QUOTE(RME JICO @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 06:23 AM) September 20th the Sox will regain First Place in the AL Central. Detroit's Record from August 1st - September 20th - 24-23 (94-58) White Sox Record from August 1st - September 20th - 33-15 (95-57) BOOK IT! (Notice not green) Hopefully, the Tigers somehow transform into the 2003 Royals.

QUOTE(Al Lopez @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 06:49 AM) Yesterday on the Score there was an interview with John Dewann from Baseball Infosolutions, whom you may have heard of. They track just about everything there is to track, and he was talking about our 5 starters plus BMac, and their fastballs. Specifically, how many of each guy's fastballs hit 90 mph. From lowest to highest percentage, they were Buerhle, Garcia, Garland, Vazquez, McCarthy and Contreras. That's probably what most of us would have thought. He added, however, that Garcia's percentage from last year to this year went from 89% (meaning 89% of his fastballs were over 90 mph last year) to 48% this year. Then he added this: last year Buerhle's fast ball, when it was on, was at 85 mph. This year he reaches 85 only 44% of the time. The numbers support what our eyes are telling us. I guess the extended time to win the World Series last year has caught up with our starting pitchers.

The Hell! I am with ya. Let's sweep the Royals, then take care of the Jays 3 zip.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) We're so quiet that Levine cannot even make-up the news. So true! Well, let's get back to reality and play some good balls.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:21 PM) It's pretty disappointing that the transaction that led to the most conversation on this board today was Maddux for Izturis. Come on Levine! Not even a little drip of Sox news?
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) Too busy doing backflips over the Maddux deal. Oh well, I guess that's it! Sighs.. At least Cubs fans got some excitement.
-
Levine, where are you?
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) Any big trade now is very likely Soriano to the Twins. Thus, I'd rather not here of any big transactions now. I want to hear about the Twins' trade only if it involves Liriano for Soriano.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) You hit the nail on the head right there. They are thinking about Brandon replacing one of their starters at a savings of about 10 million dollars a year, plus not wanting to add another $13 million a year long term on top of that. To the Sox that is the equivilent of adding about $20 million a year in payroll, and giving up their top prospect. Remember this is more than just Xbox trades going on here folks. Just because the names wow you, doesn't mean the trade is right. Thanks SS2K5, that's what I think is going on. BMAC is a good pitcher, but no way he is untouchable based on his talent. His next to nothing contract is what appealed to KW.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) oh well. So sad!

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) Yeah, we are done. Well, let's postpone our excitement to 2007 trade deadline.
-
QUOTE(hi8is @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) my productivity at work is no offically 0% Same here! Soriano, Tejada, Andruw Jones, Zito, where the hell are you?
-
Well folks, the clock is ticking down almost to the deadline, and nothing is imminent. I guess we just have to gut it out with what we currently have. Once the trade deadline is over, I kinda thinking that the team will get back on the right track and win a playoff spot.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) My only hope is that in three years, we won't look back and think "what the hell were we thinking by making McCarthy an untouchable", in the same way that we were with Borchard a few years ago. I like McCarthy, but he's no sure thing to become a #1 or 2 starter. That's what I don't get! Many peoples on this board are just having a LOVE for BMAC. I only see him as a little above average pitcher. In my eyes, his highest ceiling would be as a #3 starter. However, I will only want to move BMAC for Soriano (if signed not rental), Tejada or Andruw Jones.
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:32 PM) I'm willing to bet it wasn't just BMac. If it's just BMAC to get Jones, KW should be shot for not making the trade. There got to be many others beside BMAC that the Braves want. Or perhaps, Jones' contract and salary are just way too big for the Sox to manage, especially when the Sox already has one of the highest payrolls in the league.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) Then why are we looking for bullpen help and why did we go out and get bullpen help if we have several arms in the system that can replace a great arm like BMac's in the pen? How does that make sense? SSI, forget it man. Quite a few people on here are just wanting to have a trade just for the sake of excitement and making a trade. Trading Wilderson for Vazquez is a stupid trade to me as well!
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) BMAC in the rotation +wilkerson>Vaz Who replaces BMAC as a reliever then? We DON'T need more offense. We need pitching terribly! If our starting pitchers can turn around, we will win the final playoff spot, or even the division. No way I would trade Vazquez for Wilkerson straight up.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 12:24 AM) Every single team is going to want McCarthy because he's just a special talent. I think there could be ways to get around having to give up Mac or Anderson in a deal even for an ace like Jason Schmidt. Obviously that's only if the Giants really would trade Schmidt, we'll see. The same "special talent" that got killed by the Orioles. When you have a chance to pick up Schmidt, it doesn't matter if it's BMAC or Anderson, I'll do it in a heartbeat. Now if we have the Twins' Liriano or the Tigers' Verlander, and the Giants ask for them, I would not do the trade. I just see BMAC as a little above average pitcher. I just don't see BMAC in the same level with Schmidt, Liriano or Verlander!

QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) How does this reflect on Ozzie Guillen that this simple change which would improve the team is so obvious to us fans, yet he refuses to do it? That tells us we know nothing! Stop being an arm-chaired manager, and let Ozzie do his job.
-
QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) If it happens, I am going to seriously consider hating Ozzie. He's on the fence for me right now, but I still like the guy. Even if Javy has 80 pitches and no hits through 5... I'd consider taking him out. This is one of the most stupid statements that I have ever read. If the score by then is 5 to 0 Sox, Ozzie would be slammed if he takes Vazquez out. Stop being so absurd!
-
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 06:09 PM) Oh give me a break. Ozzie was the benficiary of a very good team and received a lot of lucky breaks. Are you honestly telling me that Ozzie has a goddamn clue when it comes to his bullpen? Sitting from where we are at, we hell don't know what is going on in Ozzie's mind or the club house. Be the manager if you want!
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 06:08 PM) Didn't Jerry Manuel win Manager of the Year? I don't think I've seen a World Series Champions trophy during Manuel's era.
-
QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 06:08 PM) slow your roll Just want to get this game over!
-
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 06:07 PM) Once again Ozzie shows he's a great cheerleader but a clueless manager. I mean, honestly, Ozzie is one of the worst managers I've ever seen in managing the bullpen. And that's one of the reasons why he won Manager Of The Year in 2005.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 06:06 PM) thank god. well, it's a game again. 7th Riske/Thorton 8th McDougal 9th Jenks The game is sealed!
