QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) Due to adiabatic decompression and cooling, when you have elevation gradients of a few thousand feet and a rainstorm hits, you can get snow at the top of a range and rain at the bottom...and based on the ambient temperature, you can figure out what level the snow will turn into rain. The weather forecasters out here usually give you the level that the snow will start turning into rain. The colder it is, the lower it goes. wow, where do you live? Furthermore...the rain got through my open window and soaked my bed but i didn't notice because jack bauer is regulating.
  3. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) Sandbox Automatic is pretty much the top internet site for hip hop: Sandbox Automatic The only problem is that they're kind of slow to get orders out. i owe you one. I have to wait for my paycheck, so i might not get it for a while but when i do i'll def. let you know.
  4. QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 10:17 PM) I think you're overreacting. Common's BE was great, Little Brother, Blackalicious. There's still good hip hop out. EDIT: I highly recommend People Under The Stairs if you're looking for good hip hop. and Edan! damn i love edan. Rock and Roll was so great...a hip hop song with references to Velvet Underground. I love that guy. Plus his album cover was sweet.
  5. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 10:12 PM) I love early KMD (1990-1992) and Madlib (1993-2002) is one of my favorite producers of all time, but I can't put up with any of the stuff that they've been releasing nowadays. When Madlib fell off in 2002, I pretty much stopped listening to any new hip hop & I started focusing on dub reggae (1973-1975) and various other forms of reggae (soul, roots, etc). granted The mouse and the Mask was the so infinitely terrible...but madlib and mf doom just works madlibs ADD, mf dooms flow. Quasimoto pipin in. It'll be classic. and Cannibal Ox, i totally forgot they are coming out with a new album this year. I can't wait. ONe of the few hip hop acts with lyrics that matter. and what happened to saul williams? Where is that guy.
  6. that Cintron will replace Timo as the whipping boy. Both were traded for in spring training for flailing AAA pitchers. By all accounts Cintron is more talented*, but i think he will be it. More like Cintwrong, amiright? *impossible not to be true.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 10:08 PM) Actually hailed here yesterday too. There's talk of snow all the way down to 1000 feet today. That happens...i'll have an entertaining view from my window (looks right out onto the highway) what does "all the way down to 1000 feet" mean? and Am i stupid enough to have read that and thought you meant it will snow 1000 feet? Yes i am.
  8. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) Dude, why are you even bothering with hip hop from this year? The genre has been dead since the late 90s. Do you have the Krown Rulers repress from 1988? I tracked down their album on cassette back in the mid-90s, and I eventually got the original wax (appeared to be mint but with pops and clicks everywhere and s***ty sound due to tracks truncated on a single record). It has finally been repressed! That is the one you want, man. Seriously, run (don't walk) to sandbox automatic and pick that up. If Rakim is your favorite, you'll want to give me oral sex after hearing the "Paper Chase" LP. 1. I love MF Doom 2. No, where is this "sandbox automatic?" is it a place, or am i just lame. 3. Um...i'm a man. well...i'm a male at least.
  9. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 10:03 PM) Yeah, the Genius album from 1991 and some of his verses on the Wu Tang debut are amazing, but otherwise, it's for the kiddies. I can't figure out who is more pathetic: Raekwon or Ghostface Killah? All of their lyrics were inspired by mafia movies. They suck hard. But RZA is a legendary producer, so maybe you like the beats first and foremost. I have the instrumental LP for their first album (limited to only 100 copies I think), and it's unbelievably good. blasphemy blasphemy, Gza's liquid swords is fantastic, Ghostface Killah has the best flow and rhyme schemes of anyone solo from Wu Tang, and on this album he raps about being beaten as a kid. i wish i had that. I only go to one record store here in mizzou...it's great for gems like the Sonic youth SYRs and stuff but its hip hop selection sucks. Ill look in vain for that. i love the mixing of the kung fu...
  10. QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) What about Lil Wayne? I don't consider "back that thang up" and "go dj" hip hop classics... i don't bother with his stuff during cash money millionaires but tha carter is a great great album.

