QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 17, 2010 -> 06:56 AM) You don't have much time I know, and I love London but I'd urge you to get out into some of the rest of Great Britain as well. Bath, Avebury, Salisbury, Stonehenge, York, etc., are all a short BritRail ride from London and it's a completely diferent feel, lots of history, good pub life, etc. That's exactly what we were going to do with 1 or 2 of our days there, should be pretty awesome

    Europe

Will be going to Europe for 10 days in August, flying into and out of London/Heathrow which is where we would like stay the longest. Most likely 4-5 days in London but we would also like to visit Paris, Amsterdam and possibly Brussels. Can anyone share any experiences/remarks on restaurants, pubs, clubs, shops, etc. and on an idea of how many days needed to spend in the last 3 towns (if at all)? I understand that ideally you would want to be in each city for multiple days but that may not happen but I am half Dutch so would love to get myself to Amsterdam We are not much into the artsy/museum type stuff, more into the dining, pubs, clubs and visiting the main sites in each town and maybe a random day trip for a little (yeah right) wine tasting or something of that matter. Thanks
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 15, 2010 -> 02:37 AM) For the love of god I hope there's not a sex tape. She must be good in LeBed
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 13, 2010 -> 11:22 AM) Kevin Durant is a freaking ball hog who looked overmatched against the Lakers. I've heard from many places that if the Bulls lose out on all the FAs this offseason, they're going to go balls out for Carmelo. Carmelo would be a great fit with Rose, significantly better than Wade would be. If you are a 21 year old scoring small forward leading your team (the youngest team in the NBA at that) against one of the greatest players of all time and his team filled with all star's (and with a couple of the best defenders in the league on him) while shooting 48% over a full season, I don't think you can consider him a freaking ballhog. The guy is going to be a star for a long time, give him a break, they even won 2 games against them. But that's just me He's actually well on his way to being a better version of Carmelo if you ask me
  5. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ May 12, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) sooooo the writers agree to revote the Defensive ROY award and just elect Cushing the Defensive ROY year again? That seems like a waste of time. Per AOL Fanhouse (from Rotoworld), an NFL GM states that his steroid use dates back to high school http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2010/05/12/ap-vote...asy-on-cushing/
  6. I received a trade offer which I am pretty sure is a damn good offer but I have a crush on my top 3 pitchers (even top 4 or 5) Adam Lind, Brian McCann and Clay Bucholz for Jon Lester, Denard Span and Kevin Gregg - Is Brian McCann's vision problems too scary to hit accept? Should I hit accept with an amazing group of starters but with a fringe offense? Chris Snyder Billy Butler Chase Utley Martin Prado Cliff Pennington Justin Upton Nick Markakis Denard Span Franklin Gutierrez Austin Jackson DL Kurk Suzuki CC Sabathia Chris Carpenter Jon Lester Shawn Marcum Wade Davis Max Scherzer Broxton, K-Rod, Rafael Soriano, Rauch, Gregg
  7. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 11, 2010 -> 12:07 AM) No. He is a step ahead of VDN... but still on the terrible list. Might be one of the reasons Wade might not want to come here supposedly. He wants to stay far away from that crazy chick as possible. On the plus side, his kids do go to school here. He and Taj are good friends. I think it was just more or less complementing a friend he works out with in the off-season. Ya JJ wrote his tomb when he ripped the fan-base. No way he re-signs there, and I told you that Atlanta was easily the best match-up the Magic could have gotten. I'm still convinced that if Atlanta played Boston, they probably sweep them or win in 5. Boston got a break playing Cleveland big time. If the Suns win a title, say.. Amar'e loves Gragic or thinks he has 2 good years with Nash left to win 2 more titles, I think he re-signs with the Suns and would be a shame cause he has moved up now ahead of Bosh on my personal list to pair with Rose. I have always liked Amar'e but I definitely would rather pay Bosh than chance it on Stoudemire trying to get paid max money with his play in the playoffs.
