  1. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 05:52 PM) Prog Rock is possibly the most hated style of music, just behind New Age. No matter how brilliant bands of that genre were, they are still usually laughed at. Prog bands are usually a little melodramatic. you are right. But i am on the side that laughs at it... especially coheed and cambria...
  2. QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 05:43 AM) Yeah, that's a great song, as is This Will Be Our Year. What a great album, not a bum cut. Best of the Zombies: She's Not There Tell Her No The Kind of Girl Leave Me Be Don't Cry For Me Whenever You're Ready Indication I Love You (pretty big cover hit for a group called People) You Make Me Feel So Good (covered by the Buckinghams) Time Of The Season Funny thing about the Zombies and the success of Oddessy & Oracle. That album came out in either late '68 or in '69 and the Zombies had broken up in '67. yeah i've read about that...their album cover for oddessy and oracle was classic.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 05:29 AM) exactly i'm pretty impressed with myself, considering, i'm in missouri and only heard it in sportscenter highlights
  4. QUOTE(Soxy @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 04:32 AM) Bake him some cookies. Or condoms, really you can't go wrong there. . . Although, and this might hint to my cheapness/general apathy towards relationships, I would probably never get someone a gift after only a month and I'd feel super uncomfortable if I received a gift under those conditions. (note: I'm a girl, so take that for what it's worth) whoa, for a second i thought this was for the 10 year old boy
  5. QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 04:53 AM) As a huge Zombies fan, yeah I do, but I'm admittedly predjudiced. They certainly had much more strong material than Percy Sledge and he's in based on one remarkable performance. i'm not familiar with the R&R hall of fame selections, i mean, odessey and oracle is one of my favorite albums of all time, i just wasn't sure what consistency there was in the selections. personally, i think the whole concept is stupid. One of my favorite songs is I want Her she wants me... beautiful
  6. QUOTE(3E8 @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) Anyone here heard of Matisyahu? Apparently I'm late to get on the bandwagon. He's a Hasidic Jew who does Reggae/Beat boxing. The lyrics aren't too deep but the sound is fun. www.hasidicreggae.com i avoided him because i hate fake jamaican accents, but i find some of his stuff eccentric
  7. QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 03:03 AM) The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is so stupid it makes me sick What a load of crap. I liked Blondie a lot and owned all their albums but do they deserve this before the Ventures, J. Geils Band, The Cars, Turtles, Zombies? One could go on and on. Miles Davis as great as he was has very very little to do with Rock and Roll. do you think the zombies had enough material to get in?
  8. bleachers were but 18 but like 3 years ago
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) I just saw that he avg'ed 150 games for the last 10 years excluding 2005. Thats promising. The opening day game will be interesting. and your sig quote from Rooney is inaccurate. yeah, wasn't it OUT OUT a White sox winner and a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

    Walk The Line

i think even if you don't like cash's music you like what he represented...but i don't know because i f***in love cash's music.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 11:17 PM) Don't forget David Wells's signing that same year. well, trade, but moot point.
  13. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 06:43 AM) Hell part of me is flat out excited that I'll get to see two different prospects develop next year (Bmac some more and BAnd). i hope BAnd doesn't catch on...
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) Hart is no longer the Texas GM. my neighbor at college's best friend is actually the brother the new Texas GM, i know that seems like a lot of connections but it was pretty cool when it was announced when he was talkin to the guy to congratulate him.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 02:45 AM) Id think Rich Hill and Angel Guzman would have to be part of the deal for the Rangers to consider it and I dont know why they would want Walker or Cedeno unless they plan to trade them right away for more pitching prospects. But if the Cubs can do that I think they will be a very good team.... maybe even better than us. seriously...that would be a crazy lineup...
  16. QUOTE(LDF @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) did you forget the royce clayton trade? who'd we give up for clayton again? Nobody worth mentioning anymore...just like clayton isn't worth mentioning anymore...like i said, theres only been one trade where the other team clearly got the better of us, well, two... Ritchie Foulke - koch is abominable, but at least we got one of the best lefty setup men in the bizzzz now. Durham - jon adkins... the summer of 02 def. sucked...we had tons of salary dumps with nothing in return... but i think the past 3 years, KW has done enough positive trades to earn his respect...
  17. loretta lynn, Chan Marshall (cat power), Nico
  18. when i first saw "jays sign bj ryan" i was thinking, good signing for them, not only do they add it to their team but take it away from the yankees...then i saw the price and i was really pissed. This completely drives the market up for all relievers...it was a pathetic amount...
  19. we have won trades, we won the marte trade, we won the Uribe trade, IMO we won the Garcia trade, we definately won the Contreras trade...KW has won a lot of his trades, he's only made 1 abominable one (Ritchie), one bad one (Wells, though due to sirotka being injured and we really lost no one, gained no one...wash i say), and add another one to the win column for Bartolo Colon. The rest were pretty fair (lee, thome, Blum)
  20. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) We dumped quite a bit of money in Frank ($8 million), Everett ($4 million), and Rowand ($2 million) who was due $3.25 million next season. yeah, but that would mean we should be under our amount before Kong...i can't believe we are already at the same amt. as last year
  21. QUOTE(LDF @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) you mention about a trade that is even for both, i would like to see kw get the best of any deal. granted that in the last several yrs has worked out, he still overpaid for them. you can't tell me kw had dye and others in mind when he was making trades. we got lucky. that being said, i will always say that i understood the trade and like the player we got in return with ref to scott and freddy and even thome, but i still think, at the time of the trade, we over paid for it. i think dye and others were exactly what we had in mind...Lee was a salary dump...which is why we didn't get as much in return...I don't need kenny to get the best of any deal, just that every deal he makes works out for us the way its supposed to...if it works out for us than i don't care what the other guy does. I don't care what lee did last year because Pods was so integral for our success this year..
  22. QUOTE(LDF @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) ok i will go back to my old argument, kw overpay in trade. granted freddy was a good pickup and i like it, but i thought he over paid with reed. in scott trade, i thought we didn't get enuf of a return, i know that scott was a huge part of our success, but look at the numbers that lee put up. i like the reasoning of getting thome, but did we have to give that much? kw get fixated in players he wants and will sweeten any deal to pull it off. not every trade has to be a steal...there is such a thing as a "fair trade" where it works out for both sides. The podsednik lee trade was one of em. You forget the all important point...podsednik, vizcaino, and PAYROLL flexibility that lead to a plethera of talent. You could not have gotten the most coveted young pitcher on the market at that time for just miguel olivo and mike morse...you have to realize that proven talent has more value than unproven talent...
  23. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 07:55 PM) well he is a FA, i wouldnt see any other reason for the Padres not to keep him. he is cheap, and a good bat off then bench i know i was just kidding around... i agree...and it was a point that turned this thread into something much more interesting.
  24. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) Price for production wise, I'm taking Crede. Rodriguez doesn't warrant his contract in my eyes. Rolen is good, but I don't know how he'll react after coming off of his injury. Beltre is as same of a question mark offensively as Crede. Cabrera is a nice 3B, but I don't know about his defense which this team is built on. Keep in mind I'm talking about in terms of this current team as well. If I'm starting a whole new team, it would go as follows: Chavez Rodriguez Cabrera Rolen Ramirez Crede Beltre i keep forgetting cabrera will be a 3b
