  1. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) I have to agree ChiSoxfn... Which is why I shudder at everyone who says to throw Juan Pierre out there... That being said I think Anderson will be at least decent in CF this year defensively... But he won't be Rowand... oh i think he'll be more than decend...if rowand was extraordinary, then brian anderson with his better arm can be more than Decent...
  2. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) We would never ever ever ever get Rodriguez. Plus he doesn't come through in the clutch at all, and he's not as good defensively as Joe Crede. Big-Time choker. I'd take Chavez since this team is built on pitching and defense and Chavez bring the defense and he brings better offense. Chavez > Rodriguez @ 3B. A-Rod no doubt is the better SS. well duh he's not available but you said you'd keep crede over any 3b not named chavez...hell, i'd take Rolen and rodriguez and chavez, i think we all have some short term memory for joe... all of the ALCS and WS
  3. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) I'm keeping Crede over anyplayer not named Chavez. RODRIGUEZ!?!?!?!?!
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 07:55 PM) Ya he made some strides, but I still need to see him do something for a full season before I label him near ready. My personal take is that Schnurstein is the sleeper in the org when it comes to 3rd base prospects. I really like his potential and I think he has a live bat. well, i was still living off of his 1st year stats (fields) which were pretty terrible...so those were more promising... schnursteins numbers were very nice...didn't he get stalled because of fields thou?
  5. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) because he is a FA that was about as good an answer as you could've given
  6. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) What about getting Mark Sweeney from the Padres, I belive he is a FA. He is mostly a 1B, but also has experiense at RF and LF, and about 4 innings in CF. I think he would be a good option off the bench. What do you think? yeah, but can he hit 14 inning home runs ?
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 07:35 PM) Which I believe is why he's got at least 2 more years in the minor leagues before he's ready...which is why the fact that we've got Crede arbitration-eligible can be quite useful. Crede holds down the fort very well while Fields readies himself, and Crede hits FA maybe a year after Fields is ready to come up, maybe even giving us the chance to use Crede as trade bait. We hope. alright, just read at future sox of josh fields loss off the field...and his adjustment in the second half...very encouraging...
  8. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 07:32 PM) He might still think about the cash he could get when he comes off of his 6th or 7th straight 40+ home run season. true...plus sponsorship deals... touche`
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) Maggs was the one who killed all negotiations with the Sox...that was his fault, no the sox. yeah, well thats why i feel this is different frankly, as a fairly young sox fan i haven't experienced that many instances of one of our superstars approaching free agency, with maggs we knew he was gone after he didn't take our before the season started offer...but with kong, considering that we have the resources to sign him, its a matter of how much he is worth, and is signing kong this year worth forfeiting 3 of our players in the upcoming years?
  10. QUOTE(JimH @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) Somebody on the site posted and showed his agent isn't Boras, can't recall who. I thought it was Boras too but I believe he's got someone else. Texiera has Boras. ooh, could we confirm this?! encouraging as regards to fields...isn't he still struggling MIGHTILY with K's?
  11. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) If they do get Konerko, then the typical dies, if they do not, I stand by my statement. We picked up a guy with a huge upside, coming off question marks, versus landing the guy coming off perhaps his best season. Cheaper with ?? - your expensive free agent = typical Sox move. Cheaper with ?? + your expensive free agent = New Era in Sox baseball move. i suppose your right, but i feel this is different because we actually have a chance with kong, rather than basically no chance with maggs, hell, well we didn't want him...I'd be very suprised if we don't sign him...but seriously 5 for 65 is ridiculous if he gets it...
  12. QUOTE(HoosierSox @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) Konerko has to be salivating at the possibility of having Thome in the lineup. Because of Thome he will see better pitches. Better pitches=More Home Runs. Come on Pauly. and more home runs = more money... but he's vying for the contract right now!
  13. QUOTE(JimH @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) Tex there's no such thing as "typical Sox" any more. They just won the World Series. You know, I know, the whole board knows they needed a big lefthanded bat since God knows when. They just got one, dealing from strength. Williams continues to say that Konerko is priority one, even stating he told Konerko he'd get a big lefthanded bat to protect him. The typical White Sox of the Bill Veeck eras wouldn't have acquired Thome, they would've rented him, let him go, cried poor, and then made millions selling the ball club. I'd tend to agree...i think KW is not a typical sox personnel...i think he's gonna get Konerko...i really think we can get him too...
  14. a standing ovation? Boy, canadians sure are polite

wow this is all incredible to me...they aren't even making profit off of this? Solely for name recognition? Incredible
  16. I saw we resign konerko... and i'm not sure why pierre is so coveted...i would've liked him after that WS in 03...but hell, i think i'd take Preston wilso over him now...actually no, not really.
  17. QUOTE(smalls2598 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 03:57 AM) Same here. So many good moments wrapped up in just 1 hour. What a special season. What a special team. man, i love those guys. i needed a blanket because i had chills the entire time... i wish we could've had more mic'd footage of our guys like Backe did..
  18. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 06:32 AM) .241/.379/.535 That right there is Jim Thome's ZiPS projection. Now, I know a lot of you guys aren't really thrilled with projection systems, and that's fine. Let's throw that to the side for a minute. Would you be happy if Thome posted this line? Do you expect more? I think I expect the BA to be closer to .270, but I like those OBP/SLG% numbers. I think the projection above is the floor of what Thome will do for us (so long as he's healthy). i wouldn't be that happy with that...he'd have to have some sick power numbers...hmm...i just realized i'm not sure what i'm reading...gawd, i'm a fraud...i've been posing like i knew these stat lines all along
  19. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 03:50 AM) I know. I was just using hindsight to show that many times prospects don't turn into the super studs that people think they will be. Kenny Williams makes out well on most of his trades. Aaron Miles for Juan Uribe Miguel Olivo, Jeremy Reed, and Michael Morse for Freddy Garcia Esteban Loaiza for Jose Contreras And Carlos Lee for Scott Podsednik and Luis Vizcaino worked out for both teams. and mike sirotka for david wells...worked out poorly for both teams... so he is a fair trader... I don't know, i love this trade cause we see Jim Thome in a sox uni, but honestly, the phils made out pretty well in this deal, i think this is pretty fair.
  20. QUOTE(hi8is @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 03:20 AM) "B.A. is a good player. He's going to be fine," said Rowand of Anderson. "He can hit. He plays defense. He plays the game the right way. Chicago fans and the White Sox are going to be happy to have him." god damn, it really is a sad day to see him go...
  21. I think i'm imagining this trade being so great because i feel we can still sign Kong...if we can't...its still a great trade, just that project lineup loses sumpum..
  22. i just read in the tribune today that the angels did not go as high as the 5 for 60 konerko and landis wanted
