QUOTE (Texsox @ Feb 11, 2009 -> 07:15 PM) I thought I knew what most of these government agencies did, until I had to research a couple. I'm not certain if I necessarily agree with the scope of what they are tasked with, but most are pretty damn amazing with all they do. I'm learning about the FDA in my drugs and behavior class, it's a pretty astounding level of trust with the public they are in charge of. That said I know less of USDA, but if they can merge and work better, that would be a good thing. But, I'd like to see a report on it.

Jonathan Rosenbaum is coming to our local theater next tuesday and they are showing this Orson Welles tv pilot or something. I hope I'll be able to go.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 10, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) We know that Charlotte and Birmingham are going to be good. I just hope somebody can help Danks 2 hold down the fort with the Purple Phallus.

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 10, 2009 -> 04:22 PM) No cheer really loudly, collect your coats and walk out the door. Then engage in crazy orgy style celebrations with tons of celebratory alcohol. We can do both, it's called walking and smashing box at the same time. that was sexist. -

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 10, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) So your best bball team in 7 years beat our worst bball team in 7 years on a miracle running jumper and you act like you won the national championship. I am sorry but for a program to bo batty over likely going to the tourney sounds a bit IL STate like. I stand corrected, KU did rush the court after we won the whole damn thing last year. yes. 'Miracle'. IL St. sounds about right. Should we have thrown alamo's on the court. Would that have been the classy KU fan who expects so much?!?! I'm just happy our players didn't whip out a pistol. I'd rush the court over that. -
QUOTE (Texsox @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 09:29 PM) Burris was not oblivious to the potential battle he was getting into. I go with courage on this one. And I really don't think he enhances Blago's legacy in any way. Not oblivious that there was a battle, oblivious to why. "I'm clean, I'm old, I did a completely mediocre job, what's wrong with me taking the seat from a criminal the entire state is waiting with baited breath to leave?" Oblivious. Stupid. Mediocre. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 10, 2009 -> 05:02 PM) This was Mizzou's Super Bowl. Oh please. I saw KU fans watching with passive indifference when they beat us in football this year. edit: DO YOU REALIZE HOW BAD OUR BASKETBALL HAS BEEN!! it hasn't been just a bad team the past two years, it's been a freaking shooting with our players every weeks, brawls at athena transfers etc. etc. So yes, we are excited we are likely going to the tournament. -
No Age is so awesome. I still find songs on nouns a year later to fall in love with.

QUOTE (longshot7 @ Feb 10, 2009 -> 12:14 AM) Ingmar Bergman is my favorite director of all time, and he's Swedish. You'd be doing yourself a favor if you saw Seventh Seal, Wild Strawberries, or Persona. Haha, you're right, totally forgot about that. I've seen Seventh Seal already. Awesome film. Let the right one in, HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 09:38 PM) I wasn't blaming Rhianna at all, he definitely shouldn't of laid hands on her. He forgot that he was Chris Brown superstar and not Chris Brown some dude from Virginia. it would be unacceptable in either description.

fine line between courage and obliviousness

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 09:35 PM) I read somewhere recently that Senators are re-elected at a ridiculously high rate no matter how good or bad they're perceived to be. Somewhere around 94% if I recall correctly. Just look at Ted Stevens. EDIT: I was referring to the number of times Stevens was re-elected. Almost forgot he recently lost. Stevens was considered a very good senator for how much money he got for Alaska and influence he had for such a small state in terms of pop.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 08:10 PM) Betrayed the trust of his constituents? When? How does he betray it if he never has it in the first place, for reasons he can't control? Anyone who's running for elected office is acting out of self-interest. Anyone. Are you kidding? If he wanted it so bad, and his years as a mediocre AG who killed innocent people on death row were so great and attractive to become a senator, why not wait for Blago to be impeached then ask PQ for the nomination. But instead he gave this gov. that we all hated, had embarrassed the state, by accepting, gave that gov. more of a platform, more of a voice, and more of a legacy. It isn't that hard to figure out.
-
I can't hate a 72 year old who acted completely selfishly and betrayed the trust of his constituents? That makes sense.
-
Because he accepted the Senate nomination and acted like everyone was crazy for thinking that was a big deal. Because as long as he's around Blago still has a legacy. Because he is so arrogant he thinks that he deserves things.
