  1. I liked the original with the baby blue you used.
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) BS. He just happens to have a bad game or he struggles whenever he's up against a playoff-caliber team. There's no way that Mark Buehrle is an ace. Aces beat the best teams, Mark Buehrle doesn't. I'm sure he'll win his next few starts against the Royals, Tigers, _____ garbage team, and then everyone will be happy and say, "See, that's our ace!" Then, he'll get destroyed by a good team in the playoffs...and he was just struggling at the time. My thoughts exactly.
  3. I didn't know he was coming back today. Greatness is back at 3rd.
  4. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 09:26 AM) Mark Buehrle has balls guys. I'm not concerned about him AT ALL. However I would like to see Brandon McCarthy make some starts for Buehrle before the end of the year. It would be a great idea to get our 4 guys a rest before going into the post-season. PS What is everyone's take on Contreras pitching in October? I'd like to see him do it if he continues what he's doing now. Honestly, when he's on, I think he's our best pitcher. He has filthy stuff. He could shut down everyone when he's on. The Yankees, Red Sox, anyone.
  5. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 08:12 AM) If you look at the numbers, Contreras and Garcia are now have almost identical seasons. Contreras had a few tough luck no decisions, and was left in a little long and gave up some meaningless runs in other starts, or his stats and recent hot streak would make him a serious candidate to open the playoffs. I think Buerhle will pitch better in his next few starts, but if not, you can't have him your #1 starter in the playoffs. I agree. Last night's performance(man, now I know how the green seats are going to look like) just continues to prove my theory right(that I was bashed for) that Buehrle just can't play well against good teams and he can't win in big games. Honestly, when Contreras is on, I think he has a better chance than Buehrle. Same goes with Garland and Freddy. Buehrle is a guy who just really feasts on mediocre teams. Not a stopper which an ace usually is. Like I've been saying, "Buehrle is not an ace." For the other guys I mentioned, they don't lose just because they're facing a good team. When they lose, it's because they just lose.
  6. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Where did I say it'd be close to 3 million? Point that out to me. It's going to be awfully hard to find, because I didn't. I just expect attendance to keep climbing. You're expecting huge jumps overnight; it doesn't happen like that. Well then what? 2.5 million. Honestly, I think those numbers are a failure for the best team in baseball(as so many of you guys refer to it) and I think those numbers are a failure for a WS winning team, especially in the 3rd largest market. I know it's not popular opinion, but it's the truth. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) the sox are never going to be the cubs, get over it people. We're going to average right around 30k this season and that's fine with me. We're not one of the top tier baseball organizations in the league, why do people expect that? Yes, we're in the 3rd biggest city int he world, but we also split the city with another team that like it or not, is more popular. nitetrain never fails to make ridiculous statements, hello ignore button. That whole Cubs BS has gotten out of hand. Again, if they can't reach the numbers the Cubs reach(even after they've proven they can back in the day) then it is time to move. This is a winning team and they deserve better numbers than they got in this series. I don't care if they were playing the Royals. It's the stretch run. Bandwagon fans(described here) are fans who go to games when a club is winning and rooting for that club. Looks like we can't even bandwagon right because we don't have anyone going to the games in Sept for I repeat the 30th consecutive time, "best team in baseball." Obviously, some of our baseball players feel that way too. Anyways have fun hitting the ignore button. I guess you can't stand opposing viewpoints.
  7. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) Attendance has improved immensely. It all comes down to season ticket holders, honestly. Attendance isn't going to increase by a million over night or in one year, expecting it to is simply ignorant. So you're saying next year attendace will be near 3 million(give or take 100,000)? I highly doubt that. I think even if the White Sox were to win 2 world series in a row, they wouldn't reach 3 million.
  8. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) :rolly :rolly :rolly :rolly :rolly :rolly :rolly :rolly I guess the Brewers, Tigers, A's, Twins, D-Backs, Reds, Blue Jays, Rockies, Indians, Pirates, Marlins, Royals and Devil Rays should ALL move too, since they all have worse attendance records than the Sox. GMAFB. All those towns have proven(well minus TB, FLA, & MIN) that if they win, they'll get really really nice crowds. Better than ours, that's for sure. It's a sad day when you're cheering that we broke 2 million. Best teams in baseball usually hit 3 million. Cubs do and I think they even have a smaller stadium than us. It's just something to consider for them. If White Sox fans in the City of Chicago can't afford the games, it's time to look elsewhere. I know that's not the popular opinion, but I rather watch my favorite team succeed(on the field and off) then watch a sea of blue.
