QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 03:47 PM) WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski As you'd expect, Celtics vets are livid over trade of Kendrick Perkins, sources say. He's the tough guy, enforcer. But BOS can't pay him. Jeff Green can be Paul Pierce lite but all of the vets on that team are one year older next year. I think this was their last definitive shot at getting another ring This year = stupid trade Future = good trade

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 06:39 AM) This looks like the wave of the future instead of unloading for free agency, you will load up on picks. Could you imagine a Dwight Howard/Blake Griffin combo, oh my word

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 04:03 PM) I'm very conflicted on whether I want Mayo on this team. I know I don't want to move Taj or Omer for Courtney Lee though. Because of his game or his attitude? I think his attitude would be OK, he would be joining a Finals contender alongside one of the best players in the game now. His game would be great for what the Bulls need IMO

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 10:15 AM) There has been a lot of talk about a hard cap in the NBA and if so, there is no way they can sign one of the PGs in addition to Amare/Stoudemire. Ahhhh I get it now
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 11:31 PM) They won't have cap for DWill or CP3 unless they take huge paycuts. I don't get it, the reason they got rid of a couple of "extra" players in the deal is so they have more room to sign one of those guys

QUOTE (T R U @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 05:26 AM) They may not be closer to a title right this second, but this was the right step in that direction.. and please, Felton was hot garbage in Charlotte he gets to D'Antoni and all the sudden looks competent? You're right, prolly not better right now.. but this move is the kind that will pay off down the road Don't forget who Raymond Felton also played for in Charlotte
-
Knicks in the long run will be better because this will attract either CP3 or DWill IMO but I read an article on Gallinari vs. Melo and if you pretty much double Danilo's shots per game, he would score just as much if not more than Melo

QUOTE (SnB @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) pequod's (in lincoln park) is a revelation. Carmelized crust.....yes Was there the other night, great stuff If anyone watches Anthony Bourdain, he goes to a pizza place called Bert's in Morton Grove. Well in short, Bert is the man who opened Pequod's and got sick of it so he sold it. I have yet to go there but have heard great things and obviously he is the reason why Pequod's is what it is right now.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) I would personally take Harris and Favors long-term over Anthony and Billups, I think this deal is absurd. Then again I never have cared much for Anthony. He will certainly sell tickets, but I just don't see many more wins coming their way. If Favors ends up turning out like many think, then yes I would probably take Harris and Favors. But being a team that is moving into a new arena in a different state, you make this trade all day long and get the proven commodity and all-star for an unproven rookie and a talented but very injury prone PG. Now Anthony is saying that the meeting is "news to me" LMAO

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 30, 2011 -> 11:56 PM) It's winter, yes, but that's soon to end. When the weather warms I'll be sure to venture out farther outside my comfy 'hood and see all the little corner pubs I've wanted to. So I thought I'd share some of the best places I've been in the past year. And I'd like to hear yours. We know about kumas, hot dougs, etc. I'm also bored. Here are my own categories, feel free to invent yours: Best (relatively) New Bar (Wicker Park): Big Star Formerly the Pontiac, they created one of the most pleasant atmospheres around. It gets crowded, so I'd suggest getting here early and it's especially a great place in summer. They have excellent $2 tacos, cheap beer, and daily whiskey specials. Old time country plays in a real bare bones environment. It's a really relaxing place. It's only identity is that it's enjoyable. Best Tuesday Night Drink Special: Estelle's $2-$3 For a really wide array of drafts highlighting the best of some of the better known brews (bell's, great lakes, rogue, revolution) and some surprises. Get there early before the college kids take over. Great juke box. Really meh food. Best Indian Restaurant Not on Devon: Marigold Great cocktails and fantastic food, located in uptown it's still a bit farther north than is convenient for me. But I had some really great Murg Makhni, but just a warning, the vegetarian dishes are inexplicably hit or miss for an Indian restaurant. Friendliest Service: Tied between Whirlaway Lounge and Cafe Bella Both located on fullerton in Logan Square, both just blow me away with how kind they are. Whirlaway's owner and main bartender Maria will know you by name and for life if you go during a non busy time for an hour or so. They take care of the whole bar quickly, have a cult following and it's just a great night out. Cafe Bella serves great sandwiches and coffee, and I couldn't be more cliche but you feel like you are guests in their home. They take care of you. Best Chilaquiles: Wolf's Den The place is hilarious. Formerly the here we go cafe, it looks as if they gave no thought to the atmosphere and design of the restaurant. They are often closed without warning. But damn they make some f'n good chilaquiles. Runner Up: Flow on Chicago Ave. in Ukrainian village. Best tamale guy: Blue Cooler More contentious than it should be, blue cooler is always where I need him. Best Corner Pub: Archies Located in Humboldt Park, one of my favorite bars in Chicago. Very laid back, basically looks like a basement they made a bar out of. Great Juke Box, Hammison's drink special (that's a Hamm's and a Jamison shot for $5), darts, board games. Blue cooler always make my night here. Fair warning: it can be pretty hip some nights. Best Restaurant in Logan Square: Longman and Eagle boring, but it's true. Fantastic food you can live with price-wise. Best Bar in North Center: http://www.yelp.com/biz/goldies-bar-chicago Goldie's $1 PBR every night. Enough said, for me, but also pool and darts. Best Bar in Lincoln Park: Delilah's Great music, affordable, one of the few LP bars i can stand beside Gallway Bay. Oh also Lady Gaga went here. That's my list, I'll think of more. Most of all, think of the term "best" as places that left their mark on me. I didn't go to 100 places in each neighborhood. But these places I all heartily endorse. Good list but how can a Michelin starred English pub be boring? I went to it's "rival", Owen & Engine on Western, it.was.amazing.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 09:35 AM) Jesus, Miggy was really drunk. I guess he was drinking scotch from the bottle when the officer got to the window. He looks alarmingly happy in his mugshot too Was this his first time getting drinking since 2009 and he just got belligerently drunk?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 14, 2011 -> 08:30 AM) I picked up two to Rise Against at the Aragon Ballroom. I will also probably be getting the weekend Lolla pass given Eminem and FF are going to be there. I've never gone to Lolla before, around when do they start selling tickets?

