  1. Honestly the only trade rumors I believe are the ones that were reported finished and got hung up in ownership (ala garland/erstad and griffey in 05)
  2. I have a hard time believing the team should do anything except ride this core into the ground. Championships are everything, and I'd much rather they try to suck every cup possible from this unit than do a better job prepping for 5 years from now. There are a lot of good teams in the NHL, a lot of rosters I look at and say "wow, they look great". But the Hawks keep winning. This core has that something, you gotta ride with it, deal with the rest as it comes.
  3. I think the basic question is should the government be working toward making voting as accessible and efficient as possible for its eligible citizens. To me that answer is yes. Mobile service sucks. You have to be available during the time it's there and cannot plan on going to a set place. I'd like to see the response if the government was going out of its way to make paying taxes harder what the response would be here when it's affecting you. There's been so much research on behavioral economics, and it's been pretty widely accepted how the smallest deterrant can have huge effects on participation. If you believe the government should be promoting voting, it seems crazy to add more deterrants to the process. This is just justifying something because you don't like the people complaining about the problem.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 08:13 AM) Thanks, bmags! It looks like that theme you found could be useful for nearly everything I want to do, with some tweaking (which I can do). The ability to select a spot on a map and get pick up the geo-location data is an open question, but i can search for that type of tool online by itself. I appreciate your help! Of course, I also need to deal with the database issue. When it comes to web applications and code interfacing with a true database, I just don't have that experience. Yeah, before you purchase it ask the creators of the themes on the forums. They can usually point you in the right direction. if they can't, that's a sign you are buying something that will not be supported long. The database, you'll have to see. My impression would be with a real estate theme they are allowing data to be uploaded through csv or json or something. You can see if that would flow the other way.
  5. Also best of the year: Really enjoyed John Danks 1-0 victory over the Orioles which featured a great defensive game by sox. It was a fireworks game and the atmosphere with all of the kids there was great.
  6. Cali what an awesome observation. I'm excited to see where this goes.
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 08:23 AM) Why would anyone that has his family less than two hours away, choose to stay in a hotel room for 6 months out of the year? He could get a driver, it's just the daily commute that he's tired of taking. Plus, Chicago, while a nice city, is not an old person's city. 1) nobody has said he would stay in chicago for 6 months straight. 2) You are arguing as if the only two options are him staying at home for 12 months or being in a hotel in chicago for six. That is not hte scenario. It's why would he fly all over the country for away games rather than "travel" to chicago for only home series.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 08:53 AM) The White Sox have a long term sweetheart lease and have been one of the most profitable teams in baseball the last 25 years. THEY AREN'T GOING TO MOVE. And that deal ends in 2029 and there is no chance anything close to that happens again. I'm not looking forward to that stadium fight.
  9. Honestly this kind of terrifies me. For all we talk about wanting Reinsdorf to step down, I think it's more likely we find an owner try to buy that wants to move us than one that brings in a great new baseball system.
  10. I would be secretly excited about Alex Gordon, somehow ridding ourselves of Melky and rolling with Gordon/Trayce/Eaton in the outfield. I also recognize it would not be a good idea. But I have outfield seats and that would be fun to watch.
  11. I think I'm leaning toward the following "take it on the chin" line up for next year C - Flowers 1b - Abreu 2b - Micah SS - Carlos (still realistic?) 3b - Saladino/Olt OF - Melky OF - Eaton/Trayce OF - Avi/Trayce DH - LaRoche/Avi P- Sale P - Q P - Rodon P - EJ P - Danks It would be rough, but best case scenario you can pull a mets like season and go for it. Realistically it tops out at 78 wins. The next year Anderson is there, Fulmer is there, and you have another year of top ten trade talent.
  12. Jonathan LuCroy for Micah Johnson and Avi Garcia is not even close to real.
  13. I see no reason (aside from trading for hitting) that we don't just roll with Sale Q Rodon Danks Erik Johnson
  14. You can look at something like this and see how far you can stretch it. Good luck. I hate php and bootstrap. http://themeforest.net/item/javo-home-real...review/12590130
  15. Are you going to be doing a .com template? If not, which I'd recommend if you are doing something more sophisticated here, there are going to be plenty of options to do this. Go knock around themeforest.org and look at various themes with forms/maps. Some of the real estate ones may have what you are looking for. But this does take some basic know-how of hosting on something like wpengine. "sometimes click a location on a map for that part as well" - This may be needlessly difficult. You can probably narrow down a droplist for users with some information.
  16. I saw Sicario this weekend. Even though I think the movie aimed to make a point about our meddling and moral ambiguity... I get very uncomfortable with how hollywood continues to portray torture scenes as something badass men who need to do get something done...do. But I support Emily Blunt as an action star so go see it.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 11:58 AM) He hangs out in the hotel and takes the team bus to the game. Much better than driving 4 hours a day. If anything, keeping a 74 year old off the road 4 hours a day is probably a positive for anyone else on the road. In my post you quoted I said why doesn't he just get a place to stay in the city for home games. You are avoiding the time zone issues and aren't forced to eat out all the time.
  18. QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 12:01 PM) Oh and I would be a lot more surprised if Thompson is hitting .270/.340/.400 at the end of next April than I would be if he was 2-38. I'm no longer surprised at any of our hitters being 2-38 in April.
  19. Listen, here's the reality: There are 2 outfield spots that have players you can upgrade over with dynamic talent. You don't hold their spots for them. But if you can't upgrade without spending $200 million on a player on the wrong side of 30 who will almost certainly have the worst year of their career as a member of the white sox, then I would rather roll with a better defensive outfield with Trayce Thompson than going on with the Avi Garcia project. Getting our pitchers ERAs closer to their FIP would be helpful to flip some of them or help us win games. Believing Trayce should be a part of the team next year does not mean you believe he'll be an all star. BUt we have very crappy players.
  20. Glad everyone else thought it was weird that road games were easier. Couldn't he just get a hotel in Chicago for a home series? Same...kinda thing right?
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 11:34 AM) When it gets down there, it's not much different. If Trayce is a .230 hitter, those who think the Sox need to build around him now will be calling for his head. Well, sorry Trayce. You aren't going to start next year because if you fail I may to say that you shouldn't be starting, which is very bad because the worst thing in the world is to re-align your views based off more information!
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 11:14 AM) 134 PA is not a lot to go on. Look at Viciedo's at a much younger age. What I don't get is the posts that say, "I don't care if he hits .230, his defense in CF...". Yes, they do care if he hits .230. Brian Anderson was advanced stat-wise one of the greatest CFs defensively who ever lived in 2006, and he hit .225, and he wound up benched, and everyone cared he hit .225 even though the team had an offense that could cover .225 a heck of a lot better than the 2016 White Sox unless Hahn has the greatest winter ever, and everything goes more than right next year with the bats. There's a difference there. 1) Anderson's defense was more valuable than Mackowiak but anyway Anderson did not hit for power that year. I think people are assuming Trayce would be closer to 18-20 HR power, and with more than the 1 triple Anderson accomplished.
