  1. QUOTE(quickman @ May 6, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) I just got done hearing a dumb cub fan on am 1000 ask why don't the Cubs trade hawkins to the sox for Marte. I will correlate this suggesion with that one. Yeah, that's just stupid. I wouldn't mind getting Hawkins, but you're not getting anymore than Adkins or Cotts for him. Seriously, Cub fans have to be stupid if they think that could work straight up.
  2. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ May 6, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) He'll be back Hopefully.
  3. I also don't go to Wrigley. Been there once and absolutely hated it. The seat colors don't match with the other seats in the park(IMHO, the ones on the rooftops look more professional than the ones in there) and it's too tight of space. Plus the idea of pissing in a tub and walking through that ballpark just gets at me. I'm going to try to get seats against the Cubs at the Cell, but I doubt I will be able to.
  4. Nice to see. I just hope we can continue this for at least this month. I also have 94 wins as the magical number.
  5. I think of him as a longtime White Sox already. That's good. I don't even have to think about behind the plate because he calls damn good games and his offense is top 3 for catchers IMO. Plus he's a lefty. I'm sure KW will get a deal done to sign him long term.
  6. Yep, poor guy. Hopefully we win the Series for him and his family.
  7. Something tells me that he's going to go. I hope not. He could be the difference between Rush coming to Illinois. Same with next year's recruting class because without Brown, we are a really different team.
  8. QUOTE(Ballpark Frank - Big Hurt @ May 5, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) I'm pretty happy with how our bullpen has done. Aside from maybe three or so games the bullpen has been excellent. I think so as well. With the exception of the Shingo game and maybe another game, the bullpen has been great. They specifically mentioned Hermanson.
  9. I'll just post what I said in the other thread into here: Sox get some serious DAP on BBTN. Kruk mentions the bullpen(OMG, he's wrong, our bullpen sucks, he doesn't know jack about our team) as a great strength and Reynolds mentioned our pitching staff. Gammons said the hitting scares him a bit and even though he loves Jeremy Reed, he loved that trade for Freddy G. They also all agreed that KW will make a major trade for anything he needs before anyone else does.

  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 5, 2005 -> 07:30 PM) Are you freaking kidding me. This is so easy...Bears are going to win 8 games minimum and my guess is they win more like 10. This isn't because they are that good, its more in fact due to the easy early schedule they have. Oh and the Browns are freaking awful. Seriously too. It's not even a question. Even if the Bears underperform, the only team that is a complete team is Minny. GB is in shambles. Detroit has no type of defense.
  12. I think the Bears, simply because they're in an easier division. If they were in the same division, I would go with the Brownies. Also, if they had a QB who was decent.
  13. QUOTE(Tmar28 @ May 5, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) jeez what the f*** guys? this is a f***ing message board, the whole f***ing point is to discuss the white sox and that includes what espn and the media says about them. like whats been said many times before, don't f***ing read the thread if you dont like it. no matter what you may think, you are not obligated to respond in a thread. just say no. oh and post count don't mean s*** and you know it. It's not like I have to go to ESPN to get my White Sox information. But that is where the casual fan gets their information. Where do people get clothing trends?? By watching tv and seeing what the people are wearing. That's what this is. Instead of MTV telling them what type of music to like or what's cool to wear, ESPN is telling them what team is cool to like. That's what important. For us to one day be a Boston Red Sox, or New York Yankees or a LA Dodgers, we need the casual fan to have our back. That includes having the ballpark filled, having great media attention from BBTN. Don't like it, don't look at the thread. The title says what the thread is going to be.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 5, 2005 -> 06:16 PM) I love Tony G. but I'm not sure I'd want him back. He's had knee injuries ever since he left the Sox and we do have Pablo Ozuna right now. Not to mention the fact that Tony wants to play everyday which could not be gaurenteed by the Sox. What he said. He's not needed, Let's do a trade for something else.
