QUOTE(Allsox @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Here's the article: Individual-game tickets to each of four World Series games that could be played by the American League Central Division Champion Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field will go on sale Tuesday, October 18 at noon. Tickets will be available only through TicketMaster - by phone at (866) SOX GAME and (312) 559-1212 and online at whitesox.com. Tickets will not be sold at ticket outlets or at the U.S. Cellular Field Box Office. Fans may purchase up to four tickets to one game only. World Series ticket prices, as set by Major League Baseball, are: Lower Deck Box $185; Lower Deck Reserved/Bleachers/Upper Deck Box $140; and Upper Deck Reserved $125. World Series tickets must be printed at home using Ticketfast or picked up at the U.S. Cellular Field Box Office. Tickets that are not printed through Ticketfast must be picked up at the U.S. Cellular Field Box Office, Gate 4 Windows 1-10, between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20 or Friday, October 21 only. Will Call ticket orders that are not picked up by 9:00 p.m. Friday, October 21 will be cancelled and the amount charged to the customer's credit card will be refunded. The World Series will begin on Saturday, October 22. Based on some of the numbers I heard about the ALCS tix sale, please remember you roughly have a 1 in 100000 chance in getting some so don't b**** if you don't get any....And don't send emails to the White Sox either, they don't control that....And the most important thing to remember: YOU'RE NOT THE ONLY ONE GOING FOR THEM! I apologize if my post sounds crass but after reading some of the posts about the ALCS, it seems that people actually had the audacity to think they were gonna score some and that's simply not the case.... No, f*** that. I can be pissed off if I want to. When the people who have been supporting the team and going to the games all year can't go to the f***ing playoff games it sucks. And don't tell me otherwise. Sorry if I had the "audacity" to think I might be able to actually not have to pay a premium for tickets I thought I in a way "deserved." It boggles my mind that someone has the "audacity" to say that I had the "audacity" to think I had a chance of getting tickets.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) I just want it to be the way it was not too long ago. We should be able to camp out for the WS! That is what I want to speak out for. That's what I've been saying to people all day. Technology is f***ing us in the ass. There should be a frigging line ( real line) not techno line bulls***. Let the people who want the tickets the most get them. I've gotten shutout twice now and I've decided that I can't wait any longer. I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet an pay $300 I really can't afford in order to go to one (hopefully) ALCS game. This is ridiculous. I would be all for some kind of action because this is not right.

Winning game 1 is the key. So, going along with that, Contreras needs to be dominant and stay away from the walks. I really think whoever wins game 1 is gonna win the series.
-
This is brutal. I think if I let myself, I could definitely cry right now. It hurts too much to think about the Sox. I don't know what I'm going to do.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 07:29 AM) Is that Miss Butterface? You know, everything looks good but her face! That being said, I'd tag her. Ok, back to the Sox...lets go get them. Beat up the central and we head to the playoffs. Lets get those bats going. Ok. I'm a little late but I have put my two cents in. After careful deliberation and examination of the girl in question, I have determined she is not a butterface at all. She has a bangin' body and she is just making a weird expression. I bet she's all-around hot. Although, it could also be that, as my friends tell me, my standards are not what they once were. For me though, I'd take her to the boneyard. On to the main subject though, this thread kicks ass. We need some of that positivity back. Let's keep this going. We had our slow time and now it's time to turn it back on and roll into the playoffs and win the WS. Crank it up f***ers

QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 08:05 AM) Ahh, here is my slight glimmer of hope. Why not just say that he is not going anywhere period. He could say, I plan to finish the season as a Red. He could say that he plans to finish is career as a Red. But no, he leaves the door open for more rumors by saying that. I'd love to hear a rumor about someone else for a change. Yeah, I caught the same thing. Good enough for me. Give me anything to hold onto and I will. We need this.
-
In. It's been said, but how can anyone really give up on them? How can you do that?
-
Hearing this really pisses me off. I can't remember too much about Wimpy, but I loved that guy. He was awesome. At the time, if I had a choice, I would have given Hawk his walking papers. Just when I started accepting Hawk, you hear something like this and think that Hawk can go f*** himself.

This sucks. One f***ing move could have improved us a ton. Even f***ing Ron Villone would have been nice compared to nothing. f***f***CUFUCCKFKFFFJFKF

I'm hoping something trickles in late. I tend to agree that the prices must have been insane for KW to not do something. Part of me is telling myself that while the other half is furious and wants to start throwing things.

