  1. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) Actually saw a video for a song off I assume, their new record. Didn't make me want to listen to the rest, but maybe if I get my hands on it, I will. don't count em out until you hear B.R.M.C. "whatever happened to my rock n roll" is classic
  2. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Eh, finally heard BRMC, didn't hate it, but it didn't blow me over either. I'll look out for FF though. which album did you hear
  3. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 10:46 PM) The comparison I always read for BRMC is the Jesus & Mary Chain. I've never heard BRMC, so I ask you: Accurate? Or Not? i've never listened to jesus and mary chain...should i?
  4. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) Good luck, my taste is all over the place. I like to think of myself as an indie/undeground kinda guy, but when I hear something that really moves me, I don't give a s*** if it's on a TV commercial and has sold 50 million copies. Not familiar with 'The FF", tell me about them and about 'black rebel motorcycle club' though, people will not shut up about them. BRMC just play good rock and roll , dark night club rock and its a lot of fun. They put out an acoustic cd i really liked this year. their self titled is the best...really good pop hooks. The fiery furnace's debut had them compared to the white stripes, but their next album blueberry boat was just this out of left field, epic album with 10 minute songs...i love it. They are from grant park i believe...brother and a sister, but they added others recently
  5. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) Yes, yes, I'm not a fan of V.U. at all, and am respecting your being a fan. We've knocked heads over bands too much, and I think your musical opinions are too good to continue to battle. So, I respectfully choose to not say anything. You love 'em, you know your s*** in music, so rock on. eh, its funny, the times we've got in music arguments, they've turned out to be huge misunderstandings....the green day thread and the bob dylan thread come to mind...haha... losmediablancos - (i am still trying to gauge what you like and dislike) are you a fan of the fiery furnaces?
  6. is anyone into syd barrets solo stuff?
  7. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 04:27 AM) "If you can't say anything nice..." i hope your talking about you restraining yourself cause i didn't say anything mean
  8. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 02:48 AM) Thx B Mags. not sure what i did but you get the ole thumbs up
  9. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) It's better if I just stand back on Velvet... hmmm...that went over my head.
  10. QUOTE(Rich McKinney @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 01:35 AM) I thought you said this was a funny story? i thought it was funny
  11. QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) I pretty much agree with that much of what you said, especially concerning Paul's yell. He had a great one. so...anyways...beatles = 4 talented musicians. BUT...can we give some respect to the velvet underground... john cale's - 1919 in paris is better than any post beatles album of any of those 4
  12. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) Picked up the Sir Paul album in anticipation of seeing him on Saturday Listened to it once in the car on the way down to work (hour drive sucks). Very solid, very lyrical, really well produced, but a bit lacking in tempo changes and mood swings. Needs a few more listenings before I give a final grade, but I can see why it is getting pretty good reviews so far. Big Ed: I haven't had a chance to welcome you aboard, but how could you leave my hero Mr. Rundrgen off of the Rotating Ringo All Star roster?!? it was produced by nigel godrich, notably for his work with radiohead, beck, and pavement.
  13. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) I'll try to piece BJM together. I realized they have one song. One 20 minute song. One 20 minute song, that they play 8 times. Fun, but gets kinda tiring. Besides, their singer's insanity and 10 minute rants between songs get boring quickly. The High Dials were one of the openers. Very solid performers, with 2 records under their belt. eh, that sounds dissappointing... i just got a live unicorns show that sounded amazing...i still think they'll get back together but i'm anxious for islands.
  14. this velvet underground box set is amazing.
  15. thats strange because i thought it was pretty much consensus that george had the best stuff, i always considered this because he did not write songs for so long for the beatles he would've had the most to go with in a solo career because he had more to prove. ringo's stuff is just aweful to me.
  16. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 02:50 AM) Man I hate Wings. "It Don't Come Easy" blows any Paul song away. I think we can at least agree George is the best by far. In my opinion George>>>>>John>Paul>>>>>>>>>>Ringo
  17. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 02:43 AM) Thomas the Tank Engine > Wings your insane!
  18. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 02:06 AM) Worst post-Beatles career out of them all. worst then ringo? Give me a break
  19. QUOTE(bmags @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) sweet, i just got a neutral milk hotel live show and velvet underground box set!!!!

    QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:35 PM) Get over yourself bra. To disagree with their way of life is one thing, but, to purposely go out of one's way to bash them...whatever. Truth of the matter is you're belov'ed Illinois is home to the largest Greek system in the US. To be independant is almost to be in the minority. Greek life isn't all paddles and binge-drinking. ...and, I'm out. Have a good one. purposely bashing? What are you talking about...if someone acts like a jerk to you and you call them an asshole, thats not purposefully bashing, thats calling someone out. This was a mock piece on fraternities, nobody has been purposefully bashing fraternities. If we think they are stupid, so what, you had a good time right? But to say that we're jealous cause we aren't in a fraternity, is one of the most absurdly funny things in the world... and who cares if the majority of U of I is greek...that doesn't make them right. The majority of people do a lot of dumb things...like vote for bush.
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) I laughed. However, I am only in my 4th week, so ill get back to you in a few months. yeah that although i have some good ones from visiting my brothers in college...but those aren't appropriate at all for this message board.

    QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) nice generalization. If you read any of my post, you would understand that assuming makes an ass out of you. not really, being that you were in the same fraternity with them i'm sure they did help you out. But they are just assholes to the rest of human life. They are good for booze though, i'll give em that. But they do throw some awefully boring parties.

    QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) the frats here house 95% of the kind of people i'm not very fond of. well, i've met 3 nice frat guys, (out of 7000), and as much as the majority of them i do dislike, i dislike the greek system just as much.
