  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) Holy s*** I just woke up. Go back to sleep.
  2. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:57 PM) We also got Basabe who could be a top 100 prospect by midseason Ya so far we've gotten one elite hitting prospect and one pretty solid one. It's not just Yoan.
  3. Another thing not being discussed enough is that when we completely f***in suck this year we're going to get a super high pick and the ability to spend more on the draft when we have like no payroll left. Another huge infusion of talent hopefully.
  4. QUOTE (aboz56 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:37 PM) The last few years have been miserable, so basically nothing new. Like literally as miserable as it could get.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:24 PM) To me, the big thing about this is we got three guys who could be high upside. Yes, bust risk exists, but getting three high caliber players is fantastic. I like this haul as much, if not more, then the Red Sox haul and the combo makes me feel better then Sale in isolation. Still, a lot of work to go and obviously a lot of risk in what the club is doing (but hey...not like we are defending divisional champs or anything, haha). Very nice to see us, seemingly, take a very distinct and clear direction. I'm curious to see what else happens...Q obviously is most intriguing. I want to bold this because I think this is very important. Hahn had discussions with the Nats before and probably at least had an idea of what he could pull from them for Adam. He probably has a similar idea with Q and some other teams. I bet Q goes for some bats and when you put the packages of all 3 together it looks even better than the deals did separately.
  6. I've b****ed about the Sox more than anyone the last year but there's no reason to b**** about these guys just being pitchers right now. We still have a lot of pieces to move and one is an elite one. Now that we actually have a f***in direction for once lets let Rick finish this off...and he's doing a tremendous job gathering talent so far. Don't stop now boys.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) Have fun playing eaton in CF That's what's kind of funny about it. They traded a right field Adam Eaton package for a cf Adam Eaton.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:55 PM) Yes. Ya, I'm with you on this one.
  9. Still got Q to trade for bats as well. Clean up on arms with the Nats if you need to.
  10. Hopefully Giolito, Lopez and another piece or two then.
  11. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:44 PM) http://m.mlb.com/news/article/159745898/ja...enter-for-cubs/ I remember. I just don't think that was ever the plan. They were going to get a cf somewhere so Heyward could play right. Him playing center would have been a last resort for them.
  12. I'm pretty sure Chris is a good dude and well liked in the clubhouse. He's just a crazy person.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:25 PM) ...Cubs signed him to be a CFer before Fowler came back. I'm almost positive that was never the plan.
  14. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) Compared to Jason Heyward? Is this even up for debate? Heyward signed as a 25 year old with good established offensive production and the plus tools to project increased production. He wasn't signed because of his defensively inflated WAR. Eaton will be traded as an established 28 year old without near the upside to project. He's a hell of a player, but his some of his numbers are smoke and mirrors. GM's aren't dumb. You're absolutely nuts if you don't think Heyward was signed because of his defense in right field. Sure, the Cubs were probably hoping for some increased offensive production due to his tools but if he wasn't thought of as the best defensive right fielder in the league then he's not making anywhere near that type of money.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) Yep that amazing speech made it so heart of Cubs order was up against an average reliever. On his 2nd innning of work. There was no way the Cubs weren't scoring that inning.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:35 PM) I'll take the Red Sox package every time. I'm just throwing it out there as a discussion point. I think you can make a fair argument for either package of players.
  17. So looks like the Nats package was going to consist of Giolito, Robles and Lopez.
  18. Dude was good at the baseball I guess.
  19. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:57 PM) We aren't there yet. This is a great start, and all indications is this is just the first domino to fall. BUT........lets see what else happens. If Sale is the only major piece moved this winter, the direction will still be muddy. Yup. Agreed with all of this.
  20. Our Sox might have just liked Moncada more, doesn't mean the bosox liked Beni more.
  21. QUOTE (Special K @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:01 PM) I just worry that we just traded a legit Hall of Famer in his prime on a bargain contract for two unproven prospects and didn't get one proven player in return. Love Moncandas ceiling and if he pans out as a superstar or even very good player, then the deal was probably worth it. But if he flops, we got hosed. That's my thought. To have a hall of famer in their prime on your team is a very rare thing... What's to worry about though? We've proven we're not winning with Chris.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:54 PM) Fangraphs had it right last summer Didn't see this posted here. Damn. Nailed it.
