Make a GOOD deal, Kenny, or don't make one at all

QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) A lot of the deals mentioned in the rumor mills scare me more than excite me. Danys Baez? Please NO. At any price. AJ Burnett as a 2-month rental for BMac and Marte? Marginal. Aubrey Huff? Ok, depending on price. ********* The best deal would still be Schmidt/Vizquel for Contreras, Uribe, and Anderson. AJ Burnett would be okay if he'd sign a 3-year contract. Billy Wagner would be a big plus, but he's also a likely rental, so I wouldn't overpay. BE CAREFUL KENNY. DON'T MAKE A SPLASH JUST TO PROVE YOU ARE WORKING. Make the RIGHT DEAL(s) or don't make one at all. I agree on Baez. I agree on Burnett. I agree on Huff. As far as that SF deal. No reason for SF to do it. Vizquel to Uribe is a definate downgrade. Schmidt to Contreras is a downgrade, Bmac barely makes up for one of those players being downgrades. So far everything I've heard, the Giants are going to have to be wowed by an offer if a team wants to trade for Schmidt. 2 SP at the very least. Plus the whole reason to make the move is to have insurance of a 6th SP. That deal wouldn't make sense for the White Sox either. I know my dreams of Griffey Jr. are just that, but these dreams that the Giants are just going to give us their 2 best players for marginal ones(and I love Contreras) is a pipedream. -
It was on Sportscenter. Jayson Stark was doing a thing on who he thinks what each team in contention should target. No way in hell are we giving up Politte or Cotts. Obviously, they don't do their homework.

Hmm, put me on this as long as it's not a cheap bat. Griffey, Overbay, Soriano I'm down with. I want middle of the order. And someone who's not constantly pulling. I'm alright with Burnett when he decides he's open to signing an extension with whatever team trades for him.

QUOTE(Ishmookie @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) join my club. Put me in that club Ish.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) Bmac/Marte for Burnett Anderson/Tracy for Overbay Yes? No? I would do Anderson/Tracy for Overbay. As far as Burnett, unless he opens himself to signing an extension with us, F HIM!!

OVERPAY 4 GRIFFEY AND OVERBAY!!!1!

Alex Smith Finally Signed
nitetrain8601 replied to chimpy2121's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I think Smith will also be good. -
Great interview. Mentioned how it will always be a Cubs town since the Tribune constantly writes about the Cubs and how sometimes they(Sox) might get a blurb on the back of the paper and how Mariotti always writes positive stuff on the Cubs and always something negative on the White Sox. I love it baby!!!!!!!

QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) If you get Overbay and Frank returns then what? You will have two of PK, Frank, Overbay, and Everett sitting each game, right? I sit PK all day, everyday. Hell, I would trade PK somewhere.
-
Guys, why are we comparing him to Aaron? God knows Aaron would be the last to go since he doesn't make much and is a very solid OF on offense and defense. I could guarentee you if we ever got Griffey, Arow wouldn't be in that deal. Cincinnatti would probably do BMac for Griffey straight up and pay a decent amount of his contract.

For those who complain about media perception
nitetrain8601 replied to UofIChiSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Eh I don't give a damn what the national media percieves us as. The Boston Red Sox(team) respects us and they're the defending champs. If we have to "sneak up" on teams and beat them, fine by me. Just get the World Series ring. Don't care who thinks what, why and when. JUST GIT R DUN!! -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) A little bit yes, I'd expect improvements to the team, he has done it in years past, at least 1 move, even just a small move to improve the bullpen or something.... My sentiments exactly.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) It looked like he pulled something, then Coop started to call Widger, and AJ said, im going back in. Yeah, I think Hawk said he tweaked his side of something. No biggie. If he needs rest, Ozzie will rest him for the whole week.
-
QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) Speaking of idiots, I haven't heard anything about Moronatti in ages (I'm not complaining). Is he still around? He's actually been talking good about the White Sox. I think last week he said he thinks we have a 40% chance of winning it all and praised us for our pitching and defense. He also said he isn't worried about a losing streak with this team because it always bounces back with 7 or 8 wins in a row.
-
Swing a 3 way. No way I'm giving up BMac and Contreras because we would have no insurance.
-
I don't think we would be trading Rowand. I would suspect it being a package of minor leaguers. Mid level at that too. Borchard, maybe an Anderson Felix Diaz and all. It could take as much as one player depending on how much the White Sox would be willing to take salary wise. I'd say if the Reds pay his deferred salary of at least half of it(2 million a year) then it would be a great move for us. Kenny, Git R Dunn(though I don't see this happening, I could dream right?)
-
So trade him while we still can. I will say this about Borchard though. He is a very hardworker and I'd like to see him do good in the majors one day.

I could give a s*** less about what eric casillas has to say about us. Who's eric casillas anyway?? Besides a 3rd rate reporter(if you want to call him that) who ain't got crap to talk about.