  8. QUOTE (whitem0nkey @ May 10, 2010 -> 01:46 PM) a new dynasty It is an understatement to say that I hate him
  9. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 10, 2010 -> 01:01 AM) 29-18-13 is just sick for anybody, yet alone a PG. 18 rebounds for a PG?! That is Magic Johnson/Jason Kidd territory. If there is a couple of things I want Rose to learn from Rondo (besides his reach around steals, though Rondo's defense is really overrated) it is his playmaking I.Q. and his aggressiveness to get tough rebounds especially with Rose's superior athleticism. Honestly thought you were going somewhere else with that one
  10. http://twitter.com/Enrique_Rojas1/status/13549863110 Starlin Castro called up supposedly
  11. QUOTE (soxfan-kwman @ May 6, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) Big Frank is the biggest jerk in person. I saw him in Vegas before too, 2004 & he was on crutches, & he wouldn't take 10 seconds to take a picture... What a Dumb Idiot Careless person King of the Walks!!! When I saw him in 2004 it was still in season & couldn't be anymore stand-offish. Like I said, he was on crutches & apparently doing rehab out in Vegas. Of course during the 2005 season when he could no longer play, he was in the dugout & on the bus with the team. I'm so happy this entitled --- ---- never got to play in the World Series! That guy has something wrong with him. He just can't take the time to be a decent guy. I've seen him blow fans off after the games in the parking lot time, after time. This guy could have this city love him, but he just can't for whatever reason!!! He must still be bitter about the 2000 playoffs & the 0-13 he hit in three games against the Mariners. After a game once when I was younger, I showed up a a little late as he was signing autographs for fans from his car. He started driving away for a good few seconds and I screamed his name and he actually stopped to sign and was very nice
  12. Number 1 bust of all time? Jamarcus Russell released http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/1335595...akingNewsHolder
  13. QUOTE (G&T @ May 5, 2010 -> 01:29 PM) He admitted that he wouldn't have caught the ball. He then told reporters a couple of months later he had never said that. And if he did, it was to take some pressure off of Bartman
  14. There's a decent candidate out there with a couple of years experience, Vinny Del Negro anyone?
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) Lester will not have better stats than Romero and Billingsley will put together. If Lester even improves off of his 2008 stats (he was injured in '09), you're looking at 17 wins, ERA of 3.20, and 170 Ks. That's worse than Billingsley did by himself in 2008 before last year's minor regression. Romero was very good in his first season in the majors last year before injury. 13 wins, 4.30 ERA 141K in only 178 IP. So, if Billingsley gets even close to 2008, you're looking at: 15 W 3.60 ERA 170 K Romero's been great so far, he could be: 16 W 3.80 ERA 180 K Gregg is way over his head so far this year; if he pitches decent in the AL you're looking at: 2 W 4.20 ERA 65 K 25 SV If he reverts back to last year: 4 W 4.78 ERA 45 K 15 SV - and he loses the closer job by the Break. So, Lester: 17 W 3.20 ERA 170 K Gregg: 2 W 4.20 ERA 65K 25 SV for Billingsley: 15 W 3.60 ERA 170 K Romero: 16 W 3.80 ERA 180 K You lose 12 W ERA is about even and lose 115 K - gain a few saves - but you might get 15-20 saves off of the waiver wire. Tis true but in making this trade, it let me drop Franklin Morales and another DL let me pick up Wade Davis and Jeff Neimann so they will more than make up for it
  16. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 12:07 PM) You're in essence trading two top 25 SPs for one top 25 guy. Gregg's success is negligible, just like Lester's failure, but Romero has a past history of success, and Billingsley is overdue on breaking out. In basic yahoo format, Billingsley has never been a top 25 pitcher - I'll take the Ace from Boston
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 04:56 PM) I can't see how a team with Prince Fielder, Ian Kinsler, Ben Zobrist, Michael Young, Adam Lind, Felix Hernandez, Justin Verlander, Jered Weaver, Jair Jurrjens, and Jonathan Broxton can be in last place. Amen, the team I won my roto league with last year is currently in ninth place by 33 points from the person in 1st Brian McCann Adrian Gonzalez Ian Kinsler DL - (Martin Prado) Ryan Zimmerman Hanley Ramirez Justin Upton Manny Ramirez - DL Shane Victorino Colby Rasmus Denard Span Just traded Billingsley and Romero to get Kevin Gregg and Jon Lester (who I wanted badly as he is always a bad early month pitcher) Ricky Romero Brett Anderson - DL Matt Cain Wade Davis (just picked up) Jeff Neimann(just picked up) Homer Bailey Marmol Billy Wagner Rafael Soriano I have been decimated by injuries so far and am getting dominated, although my offense is almost all an all star team
