  1. http://wcco.com/sports/twins/joe.mauer.min....2.1462891.html Sources: Mauer, Twins Agree To 10-Year ContractMINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) Sources tell WCCO-TV's Mark Rosen that American League MVP Joe Mauer has come to a preliminary agreement with the Minnesota Twins for a 10-year contract extension. Mauer, 26, and the Twins had been pretty quiet about contract negotiations, while fans were eager to find out if their hometown hero would be staying put at last weekend's annual fan festival. This is Mauer's final year of his current contract and manager Ron Gardenhire said Friday he was confident that both sides would come together and strike a deal. Mauer's current salary this season is $12.5 million. Contract details about his new salary were not immediately released. Mauer became only the second catcher in 33 years to win the coveted AL MVP award, finishing first in an almost unanimous vote in November. Mauer set a major league record for highest batting average by a catcher and won his third batting title, becoming the first repeat batting champion since Nomar Garciaparra in 1999-00. He's been voted to the All-Star team three times and won his second straight AL Gold Glove award. Mauer was born in St. Paul and would've been a free agent after the 2010 season. Rosen will have all the latest details on WCCO 4 News at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

  4. Thanks for the advice guys... It sounds like I will go about getting tickets right off the Sox webpage. I am amazed at how much more expensive it is compared to Twins tickets. Granted the dome sux!

  6. Hey guys, a friend and I from Minnesota are coming down to see the sox vs. LAD on the 17th & 18th. I have never been to the cell, only went to old comiskey as a kid a few times being that i'm from MN. Do you have any good tips to get some decent tix for the 2 games without paying a ton. I think we are taking the train to the park, so no need for parking, just the tickets. Any advice would help! BTW....Pedro Gomez is going to talk about Ozzie tonight on Baseball Tonight.

    Moving to Chicago

hey, i dont know if you all can help me, but im a life long sox fan from minnesota. I am currently looking to move to chicago soon and have no clue about where to live. i dont know what areas are nice or not so nice. im looking for a 2 BR in a decent area but not spend a huge amount. anything would be helpful thanks
  8. As far as the Timo topic goes, he is decent for what we are asking, and i dont mind having a left handed bat on the bench, maybe a bit over payed at $1 mill. with the market over run with capable OF-ers. But, i think the key point here is that his money could have been better used. In example, AJP (man i hope we get him), or getting a utility middle infielder. We didnt need another average to below average fielding OF-er when we already have 6 capable major league OF-ers. (Borchard, Dye, Pods, Rowand, Escobar, Everett) ok, ok... Borchard really sucks, but he may wake up sometime. I think we should have focused on getting an IF-er rather than spending $1 mill on our number 7 OF-er
  9. I saw on ESPN that Perez just resign with the Dodgers for 3 years $24 million. I know the Sox have been out of that running for awhile now, but man the market for good starting pitchers is way to enflated. I can't belive what kind of cash these guys are bring in. Perez was only 7-6 with a 3.25 ERA. Not bad be any means, but not worth that kinda of cash IMO.
  10. Role Last April 2005 No. 1 starter Mark Buehrle Buehrle No. 2 starter Esteban Loaiza Freddy Garcia No. 3 starter Jon Garland Orlando Hernandez No. 4 starter Scott Schoeneweis Jose Contreras No. 5 starter Dan Wright Garland Closer Billy Koch Shingo Takatsu set-up man Cliff Politte Dustin Hermanson set-up man Damaso Marte Marte Middle relief Mike Jackson Luis Vizcaino Middle relief Jon Adkins Politte Long relief Neal Cotts Jason Grilli or Cotts Im sure you all saw this on ESPN, but here is our Pitching staff (so far). A deffinate upgrade from top to bottom.
  11. hey, im new on here... Even with the HUGE loss of Maggs in RF, I think this will be a much better team. I'm very happy with getting rid of "stone hands" Lee, and a big upgrade to the pen. If we can get AJP, we will be a very solid team...still neading a middle infielder. Problem: loudmouth AJP vs. loudmouth Everett :finger Flyer: I want Loaiza. Dead arm and all.... he could come at almost no cost. I say just get him at a minor league contract (no offers yet?) and see if he can fill long relief, or step in as an ALT #5 starter.