  15. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 5, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) You're crazy. You're supposed to b**** at the very sight of an espn or attendance thread, act disgusted, and then contribute to it by making a few posts... Yeah, I agree with your post and whoever balta is. I second that.
  16. For all the people complaining. There is something called "winter coats" to keep you warm. They invented it a long time ago. It works wonders. Really crazy. You see, you put your shoulders in these 2 insulated holes and put the coat on. Then you zip the zipper all the way up. It keeps your whole upper body warm. Some of them come with "hoods" that keep your head warm as well. It's really crazy. I wonder if anyone has them in Chicago besides me.
  17. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ May 5, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) Better hope it's unseasonably warm in October. If not, front row seats fopr me. Wouldn't be surprised if there was.
  18. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 5, 2005 -> 02:04 AM) Oh i can feel the love so much I completely avoid posting on this topic. Against my better judgement I will say that both sides have valid arguments. There are so many variables as to why attendance is the way it is. My forte is not racking my brain to list them. One side says " you're b****ing about attendance but I can b**** all I want about the weather and who the Sox are playing ". I could have swore the reason we go to home games is to see the home team win. Right now the Sox are an attraction in and of themselves. If that isn't reason enough to go to a game I don't know what is. Another good point.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 4, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) Did you enjoy the cell tonight?? Short lines I guess. Got there about an hour late because of my Math Final.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 4, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) What's pathetic? The fact that we had an awesome attendence for the month of April -- better than last year -- even when the month included such huge attractions like Detroit, Cleveland, and Seattle? Sheesh. b**** b**** b****. And, I just read SS2K's post. I think it's damn impressive, the best April attendence since '94, for a month that didn't even include the likes of Boston, New York, the Cubs. We're going to draw well when we play those teams -- and once summer hits, people are out of school, work, etc -- this won't even be discussed anymore, I guarantee it. Or gaurantee -- one of the two. :banghead Yeah, because back in 94 we were off to a better start than we have now. I forgot about that. Not! When you have the best team in baseball, breaking records and off to its best start in its history(not since 94 as many of you guys like to use that number) then it is pretty damn pathetic.
  21. Again, honestly, for a team that is off to the best start in it's history, this is pretty damn pathetic and if JR moved the team, I wouldn't be able to say he's dumb for doing so. I don't see many other fans making excuses for not going. Like sox-r-us said, Seattle draws alot and they have nothing but cub-like fans there. Simply no excuse at all. And yes, I do go to alot of games and for the 50th time, I plan on going to 60+ this season.
  22. Oh geez, if they showed all those highlights, it would literally take up half of the show. Everyone wants coverage and there is so little to go around. They talked about us breaking the record, they talked about us winning, they showed us going ahead, get over it. If you don't like it, don't watch the show. Duh.
  23. Yeah, they can't ban him from the NBA like that. I'm sure a lawsuit would come.
  24. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 3, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) Right, he's definitely better then some guys who got ludicrous contracts this offseason(Benson and Milton) the problem with signing him to a long term contract before the season is Mr. Mccarthy. Brandon's going to be in the rotation next year and some people were thinking that, that could have been at the expense of Jon. The sox have a lot of starting pitching options and decisions to make this upcoming offseason, should be interesting. McCarthy might not pitch until 2 years from now when El Duque and Contreras' contracts are up. We might keep Contreras for way cheaper money, but I see El Duque retiring after his contract. Insert Brandon McCarthy there. But BMac isn't having such a great season in Charlotte now. No need to rush him for this year or next.
  25. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 3, 2005 -> 10:06 PM) If you mean move the team then...... :fyou :fyou :fyou If not many people are supporting it in a huge market, then there is no point. You could just watch them on tv. Seriously, there is no point for JR to have a team here if no one is going for a first place team off to it's best start in it's history. You could still watch them on tv(I don't mean you in particular) and it wouldn't change a thing except you would actually see people there. Honestly, Cub fans don't make excuses and they are the most dumbest fans you'll find on the face of the earth. I think it may be time for JR to move.
