vegas? Edit: Here is what AL Central O/U odds look like on sportsbook Sox 78 Indians 85.5 Twins 83.5 Tigers 81.5 Royals 76.5 I was there last week and saw it at 79. The future bets made no sense to me. They have us at 79, but then we were the favorites (along with the Twins) to win the division at 4/1 and only 10/1 to win the World Series... huh????
  11. 88. Although I must say that this might be the most difficult sox team to gauge in years. Even worse that last years IMO.
  12. QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 11:10 AM) im surprised to see Carassco locked into a spot, but he was huge last year for us...i think MacDougal makes it personally, and i think broadway is the first one called up during the year if something happens or carassco or macdougal suck I agree completely. Hopefully MacDougal can figure it out again. If he can return to form, it would be huge for the Sox! Especially with Dotel looking a little shaky.
  13. I'll go optimistic. I say the Sox win 88 games and win the division. I agree it will be a tight division all year. I think the top four (excluding the royals) will all be within eight games or so of the division in the end, and the royals could be better too. Surprises: Konerko, Fields Disappointments: CF, CQ (will still be good, might struggle to match his numbers from last year, hope im dead wrong here though!)
  14. Im a BA fan and think he might have a solid year, but when do you think people will stop picking him for a breakout year?
  15. QUOTE (ObamaKnowsBest @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 03:12 PM) why not just join league four. We're sitting at seven members since there are only a few people in league 5, and league 4 needs people i deleted league 5 and signed up for league 4. if we end up having more people, we can create another league. Thanks.
  16. since we are cutting it close, this league is open to anyone so sign up.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 24, 2009 -> 04:50 PM) any league five info? who is gonna take the reins and start it up again? I need to know before I enter a yahoo public league. League 5 is set up. Check post below.
  18. Here is the sign up for Soxtalk League 5. Last year we had 12 teams. Its a head-to-head yahoo sports league and since I hadn't heard anything, I went ahead and set up a league. Sign up fast. The draft is a week from Wednesday. Once we have all the teams in, we can discuss the draft time and rules. Thanks! Go Sox! league id: 258477 password: whitesox
  19. Best option right now: Brian Anderson in CF, Getz leading off. Although I think a lot of people (including myself) wouldn't mind seeing Alexei in center, Getz leading off and Beckham at short in the near future.
  20. QUOTE (MO2005 @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 01:12 PM) Who is out there for us to grab? The incomparable juan pierre!!!
  21. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 09:06 AM) Replace Nix with Getz. I think that is pretty close. I would tend to agree, but i think ozzie and crew will do everything they can to justify owens being on the team. luckily, he is giving them nothing right now.