  9. If that's the case, maybe the Sox should be thinking about moving.
  10. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 10:16 PM) I was thinking the same thing. I tell you what, I was going to bust my ass to get there tonight, but this whole thing turned me off. Go ahead shower me with criticism. I'll be there tomorrow night, but this attitude has me thinking twice about these ballplayers and lack of appreciation for Sox fans--the best baseball fans on the f-ing planet!! I don't know. I tend to agree with Sox players on this one. People say, "well there's work and all this other stuff." Yeah, but I don't see any other team in the league making excuses. I certainly don't see the Cubs, or the Angels or any other team that's playing well making excuses. I say it's time to stop making excuses here. If you aren't going, just say "I'm not showing up, period." With the lack of support for this team(best in the league as I hear so much around here), the attendance for this series certainly didn't show it. Our players need to learn how to play in front of big crowds and they certainly aren't getting the experience here at home.
  11. It was reported as false by a higher up in the Boston organization I believe. It's on RealGm.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) His change is good because of his fastball. His Curve is a + pitch, which means it doesn't necessarily rely on the fastball to be an affective pitch. Ahh, So that's why it got hung over the green monster by Tony Graffinino.

    Back to school

QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) ...calculus is dumb and stupid and i hate it. explain to me why i need to take this for a business major? I thought you only had to take Business Calculus. At least at UIC, that's all you gotta take when it comes to Calc for Business Majors. That isn't bad at all. I've known people who've passed that without a problem.
  14. QUOTE(kman @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 07:32 PM) laparka nice, im surprised any1 knew him on here. Heck yeah. WCW had the best cruiserweight division ever with him and Pyschosis and Juvi and Rey, etc. BTW, Congrats to AJ. Now his little girl could see him help his team win the WS.
  15. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) Searching through our archives, I found one thread which discussed receiving 2003 playoff tickets the 19th of September. I have to believe, if history is any indication, we'll find out within the week. For your other questions, I've never known of anyone who's camped outside the park for White Sox tickets. Honestly, I wouldn't mind doing it myself if the weather was reasonable and no exams were scheduled the following day. If I recall correctly, tickets went on sale two years ago during a weekday--tuesday or wednesday I'd guess. Good thing about going to UIC is if I'd ever consider camping out I'd only have to travel 10 minutes to school. You & me both man. GO FLAMES!!
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) You can't rank a draft after half a season. Okay, 2 consecutive #1 picks have stuggled IMHO. Fields and Broadway.
  17. I think he should get another shot with another team. He seemed competent in his job, but was dealt a bad job. Instead of folding and being a benchcoach until another offer popped up, he decided to take that job. He never was given a team in which you could say was going to compete for even half the year.
  18. QUOTE(OilCan @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 09:25 AM) Brent Barry, Manu Ginobili and Michael Finley can spell Bruce Bowen at the 3. Talk about flexibility. Don't forget to add Devin Brown, a San Antonio/UTSA native, to the mix as well. Brown is a RFA that would look DAMN good in a Bulls uniform, IMO. Scoring, defense and size (6'5"). Maybe Eddie Basden will be a Devin Brown clone. If that's the case, WOW. And...the Spurs drafted Romain Sato from Xavier last year that spent the whole year on IR for an "injury". 8 guards. Definitely bet that one or two will be traded. Having a Devin Brown-Ben Gordon battle at the 2 would be very interesting. Devin Brown signed an offer sheet with Utah. I don't think the Spurs were going to match, last time I checked. I forgot about Bruce Bowen though as well. There's going to be a logjam.
  19. QUOTE(OilCan @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 09:27 AM) But wait....is that Central Time??? Seriously, I bet the Hornets will be playing in either OKC, Baton Rouge or KC. The Saints will be playing in SA. Can you imagine trying to redo the Saints' calendar after LSU Tiger games? Can you imagine what that field would be like? Sho' is CT. Anyway, LSU wouldn't have to reschedule their games. NFL plays on Sundays. Most college games are on Saturdays.
  20. Well I think Bill Melton mentioned that Uribe had recently added a little leg kick to get his timing down so he doesn't swing out of control. I think it's working so far. I'll have to watch for it next time he plays.
  21. QUOTE(daa84 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) AJ did not travel with the team for this game. his wife is expecting a baby today i believe Oh, I thought he simply wasn't playing. Win the game anyway.
