  1. Hey AO, you ever realize that the Red Sox and Angels are good fastball hitters. The fact that Mark is a "finesse" pitcher plays right in our hand considering they pound the fastball.
  2. I like the first one better too. A thief doesn't work with brightness. He's in the dark.
  3. I think it looks excellent. I think it's better suited as the August one though since there already is a July wallpaper and AJ's bat flip is a must. Looks awesome though. I love how you played with the White Sox logo. Looks professional.

  5. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) They were filming a movie. No excuse. Vaughn should've demanded to wear a Sox jersey.
  6. I believe the White Sox should pursue Pettite then. He just seems to win in the playoffs and always give quality starts. He's a vet and I'm pretty sure he would welcome a trade to the best team in baseball. Also, he's a good personality and I don't see him clashing with anyone on the team. Thoughts? I say this because I don't think Burnett or Schmidt are realistic options and Lilly shouldn't be a realistic option.
  7. We are the best team in baseball. We aren't the most talented, but as a collective unit, everyone helps everyone else going.
  8. was spotted at the Cubs game with a Cubs jersey today. WTF??? That sh*t shouldn't be happening. I rather him be a Twins fan than a Cubs fan. And Jennifer Aniston allegedly was there too. Vince Vaughn, you are now a jagbag.
  9. Damnit, barely missed the right guy. Haren would be unbelievable for this team.
  10. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) Eddie Basden Charlotte United States Guard 6-5 215 PLEASE PAX Actually, apparently that's who Paxson's going to invite. He likes his defense and thinks he has a good head on his shoulders. Anyway, I thought Louis Williams got drafted 2 picks before the last. I think Jackie Manuel would be really solid(a 6'5 SG who's a defensive stopper), Jawad Williams would definately be worth a look if we weren't stacked at SF, Darren Brooks would've been a nice look if we weren't stacked at PG and if Pax didn't offer the QO to Pargo. I think he's a great player though. Where's the love for Cedrick Banks??? Just playing. I think someone will take a shot on him in their summer league considering he's a lefty sharp shooter.
  11. BMac will pitch a perfect game through 15 innings and get the win
  12. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) Name three point guards in the last ten years as good as he was defensively. Who was a better overall point guard than kidd since he was in the league? Payton was better at both aspects ( offense and defense) and then stockton and kevin johnson were both better offensively but not as good of defenders. Jason kidd is a first ballot hall of famer whether you or anyone else likes. Kidd He went to a team that was 26-56 the year before he got there and they ended up with the best record in the easteren conference at 52-30. As a point guard he led the nets to two finals i think that says something about how good of a player he really is. They were no worse than the seventh best defensive team while he was there and that has alot to do with his intensity. Kidd is a dick, i will admit it, but so is payton and half the players in the nba. Payton is one of those guys who thinks he has never commited a foul along with cassel. Kidd thinks he runs the show ( sad thing is he does). I would put Magic, Payton, Isiah and Stockton(not in order)off the top of my head as better PG's than Kidd was. Kidd wasn't that good until he got to NJ. I think that's what people are missing. Before that he was an above average guard(think Andre Miller, but a little better at passing) who made a couple of All-Star teams. That's why he wasn't even talked about much. And it's not like he came close to winning the championship either. He took the Nets during the down years of the EC and you know you wouldn't be able to say with a straight face that the level of competition didn't play a role in it. He even wanted to jump on the Spurs bandwagon to be with Duncan. If you were to build a team right now, you're telling me you would take Kidd over Shaq or Duncan??? Wow. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) It's absolutely terrible, you know? Danny Ferry is the next Larry Bird. Believe it or not, but he's a projected Larry Bird. I was 11 years old back in 1990 when they were saying that s***, and even then, I knew waaaay better than to utter some nonsense about how a guy projects out to be an NBA legend type player on the strength of what he did in college? Really, anyone who sits back and says "This guy is the next Karl Malone" or "This guy is the next Sidney Moncrief" is just pathetic. That's why I ain't tuning in for any draft coverage, I just can't put up with the bulls***. You'll only become dumber in the long run. I thought that Anfernee Hardaway was the next Magic Johnson? Oh no, wait, that's Shaun Livingston. Well projections don't always work out. But it's the best way to describe style of play. Anfernee Hardaway was a Magic Johnson type until his knee caught up with him(that's what happens when you're shot in your knee cap). It's not saying, these players will be as good as the players they project, but play similar to them. You're telling me when people said LeBron was a mix between Jordan and Magic were wrong?? He's exactly that. Shaun Livingston was doing damn well last season until he got injured. Do you watch the NFL Draft? Or any other drafts because that's how they all are.
