  1. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) Don't go after Nomar. He is overrated. he can't stay healthy and even when he was healthy this year he wasn't better than Uribe this year. He's a clutch hitter, still decent defensively and he hits for average and power. That's a reason why I suggested it.
  2. He did quite well. Would I take him over a Wagner? No, but we don't have any current Wagners on this team.
  3. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) because they would also be getting Marte and McCarthy for Burnett and Gonzalez. They really need some relief help badly. I think they would want more. I think a mid level prospect would have to be included in that deal. I wouldn't mind the Sox going after him in FA or Nomar. I think Uribe is just a good bench player at this point.
  4. I don't think Thursday or today were sellouts for the White Sox. Thursday had a crowd of 36,750 or something like that which is 250 short of a sellout. Good nonetheless. I think it was sort of a fluke. Lots of lower bowl games are going quickly and I mean quickly. People want to pay to see a good team. As it gets later and later and the Sox look more in it, attendance will get like this.
  5. He's decent with the bat, but I agree and would say he's better overall than Uribe. But what incentive would Florida have to trade him for Uribe?
  6. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:53 PM) I keep leaving for a minute and when I come back, I see this thread has gained about 2 more pages. I instinctively think "A trade went through!" Then I realize it's 8 pages of discussion on whether Gio is better than McCarthy. You guys love your debating, I'll give you that much. BTW, they can both go to hell if it means we're better this year. Exactly.
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) Nobody said Gio is better than BMACM right now. But BMAC isnt better than what we have right now. Hes not even the best guy on his team at the moment. Since we dont have any room for him, its a better investment to trade him because his value is higher than our other guys. Gio is a much more heralded prospect, was chosen higher, has better "stuff" than BMAC and has a better upside being left handed and with his pitches. BMAC was a good pitcher in the lower minors, and was decent in ST, but has been exposed in the majors and is not going to be ready yet. With the time we will wait through out existing rotation, BMAC wont get the chance he deseves. By the time we need to bring a guy up, Gio, or Ray may be ready. I understand everyone's attachment to BMAC, but look at the facts and whats better for the organization as a whole. Thank you.
  8. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) It's a crapshoot yes, but you're being a fool to give up on Brandon this soon while annoiting Gio the next coming. You're contradicting your own argument here buddy. You're talking about 96% of minor leaguers not making it, meanwhile, you are saying Gio has what it takes. This is just insanity from an ignorant person. Which is the point. We already know what Burnett is. Plus he still has room for improvement. I would trade Gio right away too, but BMac is in demand so I say out with his ass. I'm trying to win a WS and Burnett betters my chances of that happening.
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) Not even close defensively. Beltran is pretty good, but not as good as Rowand. Vernon has the tools, but is lazy defensively. Rowand is that good, no joke. He gets as good of jumps as anyone in baseball and flat saves runs. He ocassionally will throw the ball to the wrong guy (ever OFer does) but he's flat out great out there. Are you crazy?? Rowand is not the 3rd best defensive CF in the league. I'd take Griffey, Beltran, Jones, Wells, Hunter, Kotsay, Edmonds, Jeremy Reed, and Mike Cameron before I sniff Rowand. And that's just guys at CF.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) Flat out....BMAC >>> GIO There is a reason when teams call the Sox they are asking for Bmac. I'm sick of all these people who think they have a clue how to evaluate talent and are ready to write off guys that are highly talented simply because they were rushed up to the majors and struggled. I'll trade Gio, I'd be really hard pressed to trade Brandon and I'd like to think I have a very thorough understanding of the Sox system. Gio has more pitches. Gio's pitches dance more than BMac. Bmac has a suspect change. Gio is left-handed. You could take BMac and I'll take Gio and I'd be willing to bet my team wins.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) Put it this way...out of everyone in baseball, if I were GM, Vizquel is the one guy I'd over pay for. I'm talking about Valido and Gio for s*** sakes. He makes the every day lineup so much better and the move doubles by giving the Sox more depth at 3rd base, which is something they need. In a sense, acquiring Vizquel is almost like acquiring to players. You acquire a starting shortstop (Omar) and you acquire an ultimate utility guy (Uribe being allowed to move to this role). Plus he fits right into the style Ozzie wants and I think he'll mesh in great with the clubhouse. The next guy I'd overpay for is Brad Lidge (cause you'd have him for a while). I'd be giggling like a little girl if the Sox get Omar. Who's valido?
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) Gio is an A ball. And what the hell does "who actually will attack the zone" mean. Brandon's always had good control and always attacks the zone, that makes no freakin sense. Brandon does have good control, but his balls hang a lot. He doesn't like throwing his changeup in the zone for whatever reason. I see him topping out as a #3 pitcher which is what Burnett would be with. Except Burnett has much better stuff. Don't forget, we also got Buehrle, Garland and Garcia on this team. That leaves only two positions to fill if Contreras doesn't get resigned next year. I personally think Jose will be resigned to a smaller contract next year and Burnett would be the perfect guy to fill out the rotation. We're trying to win now. I could give a s*** less about BMac.
  13. Griffey could be had for a guy as small as Timo depending on how much the White Sox are willing to pick up. And whoever said Griffey is not as good as Rowand defensively is on something. He's still better than Rowand and is better than 90% of CF in the league defensively still. Offensively, Griffey would rake at the Cell. I would love to get him, but I'm starting to think that KW and Ozzie are overrating this "chemistry" thing. I know it's a factor, but replacing a guy like PK with Griffey would only help chemistry IMO.
  14. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) Burnett looked good against a pathetic Giants lineup. Marte looked pretty bad again today. Nonetheless, my mind hasn't changed. If the Burnett deal is intended to flip him for Wagner, okay. That fixes the bullpen. And Contreras looked pretty good against a Boston team that is supposed to own him, while El Duque looked even better against them yesterday. I'm fine now with El ContraDuque as our 4th starter in the postseason, especially if the pen replaces Marte with Wagner. I would not be happy giving up Brandon McCarthy, however. Oakland is riding young pitchers like that right into the Wild Card. Since when is Brandon McCarthy as good as Danny Haren and Rich Harden? Hell, when did Oakland develop Danny Haren? He was groomed by STL. I don't give a damn about BMac. We have Gio in the system who actually will attack the zone. Burnett has electric stuff and arguably the best stuff in the whole major leagues(Clement at least thinks so). Marte And BMac for Burnett. I'd do that deal anyday of the week. I just don't think it's happening though.
  15. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) For some reason I'm not too big into the road uni's. To me, there's nothing better than the Black with the pin stripe pants. Those are my second favorite uni's. First is the sleeveless ones though, by far.
  16. Like I said earlier. Contreras was going to come out and do the damn thing. He did it. f*** Boston, f*** the Red Sox, f*** their fans. This is Chicago ho's, we don't play that "Let's Go Red Sox" s*** in our house.
  17. I don't think this deal is going to go through. I'll give it til the end of the game, but I don't see it happening.
  18. Why don't the White Sox ever win the World Series??? *prays*
  19. A really dumb thread. And yes, I do realize I'm contributing to it, but seriously. PK has been a problem for some time. I've not only said this before today's game, I've said it for a while. For a "big bat" he's f***ing terrible.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) The scary thing is that I really think that KW believes this. I know. *proceeds to cry*

  22. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 10:10 PM) There are 2 players in the AL that would be on my team before anybody else: Aaron Rowand Darrin Erstad Are you high? No Manny Ramirez? No Ortiz? No Buehrle? No Vlad?
