  1. i mean pete doherty gives me a chuckle every once in a while...but i remember some oasis doc that i was just laughing my ass off. I can't really think of any americans who've been brash in that way... by the way...just got jorge ben - africa brasil ... very good, well worth the praise. I wish i had it earlier for the summer.
  2. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) I remember Kingdom Come, unfortunately, but Oasis always talked about the Beatles, usually boasting (kidding or not, who knows?) that they were better or more original or some such bull"spiff" . oasis interviews were awesomely entertaining, pop rock right now is missing any engaging personalities right now. They are all boring suburbanites.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) You're into fishing? I, myself, was supposed to go to Alaska by myself again to stay with my godfather and his family and do some salmon fishing/ocean fishing but that fell through. i enjoy fishing but i wouldn't consider it a hobby. I really don't know anything about it i just do it every once in a while.
  4. yeah i doubt this trade is goin down. if nothing by tomorrow we call all start talking about eric chavez. blow us some smoke timmy!
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) Bmac moving into the rotation will free up 10 to 12 million a year. It wont be Joe going, more like something of the spicy latin flavor. good point i'm just talkin cause theres not much else to say on this until Sportscenter totally tells us some stuff i've already heard.
  6. we'd be replacin a cheap LF with a high priced LF, when we were gonna replace a cheap LF with a cheap LF (fields)...and it seems that money woulda went to crede. I mean our budget will 'splode
  7. if we resign Soriano, does that mean crede gone.
  8. this thread was entirely neccessary.
  9. this just kind of screams to me that mccarthy will be in the deal. actually it screams to me that this deal won't happen.
  10. since when are we the devil rays...scared to trade 'spects... i don't believe for a second that there is an untouchable in our farm system when we are trying to win a WS

  13. but to give away soriano for 2 players the other team doesn't want... I mean, my god has the baseball market gone down so much? Surely if thats true they would get a prospect as well, of broadway calibur?
  14. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) Who did those clowns say would be shipped out? Vazquez and pods lol
  15. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) haha yea. i get excited thinking about macD pitching.when he was healthy, he was real tough on the sox. i remember the sox trying to bunt off him and couldnt, he has so much movement on his pitches, it would just be poped up. sox trying to bunt and couldn't...sounds oddly familiar.
  16. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:43 PM) He may, but we won't give it to him. I think KW's under some tight salary constraints, including how various contracts compare to each other within the team. Do you think they are going to pay a guy like Soriano more than the team captain? I don't. For the same reason, he wouldn't go any higher on Contreras. If the trade price is low enough, we might make a deal with the hope of signing Soriano or getting draft picks if he walks. Then the hope would be that he likes the team well enough to give us a discount. JR has continued to suprise us with our budget, however. But, i do see what you mean now. I, admittedly, would love this deal, if the participants that mac, jurko, and harry mentioned would truly be those men being shipped off. So i may be a bit starry eyed at being realistic right now.
  17. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:42 PM) in a huge ball park, in the same season where he's got a great shot to be only the 4th 40/40 guy in the history of major league baseball. and he...uh... yeah i can't top it off anymore.
  18. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) He certainly hasn't done much to justify keeping him up with the Sox. Although I think he'll be good down the road. oh i know...i just have a friend in the minors, i'd imagine its pretty crushing, everytime you get called down you don't know if you'll ever get a shot to come back up.
  19. QUOTE(Misplaced_Sox @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:38 PM) Why bat Soriano leadoff? That's alot of wasted RBI action with the HR's and his power imho.... better to bat him second and have Iguchi, BA or Uribe in at #1... why waste his bat? BA OR URIBE!??!? QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) thinks he will command? He'll get Konerko money... maybe more seriously, he's a young dude who went nuts and hit fifty home runs in a sad lineup.
  20. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:37 PM) I can't imagine that the market for soriano is so dry that he would resort to this deal seriously, that would be highway robbery. To me that kinda sounds like maybe the radio was shootin out a long shot just to maybe keep people listening.
  21. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) The delusion may be there, but certainly not in the White Sox organization. yes, but the white sox aren't trading for pods. I'm saying if we got Alf and still had pods, could we not give the illusion that we still could use pods for CF and were clearing our BA problem? And then shop pods as trying to get some BP help. And besides, considering spods low contract...i still think we could get a decent return even if its dump. Maybe not a guy to help us now, but perhaps a future major leaguer
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:28 PM) If we got Soriano, he would be the new leadoff hitter. i know, i was thinking more along the lines of the people saying we were moving pods to other teams.
  23. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:29 PM) I think if the Sox are going to trade Pods, they should try to get a deal set up before acquiring Soriano. I would think Pods' value would decrease if other teams know we need to dump him. Who could be interested in Pods? i mean tech. it wouldn't be a given that pods would have to leave. Isn't there still delusion around the league that pods speed can work in CF?
