  1. QUOTE(bmags @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 01:17 AM) IMO, false accusation of rape is probably the worst accusation around *child molesting probably overtakes it*, but these are allegations that even when proven false stick with people. I feel bad for that lacrosse team, their coach f***in lost his job because some girl lied about something with grave consequences. What a lowlife. I completely agree, and it is incredibly common on college campuses. Because of this I have taken to following the good old standard of American juris prudence, "Innocent until proven guilty." I have known a few people whose lives have been [ruined is too harsh a word] thrown upside down because some dumb drunk sorority girl got drunk, woke up somewhere that she's not familiar with and cries rape or date-rape. Just the mere accusation permanently taints peoples view of them without any good reason. Back to the Duke case, do you think that the city will bring charges against the girl for filing a false police report? I think they have the obligation to prosecute her to the fullest extent of the law after what she has put the guys, the lacrosse team, the school, and the entire city through.
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 05:51 PM) The wrong thing at the wrong time? The kid talks about skinning hookers? When exactly is the right time for that? I mean gosh do you have some hilarious Jews in the ovens jokes too? Yes he is a sick son of a b****. What's the difference between a Jew and a . . . Oh wait wait that was rhetorical
  3. I really like this line from todays game: Bullpen (Pitches-Strikes): 28-23 I love when the bullpen comes out and just fires strikes out at the hitters and challenges them. Nothing is worse than when someone comes out the pen and cant find the plate (for example last night's cardinals game)
  4. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) I like Frank and wish him the best, but he looks like a complete jackass right now, saying we should have kept him instead of going out and getting Thome. As opposed to saying 'yea they should definately have left me go. I'm past my prime, an injury waiting to happen, and a shell of the man I used to be. Oh, by the way, do any other teams out there want to sign me now?' I mean, yea Frank can be a dick, but of course he's going to say that he's the better player, its a combination of posturing and the fact to be at that level you have to be a little conceited. I have very little problem with people expecting a lot out of themselves
  5. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) Freddy Garcia + AJ Pierzynski = stolen bases for the Tigers Jim Thome, Paul Konerko, and AJ would all win in a footrace against Dimitri, no matter how poor of a thrower AJ is and how slow to home Freddy is I can't believe he stole a base
  6. I'm just looking at the box score now, someone explain to me how Pudge got a SB? HOW IN THE WORLD DID MEATHOOK GET A STOLEN BASE?
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 01:55 PM) Better players than pods have been sent to AAA to figure stuff out. And it would be more of an extended spring training kind of not permanent. The only way he is going down to AAA is on a rehab stint following time on the DL. He has got to be out of options by now.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) Monk Clash of the Titans or Flash Gordon? Clash of the Titans Parker or Coltrane?

  10. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 06:55 PM) That depends on whether or not he's swinging for the fences again this year like he did last season. Agreed, and I think he tried to adjust himself to hitting in the Cell and taking bigger swings. I would much prefer the 2001-2003 300+ hitting AJ with ~10 HRs. That would be great
  11. Interesting Stat Line Right Here: Chicago White Sox HR Total: 3 Jim Thome HR Total: 3 BBTN actually giving you an interesting stat. Im surprised that he's the only one who has taken a ball deep through 6 games. I'm not concerned about this, god knows that the Sox will hit for power with Thome, Konerko, Dye, AJ, and Crede.
  12. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 01:21 AM) Just got back from the game. It was an excellent time, had excellent seats, etc. What a heartbreaker though. There have been seasons where Boston College has been the best team in hockey, and this year was not one of them. BC was too young, and with Collins playing only sparingly, it's tough. Not to mention, being 1 of 600 Boston College fans, with 18k Wisconsin fans was also tough. Good season, tough loss, seems to be a repitive thing being a Boston College fan. HELL YEA BADGERS!!! That was a great game and that Schneider kid is going to be great for years to come. Badgers are men and womens national champs!!! This was Wisconsin's year to win it. They had their regional round in Green Bay and the championship in Milwaukee. THe stars aligned nicely for them. They should be good again next year. They kept the KK open till 6 AM for the hockey team on Saturday night. This just shows the WCHA's dominance in college hockey. GO BADGERS!!!
  13. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) Um if we went with a righty against Michaels, you then have a righty versus Hafner? You gotta pick your poison and Cotts v Michaels was a match up Cotts needs to win. Disagree there, you do the same thing they actually did with Hafner. You give him the IBB and create the force. His walk there would be inconsequential (assuming that Michaels gets out) and would get the rookie (who can not be subbed out, I believe he is their only catcher left) up with two outs and righty righty matchup with our closer. Oh well, sometimes you just miss situations. Its early in the year for everyone, including the manager
  14. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 08:07 AM) Farmer is an opinion thing like Hawk. He is not great but he works. Putting him at PBP was a huge mistake. Has North spoken of this since they have gone on the air? Has he been silent on the issue? How about Mack and Harry? The SCORE is a very poorly run operation. The station in my mind is unlistenable. Between the hours of 6 AM - 6 PM I just can not listen to the score. Every single one of their personalities drives me absolutely nuts. No one more so than Mike North and murphy, I despise those guys. Boers and Bernstein wouldn't be soo bad if they weren't dicks to every single caller that dared to call in. However, I think their late night guys are pretty good . Lawrence Holmes, Zach Saban, another producer/host, those guys almost always put on pretty good shows and arent arrogant unlistenable pricks like the rest of their station.
  15. AJ drops the ball on the exchange from the glove to the throwing hand more than anyone I ever have seen.
  16. Anyone else starting to like Singleton and Farmer together? They are no Rooney and Farmer, but Farmer is actually making me laugh this year. He picks on Singleton on the air, it's hilarious to me.
