  1. HEre's my final hope. The sixers split 1/2 with the celts, and then win a game against the Heat 2nd string. Yes, the heat 2nd string is better than the Dleague sixers but they may get hot, and I'll win the bet on the last day.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 10:43 PM) Favorite by the media maybe. I guess but Steve Stone was pretty unequivocal when he said Jones would be the starter, so I was surprised with Lindstrom.
  3. If the things that prevent us from being a good team are not the failures of the young talent we acquired, but underperforming veteran relievers or AAAA pitchers, then I will be able to watch this season happily.
  4. All Semien does is walk, home run and strike out. I'm sick of this Adam Dunn retread./green
  5. Came back against a great closer to tie it up and you'd think the team just killed puppies on the field.
  6. I never go to games in April unless I'm going for free and am begged. There are 8 football home games a year, 2 of those may be really cold. There are 6-7x that many in april.
  7. It took 3 relievers but we finally have 1 out.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 09:20 PM) Ummm...California is pretty disasterous in its own right. Their issues have been in their legislature, Davis, Schwarzenegger, Brown, they'd all run circles around Illinois in that time.
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 06:00 AM) Fun Noah stat from NBA.com player tracking: He averages more passes per game than everyone in the NBA other than Kemba Walker, Rajon Rondo, Chris Paul, John Wall, Kyle Lowry, Ricky Rubio, and Josh McRoberts (the official poor man's Joakim Noah) I love how Noah turned up his game just after Bernstein started that idiotic meme that he only was good against garbage centers.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 05:31 PM) It would be strange having the Bank of Montreal's name on a Chicago ballpark. I guess, but they already have identity issues being that they are a Toronto bank. The MO is just a legacy at this point, but meaningless.
  11. QUOTE (maki @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 04:58 PM) Agreed, but no chance at that, given BMO is doing everything they can to re-brand BMO Harris as BMO only. My guess is the Harris portion of the name has a limited lifespan at this point, certainly under 5 years. BMO is logical, but are we just going to have an acronym? That'd suck. It's pronounced Bee-Mo so that's not bad as far as I'm concerned. Not like TCF field or something.
  12. I know all are close but I'm not sure I could place Davis on the third team. He's been ridiculous. Edit: for clarity, I'd place him higher.
  13. I'm not sure I can endorse this usage of fluffing.
  14. Oh, forgot about that. Last time I actually watched draft was 05 I think to see where Mike Bowden would get drafted.
  15. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Apr 1, 2014 -> 08:22 PM) Agree. Take a scenario where Rodon and Kolek go 1 and 2. You call up Hoffman, Aiken, and Beede and make an offer, the one that takes it is your pick. Then in the second round you use the extra money to sign a guy that slipped like Toussaint, Max Petencost, Derek Fisher or Braxton Davidson. Is there enough time to do this?

    2014 TV thread

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 1, 2014 -> 09:02 PM) Like you said, it's a network comedy, not a detective murder mystery. They had a plan in season 1, but as time progressed they could have altered their thinking as the show developed differently. They didn't need to have the awkward scene with the kids and instead the mother could have lived or something else. I think after season 5, around when I stopped watching, they should have just quit with the idea that he was actually telling his kids anything. Just stopped, no explanation. There are a lot of gimmicks network tv shows begin with as an interesting idea to get on TV that don't necessarily lend themselves to multiple season commitments. For instance, the office, at some point nobody really remembered that this crew was "filming a documentary". Eventually that was just a style, and occasionally they'd nod to it. Now that show went off the rails in its own way, but it would have been severely restricted if they kept to that. Jim could have never left the scranton office. At some point they could have pivoted narrators to freshen it up. How I met your Mother would have been a general theme about looking back to their younger days.
  17. Agreed. Considering our circumstances, if he can get a nice enough save % rate he would be very attractive to x competitive team with injured closer at mid-year. Let's get Jones and Webb experience getting out of stressful innings before they take over.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 1, 2014 -> 04:02 PM) Funny how you can change one words - the name - yet everything remains the same. It'd be real nice if it held true. (to be fair, Thomas did have a really long swing, so it's not completely true, but whatever) I was thinking about this, most of my Thomas memories are from 02 and beyond where he began changing his swing for fences. Seemed long then but I thought he had a short and quick route through the 90s. Sucks being young in the 90s as Jordan in Basketball and Thomas in baseball were destroying records. I remember it but don't remember it.
