  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) Boston Red Sox in 2004: Moved Nomar Garciaparra, picked up Orlando Cabrera, both of whom were former All Stars. They also grabbed Mientkewicz. The Marlins in 03 traded for Urbina from Texas, and also picked up Jeff Conine I believe from the Orioles as a backup. I don't consider Urbina or Cabrera all-star type players. I think Dybber means multiple all-stars.
  2. They were talking about this on ESPN and it hasn't in a long arse time. I think the last team was the Yanks, but like in 98 or 96. Something like that. Not many teams that make blockbuster deals even make it to the World Series(Cardinals were a rare exception last year).
  3. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) I want wagner but I think guardad would be easier and cheaper to get. Guardado is also an injury concern considering he's pitching with a partly torn rotator cuff.
  4. KW not making a move?? He's flying under the radar. I think I know why he's not making a trade. Roberto Alomar isn't playing for a team in the majors, therefore we don't need to trade for him.
  5. The sad thing about Shingo was that he didn't get figured out completely IMHO. The problem with him is that this year, he wouldn't throw his frisbee down the plate, just in the dirt and he threw his "fastball" down the middle of the plate and everybody is able to hit it. He should be throwing the fastball at the corners and the frisbee in the middle of the plate. If a hitter knows the frisbee isn't going to be near the plate, no need to worry about it. Just sit on his HR tee ball and bam its gone. Best of luck to Shingo though. I loved the guy and think he was a class act.
  6. From the Pistons board at RealGM, one of the main reasons was because of his unwillingness to develop Darko Milicic and Carlos Delfino.
  7. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) Ah well, hopefully the White Sox know more than I do. I think this is a pretty bad move, especially if they get 0 in return, but maybe they know more. SB I agree.
  8. Eh I'm skeptical. We'll make the playoffs and win the division. That's all I care about this point. Let's worry about the season before we worry about the playoffs which comes before the WS.
  9. Does the designation of assignment mean he can't use his no-trade clause??
  10. Haha, why the hell would you send Alex Cora to the plate? I'm so damn glad we didn't sign him.
  11. realgmtix.com should be added to that list.
  12. I'm willing to stick with El Duque. Calm down people, when healthy he was tied with Freddy as a top 3 starter in the rotation. I'm confident he's finally healthy and we'll see how it goes. We'll get to see at least 2 starts from El Duque before the deadline.
  13. Yeah, honestly I think we could beat Burnett. This team is full of great fastball hitters. It's junkballers like Tim Wakefield who would give us plenty of trouble.
  14. Rowand isn't moving. The White Sox developed him, just gave him a new contract which is basically a bargain and he's a face for the organization. He's everything the White Sox want in a player.
  15. It's not a rivalry if only one team is winning.

    Eminem Retires

Em's been on a downfall for some time. Since The Eminem Show that is. It's about time he retired. 50 is one guy I wouldn't mind the hip-hop world being rid of. He thought he was everything because of GRODT. Well he didn't take note that it was Dr. Dre and Eminem selling that album(their beats were crazy). You saw what happens when Eminem and Dr. Dre don't oversee an album - The Massacre. Now he's re-releasing that because he knows he failed(he said if he doesn't sell more than GRODT, then it's a failure and right now, he's only at the halfway mark of GRDOT).
  17. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 11:21 AM) People are just sick of crede's lack of offense. We're willing to stand him because of his great D though And Uribe doesn't have lackluster offense?
  18. Mariners, I grew up on Ken Griffey Jr. Reds are my 2nd favorite for obvious reasons.
  19. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) I do realize its a difference, but he was one of the better relievers last season in all of baseball. And IIRC he finished the year strong as well. No one else is Leo, but I'd like to think he's gotten things straightened out. Personally though, I'm like some who aren't exactly for this deal, but I guess it makes sense, especially if the Sox plan on keeping Jenks or whoever they get at the major league level. Still, I wouldn't be expecting a top prospect or anything like that, rather it will be a AAA prospect. Again, you bring up his stats from last year which were with Leo. He hasn't been good without Leo. Nothing leads me to believe that Cruz will become the pitcher of last year.
  20. I personally don't want Cruz. His control has never been good minus last year(with the Magical Leo Mazzone). If you say forget about that, then look at his stats for years after and before that.
  21. I'll give you the politically correct answer. Basically, they see his potential and what he accomplished in the minors and are pissed off that he hasn't done the same yet at the ML level. It's just like Garland, except Garland finally developed(after 5 years mind you) and so they moved on to their new sparring partner. Uribe has actually been as bad if not worse than Crede.
  22. This has to be a move for another bigger move. Jenks and Shingo could become best friends since Shingo throws a 55mph changeup and Jenks comes in with the 100mph FB. I don't think KW would give up Shingo(who's good friends with Iguchi) for something unproven this season unless this prospect was a grand prospect. Hell, maybe he could be going to the Rangers and we're getting the Rangers 1B prospect(who I've heard is supposed to be good) so when we let go if PK(hopefully) we have some guy to take his spot. I'm just throwing out ideas. With that said, I don't think a deal is going to be made. I'd be shocked.
  23. ipodlounge.com, it'll be your best friend.