  17. Best Pilot Episode of All Time!!! Hands Down Jack Black, Owen Wilson, Ben Stiller's Wife, the guy from Robocop, this is just absolutely hilarious Heat Vision and Jack Too bad it never came to fruition (btw, Stiller is all gloating at the beginning because his show that got cancelled after 8 episodes won an emmy)
  18. Sunday Baby!!! Driving home from school to go with my dad to see them raise that pennant and kick some Injun Ass!
  19. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 12:09 PM) Really? Jennifer Aniston must not have been in town at the moment. :rolly You really think he's faithful? He came to the bar that all my buddies work at here in Madison and brought multiple girls back to his tour bus parked right outside. Whether it was screw em or snort with em I'm not to sure, but I'm fairly sure that he's not faithful. Just my hunch, none of this fact.
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 10:58 AM) I laughed more at Owen and the others then I did at Vince - who I was told repeatedly "stole the movie". Gloria throwing a fit at the reception (holding her breath stomping) had me laughing the most. The motorboat thing was just strange. I'm with you on that. I actually loved Wedding Crashers in spite of Vince Vaughan. I just don't find him funny. I don't know what it is, but everytime I see him in a movie I just don't laugh at him. I mean there were some great lines in Wedding Crashers that Vince said, but I don't think it was him who made em funny, I think it was the writing. You can definately put me down on the anti-Vince Vaughan bandwagon. And on top of that he tried to creepily hit on my sister a few months back, not a plus in my book.
  21. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 09:17 AM) There isn't really enough interest to warrant a new forum. That being said, I watched the majority of the Wiscy-Cornell game with a Badger friend of mine.....Going into a third OT with it tied at 0.....damn. Yea thats what you get when you match up the two teams with the two lowest GAA and the goalies were on there games. Both goalies made some ridiculous saves in the OT periods to keep that game scoreless. Wisco was #2, but playing in the WCHA powerhouse they clearly were the better team throughout the year (especially when Elliott was healthy). The WCHA is such a powerhouse of college hockey. I was just reading TalkBHawks.com for the first time and I didn't realize that there was such love for Skille? He's good and all but to me if Kessel is available you have to take him. He is an absolute stud, you should have seen him play so of the U-18 national games, he's is a going to be a beast in the NHL
  22. QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 12:46 AM) EDIT I posted my statement in the wrong but I might as well add that at U of I if you were truely serious about getting into a frat there is no way that you couldnt I am one of these "fratboys" that a lot of people here seem to hate and I completely agree with this statement. I'm at another big ten school thought, not U of I. If you rush a frat hard enough odds are that you will get into it. Fraternitities are almost always looking to take as many people as possible at the beginning and try to weed them out as time goes on through pledging. The one thing I don't understand is all the greek hate, maybe because at Wisconsin the greek system is relatively small as compared to IU and U of I. But, at least in my case, I don't think either way about people who aren't in frats, why the hell do they than think of me with such cliche stereotypes. A frat is a cheap place to live, a good way to meet friends freshman year, and a great place to have fun. It is no more or less than that in my opinion. People boast about their pride in whatever frat they are, but honestly who gives a f***? If they think that their house is something special and greater than everyone else than let them. You will always have people on both sides of this. Personally, I don't understand how people get so wrapped up in "the history and legacy of the house." Yea I know we get it in engrained into us during pledging (and trust me everyone tries their hardest to get the pledges into that, pledging was not an easy experience for me) but I never understood how someone can so blindly get attached to things like that. On the U of I admission things, what this topic originally was, I have no problem with U of I raising their admission standards, however, I think they need to change their admissions procedures. If they are going to do a rolling admission with the deadline for early action (or something like that, I remember it was around November 1) I feel that they have to get back to people, all people on a timely basis. If they are on the bubble and not decided yet they should let them know that they are deferring their decision until Feb/Mar/Apr/May or whenever it is going to be. The 1 simple reason why I am not at U of I right now instead of Wisonsin is because U of I waited too long to get back to me. It took them nearly five months to send me my acceptance, and I don't think I was really that borderline of an admittance (top 1% SAT, top 3% ACT, National Merit Scholar, Top 20% high school class). From personal experience I feel like that turnaround time is important, but with such a large application base U of I has no real reason to improve these methods.
  23. I was little sad this morning to see that there was no college hockey form. To me it is a hell of a lot more intriguing than following the Hawks at the moment. The opening weekend of the NCAA tourney just finished and they are down to the Frozen Four (North Dakota, Maine, BC, and Wisconsin). Probably the biggest upset in college hockey history happened in the first round of the tourney with #2 seed Minnesota (probably deserved the 1 seed over Wisconsin) losing to #15 Holy Cross in OT. Minnesota's team is unreal and they were playing in nearby North Dakota so that is an amazing upset. BC trampeled over BU 5-0, just two weeks after losing to BU twice in the last month and a half. Maine beat heavily favored MSU to make it to the frozen four. And Wisconsin won the second longest game in college hockey tournament history with an amazing 1-0 victory 11 minutes into the 3 OT. There were a combined 99 saves in that game with Wisconsin's goalie getting regional MVP honors after posting back to back shut outs. The Frozen Four is next weekend in Milwaukee. BC will face North Dakota at 2 Central and Maine will face Wisconsin at 7 Central, both games on Thursday on ESPN2 (so they dont interfere with Final Four). That Wisconsin game should be rocking with it being a short 45 minute drive from Madison. Wisconsin could become the first team to not have to leave the state to win the national championship. The final will be Saturday at 6 on ESPN, I personally would love to see a WCHA showdown between North Dakota and Wisconsin. Go Badgers! I'm just wondering if anyone else gets as pumped over College Hockey as I do and follow it throughout the year
