  1. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 07:07 PM) Yesterday Jay Bilas was talking about it and said hes more like 6'5.. I never heard anyone say he was 6'7, or even close.. And I dont think its fair to hate on the big men who have the touch to shoot the long ball.. Its the style they play in Europe, the big men arent just stuck on the inside they can pop the three.. I like the 3 point line where it is I could understand if it was a legit 3 point shot. If it was at least international, I wouldn't have anything to say about big man hitting it except more power to them. But 19 feet isn't anything. Lots of people could hit that shot consistantly. My cousin who's a girl and has never played any sport that involved a ball can hit is consistantly with a guy's ball. Especially from the two wings. And no, I didn't see her play just once, she plays with me and a bunch of guys at my school at least twice a week. I just tell her to stay at a wing and if she's open just to hit it. It goes in about 50% of the time. It's way to easy of a shot.
  2. I think DeRon will be better than Kirk and I do think he's the #2 PG in the draft. I said he's a little overrated, but let's not underrate him now. I certainly would take Felton ahead of him, but not anyone else really. I think Luther will be the Tony Allen of this draft. A very nice pickup. He does alot of things that NBA players these days don't do(90%) of them.
  3. QUOTE(orangekrush88 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) Thank you Illinois! This year was such a trip, in one of college basketball's greatest seasons ever I will always remember the Illini. This team was the most inspiring and heartful team I have ever seen, they just refused to give up, no matter how bad they were down they just kept coming to the bitter end. When I look back I will always remember this team as one of the greatest, and maybe the greatest never to win a title, college basketball TEAMS ever. Thank Illini! I will say that. In my opinion, it was the most cohesive team not to win a title. They also went farther than Stanford and St. Joe's did last year. They did play with heart. I won't forget them, but also with the memory of the great season, the fact that we couldn't close the job will sit in the back of my mind.
  4. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) Powell is NOT 6'7 He is 6'6 MAX I'm just going by what the analysts are saying. But whoever came up with the Pittsnoggle example is right. That is a better example. A 19 foot jumper isn't hard. If it was at least the international line, that would be a little bit harder, but I suggest moving it to a legit 22 feet away from the rim. Then you wouldn't have guys who shouldn't be able to hit 3's hitting them.
  5. Does anyone know when we'll know about Rush and the other potential signees for this year????
  6. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) I concur that Nitraine is a moron. Anyways. this is as unforgettable team as you are going to have in your life. It's kind of like the 2000 Sox team where even though you don't win it all, you wouldn't trade the memories for anything. coming from someone who can't get even a part of my username right when it's listed, I don't think I'm the moron. I said it was a nice season. You want me to get down and start sucking off every player that was on the team?? That ain't happening.
  7. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) Powell is listed at 6-6 and i am not sure if they do it with their shoes off or not. I know they do it when they are scouting them... but if that listing is with his shoes on he is even shorter. Without, that's why I said 6-7. I remember Jay Bilas and Billy Packer also having him as 6-7 with shoes.
  8. Anyone know why Santana wasn't pitching yesterday??? I thought he was their ace.
  9. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) Powell is only like 6'5 and even so still shot about 39% from 3pt so I dont think using Powell as an example of a "big man" shooting is accurate More like if Augustine was hitting 3's... but Powell is capeable of shooting and making the 3pointer 6-7.
  10. I think it should be 22 feet like the NBA line was from 95-98. 19'9 is way too damn easy. Tim Duncan could probably hit that with his bank shot easily.
  11. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 11:44 PM) Yeah I agree with your statement here but it has nothing to do with your previous point basically saying "it don't mean a thing without the ring". Are you trying to say if the Illini won the game tonight, they would have a better chance of making the Final Four next year? I think guys like Brandon Rush would be wanting to come here more than ever. It would really help us in next year's recruiting class though.
