    Schaller's Pump. Park on that street in front of it. Have parked there with my family forever and have never gotten a ticker or towed. It's about 10-15 minute walk to the stadium.

    Please just leave a spot for the locals who actually live across from Schallers...like me.

    You won't get a ticket or towed because it's free for a 1 or 2 block stretch.

    I just heard some guy call in to ESPN. He said it was written into the contract LaRoche signed to bring his kid to the clubhouse. Not sure how this guy knows that. Let's see what other stories come out.

    I gave AL the benefit of the doubt until this came out. LaRoche isn't holding up his end of the contract (to perform) so there is nothing wrong with the Sox asking him to dial back his son being there.

  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 02:43 PM)
    This spring he has been around all the time, but LaRoche has been hurt and unable to do anything anyway. The article I linked stated he had limited access during the season, and he played on a couple of teams so he wasn't around every game.

    This is just KW being KW. It shouldn't have been a surprise Drake LaRoche would be at spring training daily. He was last year as well. In the article it said LaRoche's wife and daughter don't come to AZ until about halfway through spring training. KW should have said something before spring training started. That's all I'm saying. It's obvious he is frustrated by LaRoche's performance/injury/whatever, and he took it out on the kid. I don't think it makes the White Sox evil at all. I do think it shows how petty KW can be.

    Not really sure how they took it out on the kid. He made a simple request to dial it back. He struggled last year, the team struggled last year, this is a business. It's his job, he quit the job because of a request.

    This summer we are probably driving down to Galveston Island with the kids. I can't wait.

    I'll be painfully honest with you in my opinion, I went to Galveston for a couple of hours once, it is a cesspool. Very trashy. It's like Wisconsin Dells and Gary, IN had a child and placed it by the ocean.

    I told my buddy (who resides in Houston) that I drove down there to check it out, he told me that I should get checked for AIDS.

    Of course, it's all relative but that's a big drive for you...and personally, i wouldn't drive there from Houston ever again.

    I have heard Kemah is very nice compared to Galveston.

  5. I went to a small school in the south suburbs, went to school full-time at night while working and paying off school full-time during the day, I even took classes on weekends to help my schedule during the week and I have a position with a Fortune 200 company. Maybe I am being bull-headed but everyone sees the costs (even the visible ones are astronomical) associated with going to these schools and room/board. Young adults also see that nobody is getting a job worth a damn. There are plenty of options out there that are more affordable. Work, go to school, network, meet people in your class, talk to teachers, succeed

    Probably a good question for Shack but looking for a nice steak dinner in Las Vegas, was thinking Vic and Anthony's and then hanging out around Fremont St for a night. Any opinions on that?

    Also, we're thinking of seeing a show, maybe cirque maybe a magic show. There's like 7 cirque shows going on it seems, I'm sure they are different but is there really a big difference in quality between them? Figured we'd look at the cheapest/most convenient option to our hotel.

    There are so many great steakhouses in town...honestly, just do some research on Trip Advisor, decide if you want on strip and off strip....then max out lol. Can't go wrong with most.

    The wife and I are thinking about heading to Hawaii this year. Probably looking to stay on one island for a beach vacation with the option to get some hiking and the like in.

    We're looking at a deal on the west side of Maui. I've never been to Hawaii and looking to see if anyone has opinions...

    I recommend at least 10 days in Hawaii. It's a big flight and the jetlag got to me (typically doesn't bother me), it's not a big deal to visit two island as they are a quick flight.

    If I had the chance to do it all over again, I would go to Kauai for an entire trip. The place is incredible and to me, embodies what Hawaii is all about. Lush greenery, amazing beaches perched alongside cliffs (North Shore) and one of the best hiking trails in the world, Kalalau Trail on the Napali Coast. Awesome food as well

    <!--quotec-->Jo was a great team rep and did so much for the city off the court. The steal and dunk while getting fouled vs Boston was the play of his career.

    The best.

    Can't believe that before that dunk, I couldn't stand Noah. After that, I loved him

    Good call on Carr.

    Basically, the big story to me in this boring as hell NFL season was:

    - The end of the QB elite: Peyton gone, Brees pretty much done for good. Rodgers with a down year. Brady was Brady

    - The second tier was bi-polar: Romo out. Rivers was back to garbage. Eli was not so great. Kaepernick went from future star to replaced by worst QB in league. Meanwhile, Newton, Wilson and Roethlisberger were fantastic. With Newton/Wilson possibly becoming new tier 1 QBs.

    But looks like the fresh blood with Bortles/Cousins/Mariota/Carr/Winston may have very bright years ahead.

    Cutler I think had a great year but not sure what tier he is. Kind of like the best of tier 3.

    Eli threw more TD's and had the highest QBR of any other season in his career.

    This thread has given us a list of about 15 new mexican food places we have to make a point to go to.

    You know how you get stuck going to the places you know are good and are familiar with?

    Cemitas Puebla in West Loop also great. Although much more expensive (of course) than their old spot on North Ave

    I must be confusing Xoco when I tried booking for Frontera.

    I have heard about Martinez in Bridgeport, its right by my parents house. I have yet to try them but I have to hit them up from some tacos. My brother claims they are best he has had.

    Martinez has a great Torta...the bread is great. I love their Pastor, they do carnitas on the weekend. Hidden gem for sure.

  12. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 24, 2015 -> 11:57 AM)
    I tried Xoco but they were booked to. That damn Bayless must put out some good food, jeez.

    XOCO does not take reservations but is completely different setup and layout than Fronto and Topolo, chances are you won't wait more than 30 minutes to eat. There is one right next to Frontera and Topolobampo. That is probably my most frequented restaurant in the city. The Ahogada in winter time is amazing. Great Margaratas, beer list, hot chocolate and amazing desserts (namely the churros). If you want a Bayless place, XOCO is simple and casual and awesome. Don't skip chips and Guac either

    If you want true down and dirty Mexican, Pilsen is your best bet. Nuevo Leon is the staple but there are some other local ones just as good if not better IMO. Sabor y Sazon and Carnitas Urupuan (if going during the day, the Carnitas are RIDICULOUS) are my two stops. A couple other hidden gems are Mary's tacqueria or Martinez Supermarket in Bridgeport (both are super casual Mexican in the back of a grocery store.) There are also a couple of churro spots you can stop by in Pilsen

    How many are in your group?

    My wife and I are going to San Juan PR next month for our fifth year wedding anniversary. Have you guys ever been there before? What is a must do/go/eat when you are there? What should we look out for as far as not doing or tourist trap type stuff?

    Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    I use TripAdvisor for restaurants now, Yelp is garbage. TripAdvisor has not let me down yet, they also give out "Certificates of Excellence" for certain restaurants (as well as hotels and things to do) for places that consistently get great reviews.

    A great tool.

  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 09:37 AM)
    Did not get to watch, but the vines from Curry last night were so much fun.

    One of my favorite Bill Simmons theories was how AAU ball has eliminated some of the more unique players because the same "successful" traits are hammered in early on.

    Curry to me is the player that breaks the mold. He just sees different angles on the court.

    This is going to sound preposterous but I quit high school basketball because I played in a similar fashion to Stephen Curry, except he is ion's better than me.

    It's not just AAU, it's all organized basketball, namely my school (Catholic). Coaches take the fun right out of it by playing system ball, if you wanted to do something against the norm and you were successful at it, you ended up on the bench.

    Guess how that worked out? Our team (filled with some of the best players in the nearby Chicago area) went 2-22, worst record in our schools history.

    Note Reiteration: I am not comparing myself to Steph Curry other than the fashion in which we played in
