Scheyer was just waisting time. I mean, even with the Illini's run he should've known what school he was going to. Anyway, Carlwell, Collins and Semrau is a damn good start and a better one than I thought they would have.

Well if the number slots are garbage, than that just adds to my point that there is no reason to move up. Garland is our number 1 today. Tommorow it's Mark, next is Freddy. Simply no need to move him. No need to break up the Cuban Connection because both of them have been pitching better than expectations.

Let's get this straight. Konerko has never been on fire this year.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) Crede has done ok by me, he makes some serious plays that he makes look easy, and I dont think we appreciate it enough. If he can get on another streak and hit around 270, thats perfect.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) He's going to choose Duke, as we've known for months. If he somehow picks Illinois, i don't even know how i'd react, i'd be beyond shocked. God damn North Shore kids Got that right. Never could depend on them northeners.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 17, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) Preliminary votes are in....Scheyer to Duke "According to various sources on TheDevilsDen.Com"... Let the meltdown begin... OMG, how could he?? He all misled us into believing he was going to come here. WTF??? Duke came out of nowhere. *Jumps off the bridge*

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 17, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) With the off day on Thursday you could move him up by having him go today and Sunday You don't need to. He's excelled in the 5 spot. The problem is with the hitting, not pitching. Guys have had their bad outings. Your whole staff isn't going to go through a season without bad outings. That's impossible. Leave Garland and 5 and everyone else where they are.

QUOTE(marsh @ May 17, 2005 -> 07:15 AM) I think it's safe to say that the pitching domination honeymoon is over. I think the staff will still be good but not 1 or 2 runs per game good. Also I'm not gonna be too quick to jump on the pitching because I think that they have been responsible for like 75% to 80% of our wins this year. It's the offense that needs to wake up. Well Said.

QUOTE(LostInBoston @ May 17, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) After seeing El Duque his past few outings, I'm starting to wonder whether or not we shouldn't move Garland up a day or two in the rotation. What do you guys think? If yes, when do we have a couple off days in order to do so? More like you've seen his last outing. His outing before that he was good. He's given us a chance to win in every outing but his last. So no, you leave Garland where he has excelled for now. Don't mess with him and the rest of your staff. And I don't know why the hell people are so hell bent on breaking up El Duque and Contreras, they have done fine(even for #3 and 4 starters). Compare ERA and Wins with the other 3 and 4 pitchers in the AL and they aren't at the bottom. The rotation is fine. This rotation won't have everyone having an ERA below 3. Hell, not everyone is going to have an ERA below 4. Deal with it guys. Too many guys here are in panic mode with the starting staff. Guys have rough outings throughout the year.

Bat PK 9th, because he deserves that if he's still batting for this team. I would squeeze Rowand inbetween Thomas and Everett. More RBI chances for him(Rowand) and he still has protection.

Well OSU is going to face more sanctions and probation time. That's why I think he would have to be dumb to go there. Wherever Conley goes, that's where Oden will end up. I've heard this from Oden before too. He wants to be with Conley since they were teammates forever. He isn't going to the NBA no matter what anyone thinks. He wants to go to college. He said age limit or not, he isn't making the jump. I say we have at least the same chance of landing Oden as we have with Conley because they want to play together. With Ohio State facing possible sanctions, that chance has to move up.

QUOTE(black jack @ May 16, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) like someone said, if they play .500 ball from here on out we still win 90 games. i'm not worried. So what's 0 out of the past 3 games?

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ May 17, 2005 -> 12:11 AM) Facebook is just a contest to see how many "friends" you have by putting them in a big list. I know people that waste hours on that thing. I've heard some bad stalker stories on there and s*** too. It does nothing for me, and i refuse to register. People obsessed with facebook need to get a life. I'll stop the rant here, i don't have another hour to waste at the current time. Please Bless Us. Yeah, I've heard there are some losers who are on there all day. It's fun, but not that fun.

Pax has already said that he only is going to get filler players(think of your Linton Johnson's and Ronald Dupree's) for this year because he is looking at the 2006 FA class. Don't know why considering the good players that will demand money will most likely sign back with their teams. Seriously, does anyone think Amare or Yao would sign here? I don't. Anyway, Bulls still have to resign Duhon with part of that MLE. With what Pax has said he's looking for, Kukoc(on a 1 year deal) and Antonio Daniels/Mike Ruffin(another one year deal) seem about right.

Anyone think that the Illini's shot for Oden and Conley just went up with Ohio State possibly facing more self-sanctions and more probabtion time as there were 9 more violations NCAA investigators found against the basketball program including money given to players?

When the hell do we start worrying about Konerko??

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 17, 2005 -> 12:26 AM) That must be a walker thing. He had Olivo doing it, then cruddy and now Konerko. Actually working for Crede though. He's at least getting a hit or on base once a game if not more. PK is an automatic out. I was at the game with some of my friends. In the 8th they were chanting Paulie!!! with the rest of the crow. I said, "STFU, Paulie hasn't done jack all year and he ain't starting now. Also, whenever people start that stupid chant, he does jacks*** the rest of the way, usually a rally killing DP or strikeout. Then some of my friends kept cheering and I bet one of my friends next to me that he would end up getting an out. And he did. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 16, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) The constant strikeouts are the most disturbing trend. Watching fastballs down the middle of the plate with the game on the line for strike three is unacceptable. You seize NOT to amaze me. Hitting everything on the head. -
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 17, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) The problems with Marte can be summed up by watching his delivery. His problems started towards the end of 2003. He stopped following through on his fastball. Now if you watch he short arms it instead of bending over and following through on the pitch. When you short arm pitches(ala Cotts) the ball has a propensity to sail. You never quite get on top of the pitch and it just takes off. Thats what happens when Marte pops it. He can throw his breaking pitch over for a strike like crazy. But he gets to into that and hitters lay off of it. He then drops the velocity a bit to get a strike over and then whammo. To be successful as a reliever you must pitch ahead and stay ahead. He has the stuff, he just needs to locate it more. When he throws strike one he K's hitters at a good clip. When he gets to 2-0 and 3-0 the conga line starts. The ability to throw strike one and be aggressive is what seperates Hermy and Polite from Cotts and Marte and Shingo. Took the words right out of my mouth. For some reason now, he doesn't like to follow through on his pitches and I've noticed this also and have been saying it all year, even through his good outings. I don't know why he doesn't follow through because the ball is definately floating on him as soon as he let's it go.

QUOTE(Steff @ May 16, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) I find it sad that some of you here are more interested in attendance that what the team is doing. :headshake My argument is that Sox fans are missing what the team is doing. They could see them live and rather sit on the couch and tell their wives/girlfriends to toss them another beer.

QUOTE(Steff @ May 16, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) How many sell outs would be good enough for you...? 2 series per month.

After interleague. He already said he's not going to play the field this year. Makes no sense for him to rush back for early June when most of the games are going to be interleague.
-
QUOTE(retro1983hat @ May 16, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) Does anyone else just keep looking at the calendar and can't wait until June so we can put some, some, of this attendance stuff to rest? Of course that series against the Drays ought to be scary during 4th of July week. Not happening. In fact, June would make it much worse. It'll show that even with the better weather, we won't sell out. Only games we'll sell out are Cubs, Yanks, Red Sox and Twins, and playoffs(if we get there). That's not alot at all. And I'm not even sure about the Red Sox series being sold out(probably close). That's pretty poor.

I think we should have 32 wins. Couple of those losses hurt. We can't have that many blown games, this early in the season.
