QUOTE(palesox38 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) I'm sure by now all of you have heard that the Sox are interested in Aubrey Huff, but according to Jayson Stark, that deal would also include Danys Baez. He also stated that the sox want to make that trade as well as trade for Burnett. I say do it. Many may say that it effects chemistry too much, but I think thats a little over-rated. It would be great to pick up Huff, Burnett, and Baez. Two potential blockbusters. What a statement that would be! I can see this happening. I was just talking to my buddy about the Sox and Cubs (he's a Cubs fan) and I kind of started thinking that I would not be surprised if we got Burnett and then Kenny followed it up with a trade for a reliever. I bet he already has something in the works for the bullpen if we indeed give up Marte. So I can definitely see two big trades happening very quickly. I'll say it again though- Guardado is my guy. We need him. Kenny, let's get this done.

I think people should definitely just relax. I must say first though that I missed almost all the game cuz I was at work, so I didn't have to watch what happened. But I think that this is actually a good thing from the way I look at it. First and foremost, we still have a big lead so it's obviously not time to start worrying about that. The reason this is good though is we are getting a chance to play the Red Sox right before the trade deadline and use it as a measuring stick. I have never bought into the whole "I don't wanna make a trade because it might disrupt the chemistry. I just don't see how going out and getting a guy like Guardado (the guy I want) will upset the chemistry. A pitcher can stand in a corner and not do anything in the clubhouse as long as he comes in and does his job. I have felt and still feel we don't have the team to win the World Series and that is what all of us have set our sights on. If we were to sweep Boston or take 3 of 4, it would reinforce the notion to KW that we should just go as is. If this kicks us in our butt a little, then it's the best thing for us. We need to find out now where we stack up vs. a World Series caliber team, so we can adjust and go from there. That is why I think yesterday's loss was not altogether bad.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) Let it be known: this is my guy. This is the ONE guy I want to see in a Sox uniform down the strech moreso than any other potential target. If Eddie comes in and is able to maintain his current success, our bullpen is instantly one of the best in all of baseball. I have to say I agree 100%. Guardado is the #1 guy I want. Torn rotator cuff or not, he's what we need.

Something is breaking soon. I can feel it me bones. What's that smell? "Fear"

I just don't know why we would give up Marte. When healthy he is HUGE part of our team. Burnett just doesn't feel right to me. Guardado and Wagner are on the top of my list of who I want. Kenny Rogers and Omar Vizquel are some others who I would like.

QUOTE(marsh @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) Your on shaky ground calling Hermanson a power arm but the rest is golden. That's what I was thinking. Maybe calling Iguchi not unproven too. But just nitpicking here. I have to admit I was one of those people who was really down before the season. I had my share of doomsday, woe is me type posts when I first joined in December. It's nice to be wrong.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) I love this. Thanks to JR from us fans. I know he's a big fan too and wants a ring as much as anyone here if not more(even went as far as saying he would trade any of his Bulls Championship Rings for a White Sox Championship). Let's go Git 'R Dunn!! I think I've heard him say he would actually trade all of them for one world series ring.

I would choose Pauly. He seems cool, and I've heard quite a few stories about him and the nightlife. They're not exactly good stories either, so originally I was pretty shocked. I would like to see what he is really like.

QUOTE(drowninginflame @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) I dont care if you're taking a buddy to a sox game for the first time. I would rather see alot more sox fans than before. I feel like if I go somewhere and someone else is wearing sox gear you've got an instant friend. whicg normally goes something like this: Guy one: NICE! Guy two: f***IN' RIGHT WHITE SOX BEST TEAM IN BASEBALL, f*** THE CUBS That has happend to me in numerous bars That has happened to me many a time too. That guy automatically becomes cool with you. As far as bandwagon fans, it's good except for one thing. I am just a little nervous about playoff tix ( "it's early" disclaimer). I don't want random people making it harder to get playoff tickets. They should make you take that quiz before you buy playoff tickets. Now that would work.

I think I truly hate Peter Gammons. It has gotten to that point. I hate him.

Getting Eddie G. would be a beautiful thing. I don't know about Burnett though. He has never really put it all together for a long period of time. He gets hurt a lot too. I guess it just depends what we have to give up. I don't wanna lose Marte. I don't wanna be trading any major league pitching away. With Eddie Guardado our bullpen becomes sick.