  12. The only time we've ever done good on National TV is in 2000.
  13. QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 06:14 AM) LOL! They're going to move back the three-point line because it's "too easy" to make baskets??? Are they going to move the hoop up one foot as well because it's "too easy" to dunk? Yeah, that's exactly what we need: Less excitement in basketball. The scoring should be comparable to hockey. :rolly When guys like even Roger Powell could step out and shoot a 3, yes it is too easy.
  14. I was also thinking that it woud help more HR's stay in the ballpark. Does anyone know for the 500 level if they let you watch part of the game on the deck for the Fundamentals area they got up there???
  15. QUOTE(Spiff @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) One thing I got out of that game: The 3-point line needs to be moved back. On ESPN, they were talking about this and Digger Phelps said he would be surprised if it wasn't moved back by next year. I agree, it is too easy.
  16. Hopefully that rule will be put in place. It will only help the college and pro games IMO.
  17. Oh yeah, Illiniboard.com has Greg Oden listed as a possibility. It says the Illini, Indiana and WF are the teams interested.
  18. Anyone know what happened to Kyle Wilson?? He was a 4 star product recruited by Bill Self. Anyone know what happened with him???
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 10:37 PM) I'm upset, and I was nearly in tears after the game tonight. But your post was a joke. I know you are venting, but to say you can't give a team that went 37-2 and was basically one of those wide open threes away from winning a title any props is ridiculous. I said I'll give them an applause, but I don't think they deserve anything more than MSU or Louisville received.
  20. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) 200+ homeruns will not be enough for you this year? How many our we on pace for after today? Oh yes none. God, someone disagrees with the style of play and they get flamed. It's not like we're another team's trolls. We all want the Sox to win. We just feel the style of play boring.
  21. QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) Yeah, after that squeeze I just ran for my room and cried. I loved that team so much and they were gone. As Hawk would say, 'Poof.' Hey, not fair, NU has no available scholarships this season! Everyone is coming back! Not Tj Parker for some stupid reason.
  22. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) You are an idiot, that is all. Nice constructive criticism. You get stuck with a bad english teacher??? A Final Four is nice, but unless you get a couple in a row or 3 in 4 or 5 years, you really can't get your program rolling. Does anyone think this team is going to make it that far next year with the losses of Powell, Luther and DeRon??? I certaintly don't. I'll give them an applause for making it that far, but at the end of the day, it won't do much for this program. That's not the sadness in me talking, it's the realism. I'd be surprised if the Illini start next year ranked in the top 10. I think Brock will replace Luther's scoring as he's 6-4/5 and is supposed to be known for his explosive scoring, but who's going to replace Powell and Deron??
  23. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) Did Shaun Pruitt become a terrible player overnight? Have the Illini given up on him? Apparently, Bruce thought so as he didn't want him to play this year for some reason. I know he was hurt and even when there was a possiblity of him coming back, Bruce didn't even want him to try.
  24. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 10:16 PM) Lon Krueger brought in higher rated recruits than Bill Self. 3 McDonald's AA for Krueger, only 1 for Self. Your right, we will start having recruits like the ones from scandal to the Lon Kruger area. Self was starting to get the All-Americans(Wright and Villanueva come to mind). Anyway, we're probably going to have our worst recruiting in some time under Weber. We might steal a couple of 4 star recruits, every here and there, but nothing consistant like a IU or MSU.
  25. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) Because recruiting rankings are always right. Signed, Shavlik Randolph Charles Jackson amd Jamar Smith will be good players Rigggggght. You are high my friend. Shavlik has played well. He's too finesse so he was never going to translate well in the NBA, but he definately would help any team vastly. He gets overshadowed alot on Duke. They just have tons of players. Even guys as their 12th man probably would be our 7th or 8th man off our bench. Rankings aren't far off from what I've seen. The only time rankings are wrong about a player(we are talking from mediocre/average to blue chipper) is when the guy has been known to have a mental problem. That's it. Jackson and Smith won't be anything more than decent bench players. Illinois needs Rush(I heard that he was leaning to Oklahoma with Illinois being in 2nd). If not, they have no one. They also need DeAndre Thomas.
