  1. guys i know we are all excited...but if we are already assuming that thornton will be solid based off of his first outing, then are we gonna assume politte is gonna be trash? Bmac looked so confident out there today. He deserves to be starting but damn it's gonna be nice to have him in the pen. Having him there and succeeding certainly helps our bullpen look a little nicer.
  2. guys i think the walks had to do more with their pitchers beeing nowhere near the plate. It was like the rebirth of miguel asencio out there...
  3. borchard hit it 5000 feet! /ereanfgsgreen
  4. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 02:19 AM) Did you know that the refs were conspiring to make Illinois and all the other Big 10 teams lose in the NCAA Tournament? Its true! ghaahhah
  5. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 02:06 AM) anyone have any updates on cc sabathia? just curious on how long hes injured or whats wrong etc. his arm injury was probably the first sign of a heart attack
  6. boo steroids... come on BBT you know you just wanna suck off the white sox the whole episode!
  7. apparantly the indians didn't lose Kevin Millwood!
  8. does espn2 like choosing terrible music?
  9. i've been here a lot less than my time joined...i wonder when i actually started posting...i don't know when i left whitesox.com's message boards. But i remember perodically checking in those.. OMG ITS ON ESPN 2 sndogshdfioashejrfklaefjl;
  10. i'm checkin in from mizzou...i got my hat on and my world champion shot glass filled with tequila to be taken at the first pitch. This tradition is a first for me...but hopefully it will work.
  11. two awesome threads...soxtalk is ready for the season...
  12. i just want to chime in that this was a really interesting thread...i can see both sides and i'd say i agree i wish we would have gotten another arm for our bullpen, but i can see it working out like balta said. I guess i just have to trust cooper and KW to take care of anything that breaks. They have my confidence and my world series ring (not mine but you know...parallelism)
  13. QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 09:02 PM) I have a couple of issues with this deal: 1. God bless Contreras for what he did for us down the stretch, and in the playoffs, last year, but remember that the guy has had one good HALF season in the majors. He was absolutely awful with the Yankees, and barely mediocre from mid '04 to mid '05 with the Sox. 2. Contreras is listed at 34 years old but we all know El Duque had himself 4 years younger than he really was. If that's the common practice with the Cubans, then Contreras is 38. We just locked him up till age 42. Yikes. 3. Buerhle is only 27 and has had 5 good seaons with the Sox (as opposed to one half). He is the true ace (and face) of this team. I realize we have him locked up for 2 years, but he'll still be only 29 at that point. Why not lock him up long term now, instead of committing all that money to Contreras? This is assuming, of course, that Kenny hasn't been trying to do this all along. I hope he has. I'm not trying to be negative, just looking at the devil's advocate side of things. Contreras was the man for us last year, but to me he hasn't proved enough to warrant this extension. Just my two cents. I take issue with your first point, contreras had a tough month but his run support for the first half was absolutely terrible, i don't htink we scored more than three runs in a bunch of his starts and he kept getting no decisions, he threw a masterful game against the indians last year, left with a 5-2 lead, and shingo gave up 3 hrs in the ninth! His ERA was pretty damn good from april-may and much more deserving than his record showed.

    Young Gun

YG's a good kid... good to see you here again.
  17. you saw them live? Lucky bastard, i've been trying to find that live vinyl for a couple months now...i hate ebay so no to that. Thats so cool. I don't know if i've mentioned this yet but Jose` Gonzales' cover of Love will tear us apart is pretty good ...so many terrible covers of that song (square pusher LOL) that he really seemed to nail it.
  18. QUOTE(DePloderer @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) I'd have to go with Closer, Heart and Soul and Isolation are tops. closer was the first JD album i heard and as soon as the drums came on in Atrocity exhibition i was hooked.
  19. QUOTE(DePloderer @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 07:23 PM) Illustrating the state of Curtis's mind he changed the bands name from Warsaw (this came from the track of the same name on Bowie's album Low) to Joy Division after reading about Nazi concentration camps, where groups of females were kept especially for the "entertainment" of the guards. These poor ladies were collectively known as the Joy Division. From time to time the name change to New Order has caused the band some trouble, with minority groups believing the band had leanings towards Fascism. Something constantly denied by the band. sweet... haha, they were fascists... DePloderer, which do you prefer, closer or unknown pleasures. I think i'd like warsaw the best if the sound quality didn't bite the dust.
  20. QUOTE(DePloderer @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 03:48 PM) Trivia Time Can anyone tell me where they got the name Joy Division from? i could totally google this but i'll just guess there was some gay french government division of jo.y... hehe, i'm laughing at how terrible a guess that is. it could only be correct. Shame ian curtis killed himself. I never could get into new order
  21. QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 01:17 AM) Love Will Tear Us Apart is one of my all-time favorite songs. It's between that and transmission for my all time favorite Joy Division song.
  22. QUOTE(DePloderer @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) Didn't want to be too hard on you mate. oh yeah...um...just in case that came out the wrong way...when me and my friends get caught up in a stupid statement we act like we jump through the window (ala superman) to get out of trouble... Speaking of older stuff... I just got the joy division box set. its so depressing
  23. QUOTE(DePloderer @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 09:51 PM) Come on Bmags, it might not be as good as their first album, but The Second Coming was their second album. Ian Brown (lead singer) released a "Best of" of all his solo stuff late last year. Where is the jump through the window emoticon?
  24. if the players start having trouble with ozzies attitude...i think its the players that should leave...cause clearly it won't be the ones who got us a title that will have problems with ozzie. Ozzie may be abbrasive...but he's honest. And any sports player should respect that.
