  1. Beckett & Lowell for Blalock & pitching prospect. http://www.palmbeachpost.com/marlins/conte...rlins_1119.html
  2. QUOTE(Nokona @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 06:55 PM) Conant will be in the St. Viator tournament starting Tuesday. Look for the Cougar Crazies out in full force. We should at least make a run for the MSL title this year. The Cougar Crazies have nothing on the "Crusader Crazies" of Brother Rice. I remember my freshmen there year and I've never been to a Brother Rice high school basketball game. I think we were playing Leo or St. Rita. The atmosphere was crazy. I still remember when we had to go to Thornwood for a sectional(when they had Eddy Curry), we somehow had as much if not more fans than they did. No one has the right to call themself "Crazies" in the state of Illinois except for Brother Rice. BTW, GO ST. IGNATIUS!!!! Neh, even though I ended up transferring there for my last two years, I could never muster up the emotion to cheer for them. Even when we beat Crane and made Florentino Valencia cry because we screwed up their undefeated season, I still could never get up for them. Though I like their coach who was my U.S. History teacher. Great guy.
  3. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) Actually, I'd say he has the best shot out of all of them. The guy is the face of the franchise, and from an outsiders perspective, when it comes to the White Sox, Ozzie is the story. Personally, I think they're all deserving. I agree.
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) I've only known Subway and nothing else. Sign I need to get out? For Shizzle!
  5. No way. He's bad in CF. Stick Anderson in CF.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) No Pot Belly's love so far? For Shame That's what I'm saying. Potbelly's is great. The Wreck is my favorite from there. Only thing is they need to make bigger subs. I also love Fontano's. They make the subs I'm too lazy to make at home and do a damn good job of it. Can't forget about Mr. Sub.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) I don't get why everyone's knocking the Eyre move. Just becuase the Cubs made a move, doesn't mean its a bad one. Scott Eyre was really good last year and if he pitches like he did this past season, he's definately a great pickup, even if they did pay a mill or year too much (and if he pitches like he did last year, 3 million a year is more than fair). 1)He's overpaid. 2)Up until last year, he was a mediocre reliever at best. 3)He's not a young prospect who finally got it. He's an older guy who had a lucky year. I say he has more of a year like Esteban Loaiza had his 2nd year here rather than a year like last year. I wouldn't knock the move if they didn't overpay so much. For that money, I would've just upped it a bit more to go after Ryan.
  8. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 10:05 PM) I'm not so sure now. This is straight from Cubs.com: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/new...t=.jsp&c_id=chc This could be the worst reliever contract in the history of the MLB. That's probably 2 years for 11 million and then a player option for a 3rd year at an undisclosed amount of cash.
  9. QUOTE(bkmoney @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) espn is reporting its 2/11.. option not yet finalized. and there is going to be a signing bonus thrown in too cubs using some of their money i guess.. That's overpaying for the guy. I'd say unless Furcal signs for cheaper, they'll be signing Alex Gonzalez of Florida.
  10. Damnit, the White Sox have s***ty insiders. Hopefully they bring in someone like Bob Nightengale.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 11:54 PM) the only thing is, I don't know if he's planning on stalking me or LC Shouldn't you be tracking down those kids and turning them into White Sox fans? What's wrong with you? Do you job!
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) If Pauly then signs with another team we have no leverage, it would be best to get a trade done for a 1b/dh as soon as possible. Precisely.
  13. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) Settle down there, young one. It ain't happening. Plug your X-Box in and trade for whoever you want to. It's really amazing. You can put anyone you want on the Sox. Go for it. Throw common sense to the wind. I don't own an Xbox. But you're right. Seems like an Xbox trade. Maybe KW and Gillick own an Xbox though because they seem to be talking trade.
  14. Any chance of Chicago being renamed DirecTV, Illinois?
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) I'm retarded. I thought I heard somewhere that Deng was gonna go in at SF and Noc was gonna start at PF. Actually you are right. The starting lineup has been changed up for tonight. C-Chandler PF-Nocioni SF-Deng SG-Hinrich PG-Duhon
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) That seemed like a pretty logical choice for a dh if any of these other moves couldn't take place, just revisit the deal that was going to happen last summer. I think Kenny wants a first baseman though just in case of Pauly, and if PK comes back then the other man can dh. Yeah, I would figure that would be the logic. Try to get a natural 1B/DH and if that doesn't work out, maybe they'll revisit the deal.