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) LOL! Absolutely hilarious... I think i'll wait to vote after the Polls fixed... However KW has to be really careful. This teams success has everything to do with Chemistry. Adding some washout steriod junkie like schmidt or guy like Vizquel who'd we be trapped with for 2 more years isn't going to help us. We need someone who's not too old and washed up, but experienced enough that they can add to the team. Not to mention play a position we actually need help with, which would be 3B, SP, or RP. Dude, you lost me from the beginning in that other thread when you said that Jason Schmidt was never an ace and that he somehow managed to have 4 fluke years. One year is a fluke, 4 is not. The guy was flat out dominating. You made some good points though about him after that. If he really didn't throw as hard when he was with other teams ( Pittsburgh? I think I remember him there), then started throwing faster when he got to Balcoland, that's a little suspicious. He does have a stock frame too. I think pitching is all we need at this point. Also, I don't think you need to worry as much about affecting chemistry when getting pitching. Hell, the guy can sit in a corner by himself all the time and it really doesn't matter as long as he goes out and does his thing when needed. Third base would be a different story though.

I would choose Metallica- For whom the bell tolls. That's been my pump-up song for like the last 7 years. Everytime I hear it I get crazy.
-
I think he's a top 5 manager. Why not try something new? It's gotta be frustrating having such a bad pen. Don Nelsonesque.

QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) i think yankee fans were doing the same way as us from what it sounds like on their board I'm a little worried about Matsui too, he's got a whole country voting for him. I hate the Yankees so much. Yankee bastards.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) Using fake emails is fine by the way. As long as they're formatted correctly just but something random '@hotmail.com' or something. Just make sure you validate it correctly. Ok. Thanks.

Just got started voting now. Figured it's time to do my duty. Question- do the emails have to be real or can you make them up? I don't think I'm quite as computer savvy as many on here. Lets's get this done.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) whoever changed the title of this thread....props....its nice to see some culture on here Yeah I caught that too. I was just reading about Kubrick in the tribune.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 12:01 AM) Damn good all-around ball player. What about Coco Crispies? And not just because he is crazy-good against us. He is the man. He made the greatest catch I have ever seen in person in a game against them last year. I was in shock. Robbed Frank of a double.

QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) The three albums pre- Steven Perry are quite good. I don't think I've ever heard a pre-Steve Perry Journey song. I didn't even know that there was pre-Steve Perry Journey until you said it, but I looked it up and there is.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) f*** that, that song's awesome. Everything else by Journey sucks balls, though. EDIT: And just to save my manhood, I listened to Fuel by Metallica and Mercy, Severity by Mudvayne consecutively. You're both wrong. That song kicks ass and Journey kicks ass. Listen to their stuff sometime. It's good. I thought that was a fitting post milkman. I would be happy if it stuck.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) Yes to Schmidt Yes to Oswalt Yes to Clemens No to Lilly It's that simple. I would trade BMac, Anderson, and another prospect for one of those 3 guys. It's not too steep of a price for an ace. I agree. I would give up whatever it took to get Oswalt, Clemens, or a for sure healthy Schmidt. Ditto for Lidge. Lilly doesn't make much sense to me. We need another pitcher and whoever it is needs to be dominating. If we got any of those guys I would really like our chances.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) OH NO. We lost our 5th series of the year! Now ESPN is never going to take us seriously! Yeah, we suck. I was talking about the playoffs and maybe even World Series. But since we lost 2 games to the Cubs we suck, right. We should be worried, right? It's 2 games folks. We won the last 8 before them. Prior owns us, it's as simple as that. Don't make too much of it.

I think the best match-up for us would be the Orioles. The worst is the Angels. That team scares the hell out of me. Scoscia would destroy Ozzie. I think he's the best manager in baseball. Part of me would really like to see the Sox play the Yanks in the playoffs, even though if they make it they will be very dangerous. I want to play the best and I just hate the Yankees so much, I would love to play and hopefully beat them in the playoffs.

Before this year, I would love to have Pierre. Right now I'm not sure. Before this year he would have been probably in the top 5 of the best outfielders in baseball as far as I'm concerned. I had heard that he was the hardest worker in baseball. But recently my friend told me that they are unhappy with him in part because he has been lazy this year. Basically, I don't really know. If Kenny found out what was going on with him and we wouldn't have to give up a ton to get him, I would still say hell yeah go get 'em. If he plays like he did in the past couple years. He would be the 2nd best player on our team behind Buehrle.