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) AJ Burnett would be great. You cant argue with 100mph from a starter. Schmidt would be good as a plan B. Lilly should be a plan NO. If we're going after starting pitching, that would be my order of attack.
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) Colorado in Colorado? The Baltimore Orioles aren't a good hitting team? The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim? The Cubs have hit pretty good lately too. The Cubs are not a good hitting club. We made them look special though on Saturday. When did they face LAA? Was it during Vlad's DL stint?. I'll give you Colorado and Baltimore though.
  15. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) The reason Contreras has to go is because he's signed for $8 million next year. Schmidt's option is for $10 million. Either we exercise it or sign him longer term. In any event, you have to subtract Contreras's $8 million to make it work on a zero-sum club like the Sox. We aren't Boston or the Yankees. Same thing applies for Uribe, who is signed for the same period as Vizquel. Again, Contreras is only 6 million and not 8 million. Yankees are picking up some of his contract.
  16. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) I'm just hoping B-Mac throws a real good game today, which I think he'll do, to quiet down those who want him traded. Perfect situation for him to succeed today in a big pitchers park. ...or ruin any chance of a Schmidt deal.
  17. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 01:17 PM) OK. I'm dropping it now. Schmidt >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>El Duque That's all I have to say. Career wise I don't know. I think Duque has a better ERA. Past few years, I'll give you the argument that he's better. As far as right now, Schmidt= or > El Duque, but they aren't far off in comparison as of right now.
  18. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) I don't know s*** about this guy or any other college player for the matter, but you're putting him and Jason Kidd in the same sentence? That doesn't sound like nonsense to you? That's why I wait until these guys actually play in the NBA, and then I evaluate them. I find it odd that people will just compare some raw, unproven motherf***ers to NBA legends like Jason Kidd and John Stockton. Is nothing sacred? Yeah, let's put a stop to this. Otherwise, your review was informative, at least in my particular case. I just can't stand college sports. No it's not nonsense. You take into account what he did in college(individual and team accomplishments), take into account what he was for a team(if Illinois didn't have him, where would they have been last year) and his attributes(skillset and mindset basically). All things point to him being a Jason Kidd type point guard with a better jump shot. Believe it or not, but that's the gist of how players are evaluated and how they decide who is worth the #1 overall pick and who is not even worth drafting. Believe it or not, but he's a projected Jason Kidd. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 12:39 AM) Wow. Add Gary Payton in his prime>Kidd KG>Kidd There's are tons of better players I would take ahead of Kidd as history goes on. Plus the fact that he's a malcontent with most coaches, it's not even hard to think those players are better than Kidd. BTW, I hope Amy Williams does a porn or something. Gawd is she smoking hot.
  19. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) Well according to people on the SF board he was hitting 94 and 95 on the gun last night. Granted its not the 97 he was throwing last year, but I would take him throwing 94 over El Duque and his 84mph any day of the week and twice on sunday. But he was a pitcher last year with great velocity and decent control. With his fastball being 5 miles slower, he's now an average pitcher because he has a 94 mph, but still only decent control. He needs to get his velocity at least up to 97 IMO to be effective as an ace. Right now, he's no better than El Duque which would make trading for him for that big of a price worthless. I rather have Burnett. Also take this into consideration. Boston and the Angels have hitting clubs that love to see the fastball and jack it out of the park, so when you pitch a Schmidt without all his velocity or even a Burnett, you'll be walking on water while being connected to a battery. You're just asking for trouble. If Schmidt gets it back to at least 97 within his next 2 starts, then I say it's okay to take a flyer on him, if not let him be.
  20. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) The same people who think that Ozuna has a better glove at SS than Uribe. Nope, Ozzie thinks he's a GG calibur SS, but he just doesn't have any offense. I just think he's better defensively than Uribe, I don't know about GG calibur though.
  21. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) Please. Uribe is struggling but his bat is still way better than Valdez's. Even Ozuna is 10 times the player Valdez is. Valdez was hitting .198 on the season. There's a reason he is in the minors right now. He has a good glove but absolutely no stick whatsoever. You said who's a better defensive player than Uribe who would be available. You didn't say better overall player. Valdez has a better glove than Uribe. Some think he may even be a GG defensively.