  13. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) I am very confused by you, bmags. That Wu Tang/Goodie Mob crap is cool if you're like 12 years old.....maybe. I'd be interested in seeing a Top 10 list of your favorite hip hop artists/albums from 1983 to 2000. You know, just so I could see where your head is at. i said if you want to here good stuff from this YEAR man... i don't care...i've listened to wutang since like 4th grade...haha, kinda awful...but you know Eric B. and Rakim are my all time favorites.
  14. QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 06:14 PM) I agree with ghost, but definitley not lil wayne and not really cee lo...but that's my opinion. just wait man, i swear cee lo and danger mouse will be great....like half the songs have leaked and the gnarls barkley album are gonna be pretty solid.
  15. QUOTE(3E8 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 07:43 AM) You think wrong my friend. I still think i'm right either way he's a gimmick hey i'm a hasidic jew rapping in a dialect that i'sn't my own to gain record sales in the likes of other fake rappers like sean paul and shaggy god damn guys ... listen to lil wayne, ghostface, and cee lo this yaer if you want to hear hip hop
  16. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 04:08 AM) Duh, now I get the teenege girl reference. Yeah, see? I've heard a bit of music from a band in a recent dacade and I'm so proud of myself. Then it turns out everyone who isn't a 14 year old girl agrees they suck. [/crawls back under his culture rock] haha, you're my boy flaxx don't worry
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 04:03 AM) What the hell. I am attached to Matisyahu and I am not even Jewish... i think he's a converted jew. So he basically rips off everything.lolz
  18. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 01:16 AM) That was the point. whoa whoa whoa, i will not sit here and let somebody claim yellowcard is a good band.
  19. QUOTE(WCSox @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 08:48 PM) political hack journalists who illegally obtain and release classified information aren't going to get my support. Something tells me that the Founding Fathers didn't intend for the Constitution to protect criminal behavior at the expense of law-abiding citizens. you're right, political hack politicians that classify their illegal activities will get your full fledged support, though! VIVA LA LEMMING
  20. PFM fest and Intonation are both gonna rawk. And only 65 for both. Thats like a one day at lolla babay!
  21. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 05:33 PM) You can find amazing house music all around Chicago, so no electronic music isn't a bad thing. And anyways, Mogwai is playing 5/19 @ The Metro, and Mogwai destroys everything. yeah i'm going ...! I was so thrilled when i realized i could look for chicago shows again. it is something to complain about because it was a nice change of pace at intonation last year. Prefuse 73 and Four Tet were great.
  22. yeah i was just about to report this... and f*** i hate pitchfork but damn! The P4k music festival has Spoon and Jens Lekman playing july 29-30. AND TED LEO! I'll prolly go to both seeing as they were so practical last year with so much shade, place to sit and was a great time. What's with the lack of electronica this year though?
  23. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 05:09 PM) I'm particularly fond of a few of them. As far as Listening to them Speak and reading their Speeches and that sort of thing, I'm fond of Scalia. I think he's a Monster of a Man and I despise nearly everything he stands for, but his sense of humor and sharp wits make him worthy of attention. "Some people urge a Moderate reading of the Constitution. What is that, really? Halfway between what is says and what you wish that it said?" I agree with him moderately! but I find things like that funnier than anything else. I'm fond of David Souter, but that may just be because of how much he pisses the Republicans off. I like John Roberts, because he's funny, fair and charming, I've found. Breyer is a nice, smart, able man, I think. John Paul Stevens is great. If he were half a century younger, I wish someone had made him Chief Justice. Clarence Thomas, Tony Kennedy and Sandra Day O'Connor are my least favorites. (Even though I know Sandy's gone.) Alito is up there, too, on my least liked, and so's Ginsburg. Ruth Bader just doesn't do it for me in any sense of the term. i agree...i don't like his rulings but his opinions are so much fun to read in my poli sci class. All the people on the court are so brilliant i have loads of respect for them.(unless thomas puts a pubic hair on my coke ! dammit!
  24. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 05:34 AM) what would have been the faults you brought up? the lack of depth, the silly argument shows that are so prevelent, instead of addressing the viewers that they got facts wrong on the first report they just change them on the next and act like nothing happened, the lack of watchdog status - no investigative reporting, despite the tool of 24 hours to educate the public and strengthen our democracy its like watching the 5 o clock news on repeat. Its business culture.