QUOTE (farmteam @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) I told myself the next time the Foos toured, I'd go for sure. I'm just not sure if I want to do it at a big festival, or see them in a regular venue. Also, been listening to a lot of Tokyo Police Club recently. I'm not a big fan of going to see live acts at festival's either but Foo is amazing live

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 04:11 PM) Depends if the Bulls would rather give up a guy like James Johnson for Anthony Parker, who you're pretty much only acquiring for the playoff run, or to trade Asik for a guy like Lee who's still very young and someone who can probably be a starter for you for quite a long time. I'm a fan of Lee, for a rookie he played very well in that Orlando team that made the playoffs, he's got good size for a SG at 6'5, got decent 3PT range, and most importantly, he's a defense first type of player. He's just been in 2 bad situations since Orlando, playing for a Nets team that was just awful, and then being moved to Houston where he's stuck behind Kevin Martin. He'd been an instant upgrade over Bogans that's for sure. I am still wondering how someone like Courtney Lee can be "overrated"
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 09:29 AM) Courtney Lee is just not that good. He is no way a difference maker. Why do we need to make a trade just for the sake of making a trade? And I like Asik's future a ton, so I would definitely say no to trading him for Lee. I kind of agree but Courtney Lee does not get a lot of playing time because of a crowded backcourt, he got some good minutes in his last game and dropped 23, he is still pretty young and hasn't been put in a situation where he can really succeed yet. Lee, just like Asik, is still very young and can get better. I think there might be a reason why he was a centerpiece for the Magic to get Vince Carter (when Vince was actually putting up some damn good numbers). He's not someone that is going to lead the team in scoring every night, but he's kinda like a shotting guard version of Josh Howard, comes into the league as a defender first but his scoring is still up and coming.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 9, 2011 -> 08:17 PM) Did Utah offer Boozer the same contract the Bulls did? Otherwise i don't get the boos I was in work in SLC last year and went to a Jazz/Nuggets game, trust me, they really hate him there. Even when he was on the Jazz, people were even wearing T-shirts promoting a website to run Boozer out of Utah, I think many of the Booooooz were actually Boooooos

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 11:58 AM) Yea we were thinking of Krakow over Warsaw too, I would rather go someplace more historic than modern since Im living in one of the most modern cities anyways (and the historical aspect intrigues me more). I know you said your looking at going to places your friend has not been to, if he has not been to one of these towns. I was in London/Paris over the summer and although I loved both towns, Paris is really incredible with their sights and total culture change. Really cool to see all of that stuff in real life after seeing it in books/magazines your entire life! Food, Wine, Cheese, Bread, everything was awesome. Best part about vacationing in London, it always rains so you can just duck into the pub nearest to you for a pint and wait for it to pass over LOL.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 10:28 AM) I've heard Krakow is a better city to visit over Warsaw. Warsaw is more modernized, if you really want the history and old-world Poland, Krakow it should be I've never been I have just read numerous places

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 09:51 AM) They both should be there. Period. I'm going to puke if Duncan makes it. But I've got a feeling he'll be there. Looks like I picked a bad year to discontinue my league pass subscription. I had it from 2005 through last year. Combination of not really being all that interested in anybody outside of the Bulls, and the fact I didn't have the nearly $200 bones it cost yearly, and I said no thanks. There's more premium, in particular young, talent in the league today than at any point I can remember since the early 90's. I'm actually staying up late to catch Clipper/Wolves/Warriors/Grizzlies highlights. Prepare to hurl

Bears versus Packers game thread
Chi Town Sox replied to southsider2k5's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 02:11 AM) The guy seen on TV burning Cutler's jersey is a f***ing moron, unless he was a Packer fan playing games with the media. The guy sleeps in bed with the jersey the week before, burns it the next week. Urlacher is a great Chicago Bear. He said Cutler is tough. Case closed. Cutler was hurt. I trust Urlacher's opinion. Packers by the way had a better team. Bears still have some work to do, though the defense played proud. Especially considering alot of people forgot that he supposedly told Justin Gage in Vegas that Cutler was a pu**y