  18. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 03:43 PM) Yea, I used ratemyprofessors.com to pick almost all my teachers when I was at Moraine Valley. It's also the biggest reason I was finally able to pass College Algebra 141 after taking it for the 3rd time. Unfortunately, so far at DeVry the options for teachers/classes seem very limited. So far I only had, like, 1 teacher to pick from for the classes I wanted to take in the day/time I wanted to pick. In fact, some are so limited that there's only one class offered and being taught by only one teacher each semester. If my math is correct, if I have 42 credit hours left, I should have about 11 classes or so left if most of them are 4 credit-hour classes. So hopefully I strike it lucky with decent teachers. :-/ Good OLE' MVCC, I am so sick of that place
  19. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 07:32 AM) Yea, I agree. I've been working part-time since I was 16 and going to school part-time as well because I couldn't really afford full-time school and I didn't want to be in a position where I barely have time to do homework. That's why I'm almost 25 and I still have 42 credits left before I get my degree. I still got about a year left, I took a lot of night classes and try to get 1 or 2 online classes each semester when I was in Community College (or trimester now) - I also use www.ratemyprofessors.com a lot to make sure I am not taking a teacher that just buries you with busy work for no reason, which works for me most of the time
  20. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 10:20 PM) lol, it would've been awesome if we were in the same class together. I actually go to DeVry at the Tinley Park campus. I was originally planning on going to Governor's State, but I decided to go to DeVry because I can get a BA in Business Administration with a concentration on Human Resources without having to take Calculus. Damn, I was actually taking an accelerated stats class this semester and had to withdrawal it, it was too much with taking so much math and work!
  21. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 11:52 AM) Haha. I give you and the people in your boat tremendous respect because that is not only difficult, but so draining I could imagine. I know I would have welted under those demands. It definitely can be but I feel a little better that I know I don't have to worry about loans when I am done!
  22. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 11:49 AM) My school has a tri-mester system, and each 16-week trimester is split in half to part A and part B. I just finished my spring trimester part A by passing Statistics with a 92%, and now I have 42 credit hours left before I get my BA. Tomorrow I start my spring semmester part B classes, which are Project Management and Labor Relations, and both are 4 credit hours each. The schedule is gonna be hell, though, cause both classes are on Wednesdays and one is from 8am-12 and the other is from 6pm-10. Gonna be a long 8 weeks. But when I pass both of those classes, I ought to be down to just 34 credit hours left for my BA before I start my summer trimester. Where do you go? I am on trimesters and just finished my stats class at GSU
  23. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) Wishing I had finals. No matter what you say in school about hating school and wanting the "real world" to begin, college is still way better. Even if you hate your classes, hate your roommate or whatever, you'll never have that freedom again where you go to class 2-3 hours a day and then can spend the rest of the day how you like it. I graduated in December and now my life from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. (leave for work, work, come back from work) is all taken up. Then you eat and all you want to do in the evening is nothing. College rocks, and I was one of the ones who couldn't wait to get out. Yeah I have worked full time (M-F) my whole college career so I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with you there
  24. I pulled off the roomate switch somehow You Seinfeld fans will know what I am talking about
  25. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 01:01 PM) That was one game. And Jimmy Rollins is currently on the DL. No comparison to what Ozzie has done so far. Polanco, Francisco, Werth and Victorino could all possibly leadoff. Ross Gload shouldn't be leading off for a team like that Edit: Just seemed like a Sunday lineup then