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) The only way you can entertain Pierre in CF is if you have a 3,4,5 of Dye, Thome, Konerko. That being said, we are an OF factory here. We have more OF prospects that we can seem to know what to do with. This is our position of strength. Rowand could be moved. But IMO it will be as a package deal with Marte for a left handed thumper to DH. Brian Anderson will step into he CF role and we will move on. I dont see why we would trade for an OF when we seem to have the patent on turning out great fielding OF prospects. I agree with that. I also think that we need more power and a 3,4,5 of Dye, Thome & Konerko would allow us to have a Pierre in CF, but there would be no point since we have OFers up the ass in our system.
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) Well, you have to admit, it feels a bit too Griffey. Griffey felt a bit too Griffey. Same with Chavez. Thome seems doable because Philly already has someone to fill his position, are willing to eat a big part of the contract and want to trade him. Speaking of Griff, I wonder if he's on the market now that the Reds have new ownership.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) Pierre has no place on this team. Offensive prodcution goes down, and defensive liabilities go up. Not only that but our payroll goes up essentially from adding Scott Podsednik part 2. Im glad that KW wouldnt think along these lines, because we would SUCK. I think everyone agrees as the current team is concocted, he has no place on the team. The argument on whether or not the guy is a bum like you and some others are making him out to be. It's not like the guy came back from 2 broken legs and is turning 43 in December. He had one bad year. Big whoop. It's a bad logic to think that someone is done after having one bad year. I'm glad K-Dub doesn't think along your lines, because in that case we would SUCK EVEN MORE!
  20. QUOTE(SouthSide2004 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 04:42 PM) Why is this? If the Phillies eat half of his contract then we are only paying just over 7 million a year. That's less than what Thomas made last year. Plus, Kenny has already said one of his top priorities is to add a left-handed bat. This move would kill two birds with one stone. Cas some people on this board aren't smart enough to realize that and just think a move would be "too big" for the White Sox. And I'm seen as a pessimist around here, ha.
  21. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) He was one of the biggest disappointments in all of baseball last year. Check out that on-base percentage. You want that, coupled with bad defensive play, as a member of your 2006 outfield? You can have it. Yeah, because 1 year makes a career. I guess the Sox should look back into acquiring Esteban Loaiza since he had a great 1 year.
  22. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) Juan isn't trash at all, he's been a very good leadoff hitter for all of his career. That being said there really is no room for him on this team. My thoughts exactly. I wonder what the perception of Scott Podsednik was on this board a year ago.
  23. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 12:24 PM) Mine was quick and (oh so Cliche') was on Valentines Day. I worked at a Flower Shoppe, and my co-worker also made jewelry as a side hobby. I ordered all of the pieces to the ring(stone, clasp, ring) and he put it together for me for about 1/4 of the cost of getting one at a store. He finished putting the ring together about 4 hours before I was set to propose. Anyhow, i got off of work, and got one of her favorite flowers( a yellow rose, she doesnt like red roses) and tied the ring to the bottom of it with a long strand of ribbon, and shoved the ring up my sleeve. I went home and she was getting ready to go to work, and I walked up to her and said "Happy Valentines day" and gave her the rose, she smiled and took it from me and the ring pulled out of my sleeve and just hung there for a while. She looked at it and said "what is that?", I dropped to my knee and proposed, in the bathroom of our s***ty rental house. Sure, it wasnt the eiffel tower in Paris, or at any of the various beautiful state parks in Southern Illinois, or even the first place we met(the pizza resteraunt we both worked at), but the sheer surprise on her face was worth it. She honestly had no idea what I was up to. And she was even happier with her ring, which was a large chip of her birthstone(Yellow Topaz) set next to a row of inset diamonds. Originality always hits big with spouses, unless they are uber-superficial. So she kept the ring and said no? Man, that sucks.
  24. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 10:34 AM) I will actually say that I think you are wrong. I saw a picture in my GIRLFRIENDS mag a while back and it was Leinhart with kristin from LB at a benefit. I think they did date. I'm inclined to say he's right. They did not date. Do they know each other? Yes. That's a whole different thing than dating, however. That picture is how the rumor was started, but unless they dated for a week, it didn't happen.
  25. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) Unless things change big time, (Which they could, we did just win the World Series) I dont see the Sox being stuck with these huge contracts. The one thing the Sox have never had to worry about in the offseason is trying to find someone to take on a huge contract we are trying to unload. While that also means we dont dish out the $$$, it can also be a blessing. Like most have said, unless the Marlins pay a good amount of Delgados contract, I dont see the Sox paying a 36-37 year old 18 mil. Just not there ways. 16 Mil. Those 2 million a year make a big difference.
