How on earth can Seby be vaulted over Collins so quickly?  I don't buy it.  The guy was a non-prospect a couple weeks ago.  Has he really done enough in a handful of games to fundamentally change that and displace a first-round pick with a great eye (even if he has driven us crazy)?

He’s 8 billion times better behind the plate than Collins.  All Collins brings to the table is he’s ok against rhp.

I bet Collins stays over Seby but I will guess that Collins gets dealt somewhere this off-season based on nothing. And then have a better defensive catcher as a backup next year.

I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you as I have no idea what the Sox opinion on both guys is at the moment.  I personally just don’t see the point of keeping Collins over Seby.

Sheets will go down because he has options.

Yes.  Especially with Goodwin destroying righties this year.  I think we’re all happy with Sheets first impression here but he’s the logical one to go down here.

Also, is there any reason to keep Collins over Seby?  Is it cause he hits right handers ok?  I just don’t get that at this point.

I think that's a fair way to put it, but I think we should all expect more than just "the minimum."

I'm not asking them to make moves like the Dodgers did, but I feel like they are going to rest on the "Eloy/Robert/Grandal are going to be our deadline moves, we really didn't have to do much" line and I just can't agree with that. Don't just be OK, get greedy. Go for it. Be loaded with talent.

They just don't operate that way...

This is exactly where I’m at.  The fact that the other AL contenders have added some heavy hitters makes it more difficult to accept the bare minimum.

Imagine if I told you yesterday the white Sox were going to get Escobar and Gallo without giving up Kelley or anyone on the hit league roster (no Robert either just to avoid that loophole). Wouldn’t you be in? For almost whatever it takes?

Even Add Kelley and I’m fine with it.

Boooooooo. No removing players except for trades

Should be a rule less than a week from the deadline.  Don’t care how hurt you are, have to stay in the game damn it!

  7. But seriously, everyone here has seen Vaughn play defense.  No one is solely relying on fangraphs to judge his defense though it’s always nice when stats back up your eyes.  The fact is, even people that wanted nothing to do with him playing lf(myself included) will tell you he’s been much better out there than expected and he’s absolutely serviceable out there in his first year ever playing the position.  You’re being stubborn just to be stubborn.

Ha I forgot about that.  That was a really funny DJ moment that hawk didn't appreciate

That 1-0 game actually took place on my birthday during my Freshman year in Carbondale.  16 years later, I still remember Jacque Jones ruining my 18th birthday.  What a dick.

Fully agree.  I do like Sheets but selling high on him now would likely be the prudent thing to do.  I still think a Gallo or Marte for RF is a must.

Not sure if I agree that getting a Gallo or Marte is a must(I'd obviously love to have either) but I completely agree with what you said about Sheets.  If you can sell high on Sheets right now or in a few weeks, go do it.

If the right deal can be made for a lefty masher...it doesn't matter if they are a 2B or an outfielder...you make that move. Eloy or Robert can definitely have a setback, and not one of the prospects is a sure fire thing. LOVE that Eloy is ahead of schedule, but this team still needs help....especially because Grandal being out for longer than 5 weeks is surely possible.

    Yup, completely agree.

Tony is exactly why I am shocked Eaton got let go.  Those two were made for each other.

I almost wonder if Rick saw Eaton batting leadoff yesterday and said nope fuck this, we ain't doing that anymore.
