QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 12:27 PM) This is a great idea, however would be thinking outside of the box for Ozzie. McCarthy and Conteras are guys I feel confident to pitch against good teams. Word son. I agree. I'd like to see McCarthy and Contreras against the Tribe. Buehrle won't do s*** against them and Garland has nothing more than a decent chance. If Freddy pitches good, we won't hit. If Freddy pitches bad, we won't get a single hit.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 07:30 PM) Cleveland will not be in first place this season. It may get closer, but they will not overtake the Sox. You willing to make a wager?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) Trouble is, Mark had plenty of chances this 2nd half to completely shut up that talk forever, and because his 2nd half has been so weak, he's totally failed to do so. Yep. And I love Buehrle. I like the way he speaks his mind and I like the way he interacts with fans.

WTF is wrong with you guys?! They play better when no one shows up. Ban yourselves from the Cell. It's our only chance.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) Ain't gonna happen. The Sox are going to have a great series in Minny and come home Monday on a high note. We owe them a sweep. Cleveland's going to take the lowly Royals for granted and lose 2 of 3. And then we're going to procede to beat the everlovings*** out of Cleveland and reassert our dominance in the division and in the league. You think I'm full of s***, but take a look at how well the Sox are swinging the bats. Crede's hitting, Uribe's hitting, even Carl seems to be coming around. Dye's hitting, Pods is hitting and Iguchi is f'n clutch. We all know what Pauly's doing but because he can't handle pressure he'll be dropped back to clean up this weekend. Even AJ has shown some life at the plate. The pitching has stumbled but will be picked up by the hitting. Garland might win his game. Duque has no chance against Santana. Whoever faces Liriano(either Garland or Garcia/BMac) will probably lose no matter how good they pitch since we suck against pitchers we haven't seen. I say s*** hits the fan Wednesday.

Jay-Z is richer than us, yes, but he's doesn't have the money to run a franchise. He's only worth 300 million. I know it seems like I'm trying to downplay 300 million, but all owners in the NBA are worth tons more. Jay-Z owns a very small percentage of the team and is really a figurehead for the Nets. They're trying to appeal to the hip-hop audience with him.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) No s***, Gooch was the most impressive hitter yesterday, so we sit him??? Makes no sense at all, Now we have a must win situation against the team in our division that we have the worst record against As if Willie did bad today? Pods would've scored in the first inning if not for his poor attempt at stealing. -
How about a Vida Guerra banner?
-
Pods has to be injured. Like I told Nuke last night, ever since he came back from the DL, he runs like he has something up his ass. Not only when running on the bases, but when he runs down a ball. He runs really tender. I like Buehrle's quote. It's damn true. About goddamn time this team doesn't use, "we're still first in the division [insert garbage here]"
-
Ozzie won't get fired. His in game decisions suck ass and IMO he deserves to at least get demoted to bench coach(because he does bring motivation). As I said before, at least Dusty has proven to me that he could take talent far. Ozzie hasn't. The way he manages pitching sucks more than the way Dusty does considering Dusty's pitching usually doesn't wear out until the playoffs. We aren't even there yet. Also, Dusty will start his opening day lineup more than twice in the season.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) If he says he's healthy and he's not, what's the difference between that and Marte other than Freddy drinks beers with Ozzie? Its time to step up, not look for reasons to bail. If he's hurt its not that bad right now. His concentration is lacking however. The curious thing to me is Ozzie said he talked to him, but now needs Cooper to talk to him. Either Ozzie doesn't trust what Freddy told him or he didn't answer his questions. How is bailing if he legitimately is injured? This guy had the same problem last year. My fear is that most of the rotations arms are about to fall off. Maybe that's a reason Buehrle has tailed off badly. Maybe he needs rest. Marte and Garcia are way different situations.
-
Things Buehrle is not: Ace Stopper Things that Buehrle is: A guy who could win in low pressure situations A guy who feasts on weak teams Still a nice #3 pitcher on this staff
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) Ozzie says he trusts his players. He said he talked to Garcia and is going to have Cooper talk to Garcia. If he talked to him and said he was hurt or tired, why would Cooper have to talk to him? Seems goofy to me. Freddy is supposed to be a big game pitcher, and now he may be opting out of a start at the most critical part of this season? Maybe there's room on Marte's plane for him. I think this team is in freefall, even Ozzie's buddies are starting to bail. So you rather have Freddy keep saying he's healthy and get shalacked instead of saying the truth? Rest him and hope you make the playoffs.

Willie Harris dominates on offense as always and PK can't drive him in as always. -

So when does Willie finally replace Iguchi permanantly in the lineup?? -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) In fact, to lighten up the mood here, I think were gonna start putting up some more light hearted banners. This first one is a masterpiece made by Greasy. TIMO 4 MVP. He better play everyday.
-
Maybe when they show the White Soxon ESPN at home, we'll have a packed house.
-
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) I'm sorry guys, I didn't know my mood was affecting the entire board. Just do like I do, bury your head in the sand until October 2nd and be proud we backed into the playoffs :-). Assuming we made it there. Honestly, I was going to buy playoff tickets today at noon. That plan is no longer in action. I think it'll jinx the team even more(if possible). Some people don't believe in jinxes, but after observations of things that are said on this board correlating with what goes on the field, I'm weary.

Frank as a bench coach? Maybe. Frank as a hitting coach? Maybe. Frank as an enforcer? Hell yes.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Guess he will be buying inflated ones off ebay. My pick for the game one start is looking better every day IMO. Last night, 6th inning, 2k's back to back, man that was a different pitcher. Fastball, fastball, fastball, curve, fastball, fork Damn right. I don't know how you start Buehrle who's been sucked in big games or against good teams. Contreras looks the best and if he continues, he should start Game 1. -

Yeah, he had a revival this year. Hopefully his family member recovers soon. -

I don't see BMac replacing anyone unless there's an injury. That's the only way he's getting on. Or if Damaso flat out says, "F you, you piece of Venezuelan chit"
