  1. Abreu's my pick. Lol. It's always someone you don't expect(see Anderson 2003). I actually have money in a pool with my buddies with Abreu though. This guy is hitting bombs. He's probably going to hit one of those buildings across the street. He's putting on a clinic.
  2. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 06:24 PM) I would think that Clement might be the last option. Oh never!!!!!!!!...he didn't really want to bring Bartolo because he wanted Clement. Kenny Rogers will be the last pitcher used if any. I think Terry probably will use all of them.
  3. He needs to learn how to hit the curve or at least needs to learn how not to swing at it.
  4. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) The most annoying sound to me is the sound of flip flops. I hate them and I hate their noise they make. Another pet peeve of mine. People who wear flip flops who shouldn't be.
  5. Congrats to Buehrle. Hopefully Garland is the next pitcher used and then Pods scores the winning run after stealing 2nd, 3rd, and home.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) I hate that Nuke! I have a few. Number 1 by far is unknowledgable people who think they know what the f*** they are talking about. 2 is complainers. 3 is when someone comes into my room without knocking. 4 is when they don't close the door on the way out. I definately agree with 3 and 4. s*** I agree with the first 2 as well. But 3 and 4 definately. I really hate 4 considering I sleep in the basement and if the door isn't closed, it drowns out the sound from my tv unless I put it super loud.
  7. I love it how Toyota doesn't f around. They don't like something and they'll fix it. That's how you become quality.
  8. Try realgmtix.com stubhub and ebay. I'll be at the first game of the series.
  9. They should get him something. Especially the pitching staff. The guy has been a godsend. I just want to see him knee Torii Hunter in the nuts.
  10. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) I personally liked his chances better with Washington than Cleveland. Leaving Jamison and Arenas might end up being a bad move, we'll see though. As far as the better team it depends. Arenas is known to be a ball hog and Jamison is known to be a guy who on some nights will drop 30 and other nights will drop 14 with a lot of shot attempts. Jamison is also kind of slow for a SF and Arenas can't play D at all. Basically it gets down to Hughes & Lebron vs Arenas & Jamison. I'd take my chances with Hughes and LeBron since I'm pretty sure Hughes could shut down Arenas and LeBron would do more than Jamison. Also, keep in mind Cleveland still has money to play with to get another near max guy. They're looking at Dalembert, Curry, Chandler, Kwame, Swift and a couple of other guys.
  11. On ESPN, they made me realize something. IIRC, they said something like we are last in total hits. That's sad. Even if Mark mowed them down, 1 run is not enough in 9 out of 10 games you play. Offense needs to pick it up. I suggest dropping PK in the order. Uribe is still kind of in a funk. I think you'll see the usual 3 or 2 runs given up by FG. The question: is the offense going to give him run support?
  12. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) you don't follow baseball, do you? Damn, thanks for proving me wrong
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) BEST.PROMO.EVAR! I think the adult audience would love that. A lot more people would show up simply because she is 100X's hotter than Mia Hamm.
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) Hughes got the award because of his steals, period. He's not a good defender at all, in fact him making first team all defense was like Jeter winning a gold glove last year. A lot of these awards mean nothing, absolutely nothing. He is a pretty good defender. He did not get it because of steals alone. If that was the case, Jamal Crawford would've made the All NBA Defensive Team the year before last. Hughes is a pretty good defender and that's why he got the award, not because he led the league in steals. Hell, I think Jim Jackson led the league in steals in 99 and didn't get on the All NBA Defensive Team. To say it was just his steals is ludicrous.
  15. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) you don't follow baseball, do you? Yes I do, I meant as a replacement for Hallady. Gzus.
  16. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 09:30 PM) Holy s***! I didn't even realize he would be making close to 10 million a season. A little steep for a guy that's had one good year. Simmons is a good pick-up. But he shouldn't be making anymore than the MLE. I agree, he was overpaid. Next thing you know, Paul McPherson will be offered a max deal by Atlanta without even having to be in the league for the past couple of years. Anyway, Miami, NJ, Boston, Philly, Orlando and Washington are in different divisions. Unless you meant the same conference SoxFan101.
  17. Probably Clement. I heard that Francona always wanted Clement in there and starting since he would be on normal rest.
  18. Today was Ozzie's normal, throw in the bulls*** lineup. He's done this before, but usually he does it on the 3rd game of the series.
  19. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 07:03 PM) Good post. There are just a couple of certain posters who have chosen favorites and players to hate no matter what they do. Keeping an open mind is a lost concept... Like Joe Johnson, right? Stop reading scouting reports from 2 seasons ago. Although he may not be worth that money, he is a solid player who seriously emerged and had a great season. Forget about what you thought of him prior to last season and realize how well he played. I watched a couple of games, saw him extensively in the playoffs, and came to the conclusion that he is certainly a much better defender than you and your "serious basketball fans" give him credit for. Thank you. You have given me hope for basketball fans on this board. And yeah, I don't get how anyone calls Joe Johnson a bad defender. He's an above average defender. Some people improve on things hammerhead, especially in 2 years. He was a pretty poor defender when he was defending nothing but PG's while with Philly and with Washington, but as a SG, he's an + on the ball defender and he's great at anticipation of the pass. He's simply a ballhawk. Larry Hughes will improve that team and he's going to make a good 2nd or 3rd option. As far as Atlanta, the reason why they are going to try to sign Johnson to a full offer sheet is because they plan on at least trading Al Harrington + Childress for Eddy Curry if a S&T is done. There are rumors that Pax is looking at Harrington and Atlanta badly wants Curry. The Bulls still aren't sure of Eddy. ATL: C-Curry PF-Marvin Williams(though like Lamar Odom, I think his best position would be SF) SF-Josh Smith SG-Joe Johnson PG-Salim Stoudamire CHI: C-Chandler PF-Harrington SF-Deng SG-Hinrich PG-Duhon Lineup may change for the Bulls though because Pax wants to develop Deng into a SG.
  20. Hughes is a pretty good on the ball defender. There's a reason why he was first team All NBA Defense. There's a ton of guys who are towards the top for steals and don't get the award so to suggest that he only got on because of his steal numbers is pretty poor.
  21. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 02:19 AM) Larry Hughes was always the type to go where the money was and "screw winning". Wow, okay, Hughes was making a little less than the MLE last year. Plus he was an unrestricted FA after the season. Secondly, since this is the second time being a FA, how can you say that he said screw winning?? That statement makes no sense. Third, Hughes is probably the nicest guy's you'll ever meet. His brother has some type of disease and over half of what he gets goes to research to help him out and others who have the same condition as his brother(I forget what it is, but it's major) and winning means a crap load to him which is why he signed with the Wizards when Jordan came back. This statement is flat out wrong. As far as the Wizards, they don't have cap room. They were over the cap last year with Hughes. Only reason why he wasn't retained was because they couldn't afford him. Since he wasn't a RFA, they didn't hold his rights and therefore couldn't go higher than the MLE to keep him which every team has to play with. He thinks he could be part of the solution with LeBron in Cleveland so I'll commend him for that. Wizards are slightly under the cap, but they don't have much to be a player in FA, even with Hughes leaving.
  22. I went with whatever gets people to the games. I personally don't care as long as they show some interest. Being a bandwagon fan is how you first get into a team. That's how I got into the Cowboys, White Sox, Bulls, and Blackhawks. Them being part of my hometown(for the most part) had something to do with it, but really it was because I started becoming fans of them when they were winning(not that I had a choice since I didn't understand sports until around 92(6 years old).
