I think it's time to put up the Crede banner up there and leave it up for good. We must drain it of it's resources. Before, all of us fans were thinking, there would be nothing worse than being one and done in the playoffs. Now we found something worse. The power of Crede is summoned upon by us fans as if we were Power Rangers calling upon our megazords. Mods, make it happen and let's use up all of the Crede banner power. Put them at the top and bottom of the page. Tried to flip them so you could put them on the sides too. Oh Crede banner, us Sox fans calleth upon thy.

Back to the 1940s - Sox vs Twinkies 9-17

I'm guessing by the reaction in this thread that we lost. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) Buehrle can shut teams down just as well as Santana did today (albiet, with fewer strikeouts.) He just hasn't done it lately at all. I don't think so. Buehrle always gives up hits and his K numbers are low. Buehrle is a strong benefactor of the players around him. Santana is a guy who could go and get k's for half the outs if need be. Buehrle is not in the same ballpark as Santana.

QUOTE(farmteam @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 08:15 AM) Anyone know WHY it's only on radio today? Basically Fox has the rights to any Saturday Morning games. Usually this game would be picked up by Fox, but their games don't start until 12. The reason for the game starting at 11 is because the Minny Gophers play later tonight and they have to get the game in and the field ready for that game. Therefore no tv. -

If Duque wins this, you could pretty much put him in a lock to start in the playoffs, even if it means Ozzie goes with a 5 man rotation. Why? Because Ozzie is someone who would do something like that. -
Oh nice, we're going to attack people for their musical taste. *rolls eyes*

Game Thread -- Friday, September 16th
nitetrain8601 replied to CWSGuy406's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Well he went with the pitch and did nothing. Crede continues to dominate however. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) Can you name any players who you'd expect would be signing with the D-Rays? Not with the way they're doing business. They'll never build up a nice fanbase if they don't do business the right way.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) Of course not...did you not look at Pods stats in September? He is doing great. If the Everetts, and Dyes, and AJs turned it up, we might have something. And Ozzie, quit taking TAGUCHI out of the lineup. Pods' job is not only to get on base, but to get steals and score runs. He hasn't done that. Right now, he's the crappiest .300 hitter(for the month of sept) in baseball. Getting on base for him just means he's prolonging the out. Don't make a difference if you get on base and they make an out opposed to making an out at the plate.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) I thought that was the Griffey line. Nope, it's Hawk's.

I Know Exactly What Ozzie Needs To Do

Do it Ozzie. DO IT!!!!! -
you may remember this article from a couple of months ago...

I don't blame him. They keep holding him down. The guy is supposed to be the next Manny or Vlad. He'd help the White Sox right away. We know Chuck Lamarr would probably ask for the farm for him.

Everett and Crede make this team weaker
nitetrain8601 replied to whitesoxgt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Um, Crede has actually been pretty decent since he's come back. And he provides a nice glove. Everett looks lost. Aaron Rowand has digressed offensively. Last but not least, welcome to soxtalk. -
QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) To answer the question, I think the lead will be 3.5 games come Monday. 2.5 simply because I said CLE will pass us up on Wednesday.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) I didn't say we would be competitive if we did this. It's called rebuilding for a reason. I like your general plan. Blow it all up.

ERIC CHAVEZ TALK AGAIN?? DOES IT EVER END??
-
Damnit, only if we could get him. He'll probably be dealt to Boston since I don't think Boston is going to resign Damon or maybe even the Yankees who are feenin' for a CF.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) Many guys have put much harder innings on their arms for much longer periods of time, and still been fine. Roger Clemens is still doing it at 15 years older than Buehrle. And keep in mind a speed difference that you get from a tired arm isn't going to affect a guy like Mark Buehrle nearly as much as a guy who has a big fastball. Buehrle is all about placement and deception. Everyone in the world knows that his pitches aren't that great on their own. Its not like Bobby Jenks who can tell you his fastball is coming and you would still miss it. If you know Buehrle is throwing a fastball, it is pedestrian at best. The thing that makes Buehrle hard to hit is not knowing whether you are getting a 90 mph fastball, or a 76 mph change up out of the same motion and release point. It is the speed differential that gets you, not the speed itself. If he had a dead arm, the speed on his fastball would be down into the mid 80s and its not. Isn't it fair to say that if you have a tired arm or injury that it messes up your mechanics?

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Santana vs El Duque. LOL You dont need to throw darts at the dartboard to figure out who is going to win this. I surely hope he isn't putting his money on El Duque.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) If the team misses the playoffs, here would be my plans after the season and I am not joking. Some might refer to this as the Cleveland model for rebuilding. Trade Jose Contreras and Orlando Hernandez for prospects Let Paul Konerko, Frank Thomas and Carl Everett go via free agency Trade Damaso Marte or release him Resign Jon Garland to a long term deal Resign AJ Pierzynski Trade Jermaine Dye for prospects, put Brian Anderson full-time in RF Find a decent third baseman I wouldn't trade Jose. He's actually turned it on since the AS break with his new armslot. I could deal with that if you somehow have a plan to trade for 3 power hitters because the best power hitter on the market this year is PK. Damaso has lost trade value because of what Ozzie said. Looks like a release for him. I agree on Garland. Trade Jermaine Dye for prospects and trade Brian Anderson as well. I don't think Anderson will turn into anything more than an Aaron Rowand. While Rowand has nice defense, his power numbers have gone really south. Unless we're playing Moneyball, I'd trade Anderson too and get some power in the lineup. It's going to cost you more prospects for a 3B. I mean Mueller is the only option on the market this year IIRC. He doesn't have Crede's glove and Buehrle and Garland won't look as good without his defense. Chavez or bust is what we're looking at there.

QUOTE(alexgtp @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) Gee nice too see you are so optimistic. Can santana be beat ..YES!! he has lost 7 times this year.So i dont see why he cant lose his 8th to us.!~! Have some faith.. I am hoping for a minny sweep! I doubt it. Garcia gave up like 1 hit last time against Santana and still ended up losing.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) Actually it was your posts about his historical innings pitched that finished convincing me it was mechanical. If this were his first year of throwing a bunch of innings that would be one thing. He is way over 900 innings in the last 4 full years, so he is used to the work. Plus Mark was getting hit way to hard to be just having a bad outing. The Royals knew what was coming, that was obvious to me. Maybe pitching all those innings finally got to him. He has pitched the most innings since 2001, remember that. Guys can't consistantly pitch as many innings as he has for years without getting some type of injury or tired arm. This may be the year that he has it. Who knows?
