  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) So didn't they threaten to bench him They probably did, but the b**** don't want to leave. They should stash steroids in his gymbag to get him off the team. This means Baltimore is back in it for Burnett.
  2. I've officially given up hope. I don't the Sox will do anything significant this year. The one year something could put us over the top.
  3. How come I can't see the post made by the threadmaker? I have no one on my block list.
  4. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) Bruce Levine said that the Sox are offering Burnett a contract in the area of 3 yr/10 mil per year. Stay tuned. I still don't think he's going to accept it even though we're maxing him out in terms of Sox type contracts. He's going to think, well if the White Sox are offering me this, imagine how much the Red Sox and Yankees will give me. I'll be very shocked if he were to accept it.
  5. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) not sure what has been said on this board in the past 1.5 hours, but i can tell you from what i read before those 1.5 hours that this thread is a crock of s***. those 1.5 hours i spent listening to the radio in the car, and on am1000 not even one single mentino of this during their updates. 1 measly caller called in about burnett, but didnt say anyhting about a trade being in place. In addition 1 score update on 670 said that the white sox could be working on a trade for lowell and burnett, but that was about the extent of it. the way people on here post they make it sound like it was reported that the deal was pretty much done and that only a few minor details had to be worked out. I figured that. Everyone makes it seem like it's 95% done. Realistically, it seems like Baltimore got further down the road with the Burnett deal than us. I fully expect him to be traded there if Nevin doesn't accept the deal.
  6. Haha. Didn't he have a game winning hit or something with them?
  7. Wagner is off the block. The White Sox would only trade PK for Thome and that won't be happening, I guarentee. I see no deal, even with the Marlins happening.
  8. Honestly, I don't see it happening. Especially with Burnett saying he won't resign. F' him.
  9. Gload even though he should be with this team. I'd take him over PK.
  10. It seems as if the Marlins fans are enamored with Anderson. They are willing to give up Eric Reed for him. Is Eric Reed any good?
  11. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 02:03 PM) Hmmmm, uuuuuum, no. Damon is not a run producer. Varitek cannot be counted on as a consistent bat. Nixon, haha, sure. Renteria has been up and down. Mueller, yeah, sure. I hate the Red Sox as much as anyone, but them not having anyone outside of Ortiz or Manny is just flat out dumb.
  12. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Anyone else think that KW may spin-off Lowell in another deal? I really don't see the need for him. Maybe the Marlins are saying the Burnett deal is contingent on the Sox taking him. Just a thought. Two Words, One Player: Alfonso Soriano
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) Did Mike North report that we are after Lyle Overbay? If so who told him this? I hate North and he seems to make s*** up. My buddy told me that North said this and I am just trying to confirm i. I don't think we are after him. If we were, that would be f'n great, but the whole "chemistry" comes into play. The White Sox don't want to get rid of too many pieces. Frankly, I'd do that deal in a heartbeat.
  14. Don't know if this has been posted yet. via rotoworld.
  15. QUOTE(thelatinoheat_30 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) *he was saying that the sox are recruiting burnett by the compliments they are giving him and levine seemed to think the sox will get him eventually. *the interesting part is that he said the sox might again consider using contreras as the closer if they do get burnett. i dunno about that tho cause if he comes into a 1-run games, allows a double, he is so easy to steal off of. if that guy takes third base, and w/ contreras's high amount of wild pitches, i don't think it's a great idea. plus wouldn't it take him longer to warm up since he's used to starting? *silvy said he thinks a bigger need is a bullpen arm(which i agree with), esp. w/ hermanson's back issues and marte's inconsistency. levine countered by saying that every team has A and B relievers. because the sox are in so many tight games, ozzie has to use his A guys a lot. the way levine saw it was if you have 4 starters(the 4th being burnett) that can go 7 or 8, you reduce the number of relievers you use. cause since el duque and contreras usually go 6, you gotta use 3 or 4. i'd still say another bullpen arm, like a guardado, would be better, esp. considering burnett's injury past. *just another note, i was reading a recap of yesterday's marlins game and i found a quote from jack mckeon that caught my attention: http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/news_story.asp?ID=131351 i don't know if i'm making too much out of it, but what does mckeon mean by he didn't think anything was bothering burnett? *also another quote from felipe alou referring to burnett I think you're reading too much into the McKeon quote. He's talking about he's doing good with all the trade rumors going around.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) Red Sox fans in chicago=Cubs fans in 2003 nuff said. So how many fans does that leave after we kick their ass in the playoffs?
  17. I'm up for getting any of those 4 guys. Just Git R Done Kenny!!!
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:17 AM) Marte's problems are not the lingering arm problems. Its his mechanics. He had the same exact problem last year. He short arms the fastball rushing the delivery too much and the ball sails. This is why he broke Chavez's hand last year. Its why he doesnt feel comfortable going against lefties and gets deep into counts. When he follows through on his fastball its a crisp 94-95mph with movement in on righties away from lefties. When he short arms it, it sails into lefties and high and away. Its a Rick Ankiel type pitch. If you watch his meatballs, its always when he slows down his delivery a bit, and takes it down to 91 without any movement. He aims it at that point. But I agree when Hawk starts to do a number on someone, HE GONE!!!!! Perfect Post. I have felt this way for some time. He shorts arm a lot nowadays and that's why he is less effective and that's why he has bad control. He doesn't follow through on his pitches at all and that's a problem.
  19. 4 million isn't too bad as worst case scenario at all. Will it cost us a player? We have to see, but people act as if 10 million is deferred per each year through 2025. I'd certainly get him.
  20. Don't forget the fact that Thomas and Dye were gone from the series.
  21. Oh yeah, I noticed on Thursday. They had orgasms every time the ball was pitched to one of their hitters. I seriously would've killed half of them by myself if I had a weapon.
  22. Stupid piece of s*** writers. Go eat some clam chowda with your tawnic and shut the f up. I hope we face Boston in the playoffs so we could sweep the s*** out of them, then I could e-mail this writer back with his own article.
  23. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) It's debatable. We'll see. Let's wait till his career is finished and all the numbers are in. Very True. But at his current numbers, I would say he is.
  24. QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) I hear alot of talk about getting Griffey, but my question is where do you put him? The only way I can see taking him on is if we find a way to ship Konerko and having him play first base. Sure, Frank's out, but IMO Everett is a better option at DH than Griffey. I would put Griffey at CF, Rowand to RF, Dye to 1B.
