  1. QUOTE(BFirebird @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 04:48 PM) I agree OPS HAS to be in there. I don't understand leagues without it. I have no preference as far as number of categories, but OPS is essential I think. Along with WHIP for pitchers. whats up everyone. good luck this year.
  2. i think the swisher deal is the best cause i have hopes he will be a monster at the cell. the worst deal was bringing uribe back. bar none.
  3. I am in! -have been playing for years. -head to head -was in league 6 last year. dont mind being in it again but would prefere a head to head league. -if you need more commishs ill help out.
  4. Hey sorry to do this but is there any updated news on crede to the giants. it seems like the thread has turned to upcoming free agents and i dont feel like reading through the whole thing. thanks in advance!
  5. i like your optimism, but this team as currently assembled has very little chance of competing with the tigers and indians.
  6. gotta love the turn this thread took! p.s. my roommate got up drunk as hell went into what he thought was the bathroom and proceeded to pee all over my other roommate and his girlfriend in bed.
  7. Navarro Marte Koch are my top three in recent memories. I also hate Chris Singleton- nice guy but hated him as a player and now as announcer! ugh.
  8. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 03:09 PM) Hm. I was thinking, and hoping, he'd come here. But if its 5 years and huge money, maybe its best this way. Kenny, I'm hoping you can pull off something for Hamilton or Ramirez in CF. Or something no one has thought of. And please for the love of Mary, do not trade for Pierre. agreed. no crisp either!
  9. With Rowand and Fukodome off the market, the Sox two possible free agent targets are gone. So the question is, where do the sox go from here? Make some trades and get the likes of coco crisp, etc. I think most wil agreee that will do little good. We can't blow up this team and trade away our veterans for young talent. Too many no-trade clauses, big contracts and decling talent to go that route. I know the signing of Fuko and/or Rowand probably would not have turned the Sox into a legitimate contender, but now where does KW turn? How the hell do we get out of this mess and be able to compete in a couple of years?
  10. and the offseason failure has gone full circle. not that i was desperate to get rowand, especially at the rate he was most certaintly going to go, but he was a target of the sox which means KW got no one he was after. Hopefully he can get creative with some trades or this could be the offseason that dooms the sox for years.
  11. I agree the Sox need to give this a serious look. He fills a hole for two reasons. Leadoff and 2b. I know a lot of people are high on Richar, but Roberts if a perfect fit for this team. Get it done!
  12. QUOTE(daa84 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 09:54 PM) theres no way crede is even worth that much....hes a guy who has 1 year left on his contract and isnt even guaranteed to start the year healthy...on top of that any team knows he wont be extended as boras will certainly test free agency...in addition the sox have no leverage because the quentin and ocabrera deals basically ensure that fields will be at 3b and we will just be desperate to dump credes 5 mil anywerhe.....ill be happy with a nick masset/ andy sisco type addition for crede That is why i think it would be dumb to trade crede right now. His value is at an all-time low. They might as well, start with him in the season and hope he gets hot. Then trade him for more or sign him. And not to sound to much like White Sox brass but with how last season and this offseason have gone down, it might not be the smartest move to trade a fan favorite like crede right now for some mid-level prospects.
  13. QUOTE(daa84 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 09:47 PM) lol i thought the same thing.... currently the brewers pay hart 0 to produce at a level beyond just about everyone on our team except for thome and konerko probably.... the brewers actually have 3 guys like that in braun fielder and hart....they pay a combined 1.5 million.....again, see why its a good thing to have a farm system? OK nevermind. I didnt know Hart had such a good contract. I will now shut up.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 09:44 PM) Wow, this might be the funniest post of the night (no offense) I'm not sure why it's funny. I don't want Hart but I know the Sox have actually shown interest in him before and he is not considered to have a high ceiling, especially compared to Hall. He had a nice year last year but he is nothing special if that is what you are getting at.
  15. Is Corey Hart still on the Brewers? If so, i could see him in this deal more than Hall P.S. Am i the only one against trading Crede. When healthy he one of the best players on this team and definitely the best fielder. I say let him play see if he is healthy and if he is, man up and deal with boras to keep him here .
  16. Ugh. I went from rejoicing to regurgitation while reading the thread.
  17. maybe they will replace it with a "can you swing harder than Juan Uribe?" Or a "Can you walk more batters than Mike MacDougal?" just a thought.
  18. I'll take Crisp, if we get Cabrera too! Then we would have a very nice lineup: Crisp: CF O-Cab: SS Cabrera: 3B/LF Konerko: 1B Thome: DH Dye: RF AJ: C Fields: LF/3B Richar: 2B Assuming we trade Fields Cabrera deal, just sub Crede into that spot. Hey, I can dream right?
  19. I took Anderson since he was a mad man in that Cubs brawl. Having said that my pick concerns me since it BA has shown in his White Sox career he has trouble hitting pretty much of anything! zing!
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 25, 2007 -> 07:37 PM) Over the past 3 years Andruw Jones has struck out once every 4.57 AB and Rowand over that same time period has struckout every 5.12 AB. Yeah, there's a HUGE difference. At least during that time Jones managed to hit a HR once every 14.6 ABs which is nearly twice as often as Rowand. (30.7) But what about walks you say? Jones has drawn one once every 7.98 ABs while Rowand has gotten a free pass only once every 16.44 ABs. If I have a choice between Andruw Jones and Aaron Rowand and the money is similar I take the hall of famer and superior player in Jones. That is the point though. I dont think he will be in in similar price range at all. I would rather take Rowand, save some money that we could spend elsewhere (if we plan on making other moves after that). Jones is a very good player but i just think we depend on the long ball too much as is. Jones would just add to that.
  21. Then when we sign Jones, a lot of you guys who are saying you want him the most will be complaining when Jones is jacking some HRs and striking out all the time like a lot of the batters currently on the Sox. I'lll take Rowand.
  22. QUOTE(G&T @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) Score just reported that th Dodgers may have offered Hunter a 6 year deal for over $100 million. Stress may have. Wow... If that is true, Hello Aaron Rowand!
  23. As long as there is more to come i think its a very good signing. Linebrink may not be great but he was one of the best RP out there, an you know we couldn't fix that bullpen just through young guys in our system. Keep it going Kenny! next up Torri!
  24. the sox got cabrera! the wrong one but hey, we cant be too greedy right?