QUOTE(mrzo2733 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) Ok. I can't take it anymore. Do y'all remember when there were actually threads about whether you would rather win a world series or hold on to BMAC? I called this back before he ever started a major league game. A prospect is a prospect. Can you imagine asking the same question now? He will still probably be very good, but he is not Roger Clemens. Let's win now and everytime BMAC comes back to haunt us, I can look at a Sox world series poster or something. I would trade him for Aubrey Huff, absolutely. Aubrey Huff would start EVERY game of the playoffs, not just the first. I couldn't resist patting myself on the back.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) Maybe it's just me, but I don't watch McCarthy pitch and think "wow, this guy has amazing upside". And yes, I think if McDowell pitched in the Cell with the way the ball carries now, he would have had a lot of problems keeping the ball in the park. Ok. I can't take it anymore. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) I've posted off an on this board and others for several years. No one has ever directed this kind of talk at me. It has no place on a board of this kind. If you think my point makes no sense, by all means rip it. But there is no reason to make a personal attack. I've never made one against any of you. I agree. Quite frankly ( Stephen A. Smith is gay), I haven't agreed with a lot of what you have said recently but I can see where you are coming from. Don't attack people personally, just because some people post more often than others, it does not give them the right to belittle the opinion of others as stupid or unknowledgable.

I can't take this much longer. I'm starting to get restless. I'm just hoping that Kenny has like 3 deals that he's thinking about and trying to drive the price down, and then at the last minute he's gonna pounce on one. If we don't do anything, hopefully nobody else does anything major either.

QUOTE(ceffa2000 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 09:29 AM) Still not convinced Burnett would be better than El Duque in the playoffs. JC & El Duque would not work out of the pen. I think El Duque would perfect in the pen for the playoffs. Basically, his stuff is non-existant at this point. I mean all he throws is garbage. I think at this point he has a better chance at contributing with pure guts in the pen and not for six innings in the playoffs.
-
At first I was not in favor of making the deal for Burnett. I have come around though. As the deadline gets closer and closer, any deal for pitching would be good. The reason I want it to happen now is that then we can move Contreras to the pen and eventually we will have El Duque in the pen too. If we can do this trade and then follow it up with another one for a reliever, we are looking at a dominating pitching staff. Our bullpen would be sick- El Duque, Contreras, Politte, Cotts, Hermanson, Guardado? fill in the blank some lefty reliever, and maybe Jenks if we want to use that roster spot for him. That is a championship caliber pen. Plus Burnett is a power pitcher and he adds a different dimension to our starting staff in a series. We'd have a good blend of different pitching styles to throw at people. We are definitely better off for it.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) Are you just speculating or is there actually news to back up this information? Jason Schmidt and Omar Vizquel is looking more likely by the day if you ask me. All they do is keep on losing. They are now 14 games under .500 with a worse record than the Pittsburgh Pirates and 7 games out of first in the NL West. That is pretty sad. Aubrey Huff is too pricey? I guess we will have to see if they drop those crazy demands. I would not mind seeing BMac, Anderson, Sweeney, Fields, or Marte gone. WIN NOW!!!! I totally agree. Win Now! says it all. I don't care what we give up ( as long as it's mostly prospects) We have to make moves to win it all. I will be very upset if nothing happens. Really though, while I worry about it, I just can't see us doing nothing.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) I don't mind him,but I wish they would have given Defalco the job. I don't think Carmen would want it. I personally would consider it a downward move. Plus, he would have to go to the other station. Carmen would be good though.

Make a GOOD deal, Kenny, or don't make one at all

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:25 AM) See, this is a bad idea. You don't just make a deal to make a deal. You make a deal if it makes sense and if it helps you're team. You see, in a sense i agree though. What I am saying though is- let's help our major league baseball team. If it takes for us to overpay in prospects, then fine. I'm not saying we should make a deal just to make a deal. I'm saying let's make this deal matter. -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) You're right on top of things, aren't ya? :rolly Wait, I don't get it.

QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) A lot of the deals mentioned in the rumor mills scare me more than excite me. Danys Baez? Please NO. At any price. AJ Burnett as a 2-month rental for BMac and Marte? Marginal. Aubrey Huff? Ok, depending on price. ********* The best deal would still be Schmidt/Vizquel for Contreras, Uribe, and Anderson. AJ Burnett would be okay if he'd sign a 3-year contract. Billy Wagner would be a big plus, but he's also a likely rental, so I wouldn't overpay. BE CAREFUL KENNY. DON'T MAKE A SPLASH JUST TO PROVE YOU ARE WORKING. Make the RIGHT DEAL(s) or don't make one at all. I couldn't disagree with you more. It depends on what your idea of a good and bad trade are at this point. For me a good trade is ONLY getting big players who can help us, regardless of what we give up. I am absolutely willing to overpay to get guys like Guardado, Wagner, Vizquel, Overbay. A bad trade for me would be to only get a guy like Scott Eyre at the deadline, even if we got him for Timo. I will be so upset if we do nothing. So much so that the idea of Burnett is getting better and better ( I don't really like him too much) as time goes by and I get more afraid that we are not gonna do anything of substance. The only way Kenny can upset me is to not make a splash. At some point we have to not worry about making a "bad" trade and just suck it up and get what we need to make it to the promised land. My sights are set squarely on a deep playoff run and anything short of the World Series will be failure in my mind. We've been waiting 46 years to get back, let's not blow it because we didn't want to give too many damn prospects.
